They're not screwing around, either... wonder if this is going to snowball to anything else in Vegas.

I am seriously thinking about canceling my WSOP trip if I can't get my booster in time. This is good to hear.

At first I was also pretty sure the WSOP fields would be tougher with the vaccine requirement. But then I was thinking about the fact that about 75% of Americans 50+ are fully vaxxed, and only about 50% of Americans 21 to 39 are fully vaxxed.

I saw a study once that showed that there is a strong correlation between age (on date playing a WSOP event) and WSOP results. People in their 20s have the best results, 30s are a bit worse, 40s a bit worse etc., with the very oldest players having the worst results.

For what it's worth I am an older player myself and I was not surprised at these findings.

I am not completely sure how it will all shake out in terms of overall field strength, but I am looking forward to playing. Even if the field does turn out to be tougher, on balance I think the WSOP vaccine requirement is a positive for poker.

I don't doubt that's the case, but I'd imagine you'll be getting the tougher end of each bracket, overall.

Just an FYI. There is a download called Clear Health Pass available on play store. Need photos of your drivers license, front and back, and vaccination card, as well as a facial snapshot. Fairly easy to complete, took me about 5 minutes. The ONLY reason I got the vaccine was so I could play in the WSOP events. Fuckers better not cancel it.

This version supports my initial assumption. They don't think they have enough dealers for the series so the vaccine requirement is a crowd control maneuver more than anything else. I'm all set with my clear app "passport" so I don't really care all that much but do find it interesting.

There are lots of travelling dealers. I'm good friends with a couple that deal all the circuit tournaments in addition to the WSOP in Vegas. The WSOP is much larger than any circuit event and the circuits have been a bit short staffed. When the pandemic hit and series were cancelled for months a lot of them got other jobs and didn't go back to the travelling life. Still plenty available to handle a large crowd but the biggest circuit events might have 3,000 people playing on the busiest day and the WSOP will be closer to 12,000 between various events and cash games.

Here is the page where WSOP addresses the vaccination requirement and the no masks at the tables policy, the first under the Governor's new plan for events requiring proof of vaccination.

Doesn't look like the booster will be an issue for most...

During my Poker Trip in a couple of weeks (which we did not plan around the WSOP) there is the $5 million GTD Reunion tournament beginning Oct 1. I set up my info on the Clear app in case we decide to play that event.

I'm planning on playing in the Reunion tournament. Might do a couple at the downtown grand also. I'm not even sure which day 1 I'll be doing for the WSOP tourny. I'm in town from 9/30-10-7 and might wait until Sunday to play day 1.

With regards to this, is there any information about medical and religious exemptions? I'm medically exempted from the vaccine, and haven't seen much info as to whether this kind of stuff applies to us.

    Not allowed

What happens if I want a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement?–
The Governor’s State of Nevada Emergency Directive 050, which was released on September 2, 2021, expressly provides that medical and religious exemptions from the vaccination requirement cannot be accommodated.
