Funny thing is that, from the reports on here, the craps mins at the lower-tier Derek properties are at $15 most of the time as well, same as Circa's.

The analogy I often use is restaurants, where if they offered the same plate of french fries for $5 and $10, and everyone orders the $10 one, then why not? I can't fault them for that.

It was being repaired end of July when I was out there. The guy said he was the only one who could fix it.

he's clearly made a decision that he's not running 3-4 person staffed craps games for $5 anymore

He basically said as much in his interview on the Bettor Life. The relevant excerpt starts at about minute 10.

Seems most of the time he's not even running them at $10 at the D and GG.

    Just a quick observational note:
In mid June when I was downtown, I walked from the El-Co & their empty, but open $10 crap table, through the D & their empty but open $15 crap table, to DTG & their packed $5 crap table.
Say what you will about it, but the DTG dealers, cocktail waitresses & (of course) the customers were ALL thrilled about it.

Hey @topcard , did you notice a decrease in drink service at DTG when you were there in June? Usually it's quiet enough that the server can do a full walk around the casino, and by the time I'm finished with a drink, she returns. Other than the minimums, it's why I like it at DTG vs some other places. And have you noticed if any of the single/double deck games at ElCo are hand held again, or still face up?

Everything is still shoe-dealt at the El-Co... but in ways that matter to some of us, that's actually a bit better than pitch, as we get to see all dealt cards as they are dealt (except, of course, the dealer's hole-card).
The drink service at DTG was just fine... I only played craps, as the two BJ tables were packed & remained so the entire time I was there.

I had good drink service at dtg tables 2 weeks ago. Also had good service at the stadium black jack ,roulette, craps area at circa.

    You are entirely correct, @topcard
I do like to be able to see all the cards for those "reasons". ;)
However, since pitch games aren't legal in my state, it's a unique and fun way to enjoy the game when I'm in Vegas.

I just got back from there and saw a similar lack of action at Circa tables but I'm not sure it was entirely because of limits because I saw packed tables at other downtown locations with same or similar limits. I was there on a Friday night and there were more people at the tables at Downtown Grand than there were at Circa and the tables at Fremont were elbow to elbow. At Circa, my and my wife rolled by ourselves with no one else at the table...on a Friday night.

I honestly think it's the loud music that's killing the table game floor. You can't hear the dealer, the dealer can't hear you, it's just not an ideal environment for table game play.

The music selection itself is fine but if they just turned it down a few decibels it'd still support the "party atmosphere" but people would be able to hear themselves think.

Don't get me wrong, the limits are stupid high and I'm sure it's a factor but I think there's more to it than that.

The music level at the D is why I didn't like playing there anyway before covid.(But I am old:()

It's a big combination of massive stimulus, labor shortages, and pent up demand. I agree that a lot of the high limits are going to get walked back when things even out. It might take longer than people think though because there is a ton of unspent money in the economy still.

Was the casino itself at all busy overall? Just two players on the craps tables on a Friday night?! I’ll be there in 3 weeks, so I’m interested in really knowing how loud the music was. With only two of you at the table and the dealers couldn’t hear you? Did you have to really shout ? Because that’s just crazy.

It was just us 2 at our table. There were a few other tables open but it was the same case. I think one of them was bone dry and the other two tables had 2 or 3 people each.

I didn't make a specific mental note on other table games but I remember a lot of other dealers standing around doing nothing. The slot areas were also pretty sparsely populated. It was very much not busy at all and once again I stress that the rest of Fremont was packed wall to wall. Now to be fair, we started at Circa at 7pm and then kept moving down the street so it probably got busier when we weren't there but it was still remarkable enough that I made note of it in my head.

I don't want to go full hyperbolic on the music level. It's basically the same level as The D and maybe due to the quality of the sound system, it hits even a bit harder so if you know what that's like, then there you go. It really wasn't an issue of the number of players because whether it was 2 of us or 10 of us, you can't really hear other people clearly unless you are speaking up loudly.

But yes, in my opinion, it's way too loud for a table games area or really a casino floor in general. The second floor wasn't nearly as loud but the table games weren't running up there at the time either though so it didn't do us much good. The speakers for their sound system were directly pointed at the main floor table games area so the further away you got, the quieter it got.

I like the music they had on, I'd just like it better if they turned it down a few notches. I'm not even saying to send it to the background, I'm just saying literally just a few notches.

That's my opinion. Maybe other people like it that loud but I didn't get that impression based on the lack of crowds at Circa whereas other casinos had many more people even at the same limits.

That's interesting about the music. When I was there, it was a week day afternoon. The place was dead and I didn't notice any music at all. I wonder if they turn it up in the evening. Either way it sounds like they're always fairly dead. I'm not sure posting security checking IDs is the best plan. It's not very welcoming.

I'm guessing it's like the Golden Gate where at a certain time each day they march out the dancers and crank up the music.

If you have a really nice entertainment system you can adjust for noise without just overriding. It can have some bass and of course more cowbell. But you don’t have to pretend it’s 1968.
Walk around the floor and check the db’s…….it’s not rocket science.
(Maybe that’s the problem, I associate better with rocket scientist this humanoids)

It’s a lot like Planet Hollywood, when you get up early and play the music is generally quieter and old rock and roll and pleasant as they day goes on the music gets louder and louder and also current artists and songs. But to me it’s still not as loud as the D at night.
