    My Trip Report

    Rick Astley, that great British bard and modern-day poet (not to mention international sex icon) famously penned that famous line "never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down". I'd love to say that I am the Rick Astley of Vegas trip reports, but as a great man once said "boy, I ain't no Rick Astley!" and well, neither I am. There are four things that are guaranteed in any Fuzzy trip report:

    (1) Excessive drinking;
    (2) Copious gambling;
    (3) Bad decisions; and
    (4) At some point it will just - end (almost as if it were given up, deserted), and it might just make you cry

    But if you are wanting some fun and to live vicariously for a few short days (or less) then buckle up because Fuzzy is headed out to Vegas for a short 3.5 days.

    But first a few words from the man himself:

    Inspired? Yeah me too, lets actually finish this TR.

    So I know I'm about 12 hours early on this, as I take off about 6 am Tuesday, but tomorrow is slammed with work, family and chores, so I wanted to get this up before all that starts.

    I am booked for 3 nights (Tues - Thurs 9/7-9/10) at the Plaza in (I believe) a Luxe suite, but I'm not entirely sure what room. I am also booked for standard King room at the Circa. My plan is to stay at Plaza while doing a room tour/review of Circa. But plans can change. I've never stayed at either property and am very excited to check them out. Both rooms are comped.

    Gambling: Most of my play is craps and sportsbetting, so expect a lot of chip pictures from the bathroom stall and pics of sports tickets. I also play a fair amount of VP primarily when watching games, and do some slotting to break up the craps sessions. A small amount of BJ or roulette could occur. But generally I'll wander DT playing craps. My main haunts these days are GG, the D, Circa, and (when the table is open) DTG. However since Plaza was so generous with its offer I intend to give Plaza a large chunk of play this time around. Sportsbetting will be at Circa Sports for the most part. The bankroll is very healthy as I actually won a significant amount on my cruise last month and I recently received a nice promotion at work. But I'm wanting to really pace myself in order to be able to afford a return trip in October. Remember @Here2Learn you have been tasked with reminding me of this when I'm totally tanked! (don't worry I won't listen, so its not your fault!

    Circa Millions: I am currently planning on $1200 to buy in to the Circa Million with a proxy. I am scheduled to do it Thursday morning before the Boys/Bucs kickoff. It is completely bankroll dependent. I'll only do it if I am still bankrolled. (Offer: If anyone wants to share the cost of the buy-in and arrange a "team" I'll be happy to play with some fellow VMB'ers - just shoot me a PM and we can figure out specifics).

    Sportsbetting: Worst part about the timing of this trip is there isn't a ton to bet on. I am a big soccer fan though, and there are a lot of WC Qualifiers. I plan to bet on France/Scotland Tuesday afternoon and then some other UEFA games Wed afternoon as well as the USA and CONCACAF games Wed night. Also the NFL kickoff Thursday night. I'll look to mix in some MLB or other contests in there - I'm not much of a baseball fan, so if you have any tips please send them my way!

    Craps: I left the strip to get away from $15+ minimums, although I'm willing to play at that denomination. Sounds like I'll have to play it. On Thursday/Friday when DTG has their table open I'll spend some time there to try and stay on their radar as well. But ultimately I play where the table is hot and/or fun. Last time that was Circa a lot despite the $15 tables. So we'll see where the winds of fate (or drink) take us.

    Dining: I'm a cheapo. I have good dining credit at Circa and Plaza and then I have about 150 in earned comps with Circa's plan but I still eat Pizza Rock, Project BBQ, Le Thai, etc. I love them. I stay away from the fancy steakhouses because I'm normally far too drunk and it takes too much time away from gambling. So you can expect cheap and quick eats.

    Strip and off fremont: I am planning to visit the strip either Wed or Thurs afternoon to visit some old haunts, get a frozen baileys and just check things out. I've also wanted to check out Jerrys Nugget and/or get back to the M Resort where I haven't been in about 10 years now. So although this is a quick trip I may try and cram those in as well.

    Work obligations: Although I have plenty of PTO this year, I just returned from a week-long cruise first week of August, and I am hoping to get back to Vegas in October to meet up with some VMBers. So I'm only using two days of PTO (Tues/Wed). So Thurs/Fri mornings I will be doing some work, so those days the real degeneracy won't start until a bit later. On the bright side, those mornings should allow me to catch my breath enough to keep the TR going.

