Two Weeks in Paradise - 9/5 - 9/18

Someone hit it right after I posted. Finally got one of my own. And it’s pink drink time. Because you can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning.

Also. I’m currently reveling in being a bitch. A couple came in and there were only two spaces open at the bar - one on either side of me. But somehow only one barstool (don’t know what happened to the other). I was going to offer to move down so they could at least have two spots together. Before I could offer, the woman took the one open stool next to me and said something to the effect of “That’s fine - I’m sure space will clear up when they see how obnoxious I can be” while staring at me. It’s going to take a natural disaster to move me from my seat at this point. And I’m enjoying it way too much.

 

Vodka, soda, splash cranberry. The drink of champions!

 

So not a fan of these types of people. I’m sure I could annoy her even more after a statement like that. Good luck

 

Dang. They got two seats together on the other side of the bar. I was enjoying the evolution of her techniques. That was more enjoyable than it had any right to be. Sometimes I try to be a better person, but that’s so much less fun than being kind of evil.

She worked her way through:
- Lighting a cigarette and doing the thing where she held it in front of my face with her left hand. Loudly proclaiming how much she likes to smoke and that she’s going to keep smoking all day. When she finally asked me if the smoking bothered me I was full bless-your-heart. “No, not at all”. Weirdly she put her cigarette out about ten seconds later and never lit another one.

-Loudly repeating variations of “I can’t believe we can’t get seats together. When is someone going to leave so we can have seats together” until the guy on her other side finally said “It’s opening day of football - the bar has been full since before the games started”.

-After realizing I’m rooting for the Steelers, loudly and repeatedly claiming that “The Steelers are the f-ing worst.” And “I hate the f-ing Steelers.” Oh, ok. I’ll just go cry myself to sleep because some random asshat in a bar doesn’t like the same football team as me?

 

Just caught up, great TR so far. I love the strategy with rude woman, shame the game ended early though, that would have been a lot of fun to see the whole performance. Keep the wins coming.

As a diehard Steelers fan since the 70s who hasn't missed a game in over 25 years, I was already over the moon with this win. I didn't think it was possible to be any happier. I was wrong.

 

The good ole days. The Steel Curtain for the Steelers and my other team had the Grits Blitz.

 

I'm surprised you haven't used it already. They do only accept one of each in a year (one LVA, one ACG), correct?

 

I was a kid then, but my family was all from central and western PA, so I was born into Steelers fandom. Not a bad time to grow up in black and gold.

 

Lunch at Whiskey Licker Up. A cucumber cooler cocktail, chicken fingers, and fries. This really hit the spot. And I still have like $1,300 comp dollars at Binion’s to use up.

 

Can you imagine going through all that energy instead of just simply asking nicely if she and her husband could sit together...
