By the looks of it with the walkway that attaches them if you stay at one you get one for free but which one would you stay at?

    A. I've stayed at neither. I haven't stayed nor really played at any of the Boyd properties downtown opposed to always stopping multiple times to Gold Coast and Orleans on every trip.

    B. Both will be comped.

    C. We will be using the pool at Circa so I'm leaning towards California as that's closer but if you feel the Main Street Station is a nicer hotel let me know.

    D. I mostly play Pai Gow and Video Poker and I also bet sports.

    E. Are there any safety issues being off the main Fremont drag?

Thanks for your help in advance.

They are connected by a walkway, so it's basically one big hotel, and neither is far from Circa. No safety issues other than the occasional homeless person, when walking the one block to Fremont Street. I've heard the rooms at California are nicer, but the one I had at MSS had been recently remodeled and was just fine. Overall, I liked the ambiance of MSS over California, with their bar top VP, the brewpub, and awesome buffet (if it has reopened). That said, you can't go wrong with either, and can easily move from one property to the other with little effort.

I really wouldn't consider distance to Circa as being different between the two. Technically yes, but practicality no. Especially since they're both connected.

I haven't stayed at either for years, but I used to love the rooms at Main Street and hated the casino. And I hated the rooms at the Cal, but liked their casino. Both are really good choices for that end of Fremont. I would get a room at Main Street.

I am exactly the opposite, which means it averages out to "you can't go wrong".

Stayed at Cal on a solo trip a couple years ago… was pleasantly surprised. Albeit the room is small, I found the room and bathroom nicer then 1/2 mid-tier Strip properties. Was also very clean. Will be staying at MSS next weekend and per reviews/videos I know it’s basically one step above a motel in regards to furnishings however for a busy weekend and a comp, can’t complain much.