    Travel: I normally spring for 1st class to treat myself when I go to Vegas. But I decided to use some old SW points that have been sitting there for a long time now. I haven't flown SW for years, but I'm going to re-acquaint myself with that cattle call, leaving CMH (Columbus Ohio) first thing Tuesday morning. Brightside its about the only direct flight to Vegas from SW or Central Ohio meaning I arrive in Vegas early morning PST-time. I then leave Vegas at about 5pm Friday. So that means I'm essentially in town 3.5 days. Plenty of time.

    One thing I try and do (and will try) is to post pics. Once I start drinking/gambling I don't type alot. But will share as many pics as possible. Packing is still in progress, but i have these already:

    These are my travelers! For those that don't know, when I'm not in first class I take these past security (they are legal), then buy some Gatorades/Cokes, etc and spike these in the bathroom. It means I land in vegas with a decent buzz!! (Not pictured is the hangover heaven I swear by - but its already in the bag as well!)

    20210905_192919.jpg

    For a long time I used to collect chips, at one time I had them from all the strip and DT properties. The new Mrs Fuzzy doesn't really like them, and honestly I feel like I'm no longer in a place where i want to display them. So I've slowly drawn it down. I'll cash these in/use them to gamble or give away as necessary. Some of these casinos no longer exist but we'll see - most are dollars so not worth a special trip,and the $25 + chips are ones I forgot to cash in....speaking of....

    20210905_193008.jpg

    On my last trip I got completely hammered my last day and never cashed these in. Its about $400 worth of TITOs - on the plus side its a start to the bankroll!!

    Alright, I'm pretty busy next 24 hours, but will try and post a few updates - otherwise expect to get an "on the road" picture Tuesday morning.

    The to-do's outstanding:

    (1) Finish packing;
    (2) Ensure playlist is updated and ready;
    (3) Research some sports bets
    (4) Get psyched!!!

    Great TR so far! Which cruise did you take? I'm going to Seattle from southern CA to cruise Alaska on Tuesday.

    We did the Caribbean shortly after it opened back up. On the equinox. It was a blast and only about half full. We were a bit leery because of Florida numbers at the time but it was great.

    First win of the trip. Just heard from my host at circa, she has arranged for the circa limo to get me from the airport. So sounds like I'm checking in there first!

    Ok. I'm so ready to leave!

    Almost forgot to check in on SW. I got B7, although it's been awhile I believe there are 60 in each letter group and a1 to 15 are often not filled due to business class right? So I'm hoping this indicates a less than full flight.

    Although I'd love a row to myself my goal on SW is to get an aisle seat in a row that seems unlikely to fill. Here's hoping!!

    I'm kind of doing the same thing myself with Sun Country. They are showing quite a few empty rows, but don't know if that's just because people didn't select and pay for a seat ahead of time. The row I'm currently in has only the window seat taken, I'm in the aisle. I'm going to wait about 4 or 5 hours after check-in starts, and then take a look and possibly move to an empty row.

    Ha I've done the exact same thing my last few trips when I'm flying an airline where you can try and predict that. Good luck and safe travels!

    On the topic of Southwest, does anyone know how their pricing algorithm works? I notice sometimes the Anytime fare (cheapest) is no longer available weeks before a flight, other times its available day of. I'm assuming it has something to do with capacity. As of today my flight tomorrow morning still shows this fare as available for a not ridiculous price. I'm assuming this means there's plenty of room on the flight? I know its ridiculous to obsess over this especially when I have a pretty full day, but I can't help checking!

    I believe you are correct on that assumption. A few years ago I check our flight out of San Antonio a few days before and it had dropped to the lowest I have ever seen out of SA. On departure day it was the least filled plane we have ever taken to LV on all our trips. Looking forward to following along.

    Alright all you degens, the bags are packed and the alarm is set for 430 am. I always have trouble sleeping before an early flight (scared I'll sleep through the alarm I guess), but going to try and get some shut eye.

    I should be sending an "on the road" update about 5 am if all goes well. Gets me to the airport about 6, through security by 7, boarding about 745. Plenty of time to spike some drinks and do other pre-flight necessities (thanks for reading while I worked out the time math in my TR).

    Night all, 12 hours from now we'll be (getting) drunk on a plane and 24 hours from now we'll be drunk in Downtown Vegas!
