Some cruises started already. I’m looking at a December NCL using my CET benefit. anyone been on or booked a cruise this year?
I went on a Riverboat cruise in July. No masks at that time required, but 100% VACS required instead.
Yes cruising is back.....but the boats are mostly empty for the time being. If you have any questions let me know.
I was supposed to be in royal Caribbean Freedom of the seas 2 weeks ago but had to cancel due to non covid reasons. But my friends went and had a great time. The ships capacity was less than 50 percent. Most were vaccinated although now I think RC is requiring vaccination for all future cruises right now. Masks were required in certain parts of the ship .
We are frequent Royal Caribbean cruisers through either Mlife or Royal’s Casin Royals. Have had 4 cruises canceled or changes to itineraries since Covid. Just canceled the 5 th one in September ourselves due to all of the protocols which I fully agree with but we felt would take away some of our enjoyment. Also I’m seeing that cruise ports are being changed due to hurricanes so don’t want to have to deal with that either! We usually cruise prior to hurricane season. Looking forward to hopefully booking one for 2022.
We have a four day cruise planned out of Port Canaveral in October. It is a ten day trip and the cruise is in the middle. I am okay with it as the Bahamas now require vaccination. I think we still have to also have tests. Like everything else, we will wait and see before heading out. We just changed a Jamaica Sandals Montego Bay trip to a trip to the Florida Keys. Not as much a Covid issue as my wife deciding she did not want to miss the Keys this year and a good deal that came up on a nice house. Had to do some quick work getting a boat, guide, and flights lined up.
Excited to be taking a Celebrity cruise in November. Have had several cancelled. Make sure you are aware of the cruise protocols, I think all are requiring passengers be vaccinated now and most require a negative test near departure. You definitely want insurance now that covers at least the C and evac. (some lines will evac. you for the C now, but may change) You might only be allowed off on ship excursions at some ports, Capacity varies, but many are around 50% which is a benefit. Have you taken the cruise NCL before? There are various recent cruise reviews on YouTube.
We have one booked for March out of Miami. I am sure things will be sorted by then. We are also picking up another cruise in Vegas at Halloween.
thanks for the reply. Is the 50% the cruise line limit, or are they just not selling out? I’m going to book NCLs newest ship out of Miami and it seems pretty full.
Going on the NCL Getaway out of Miami in January. Will be triple vaccinated by then. Should be a great time hitting the ABC islands.
I did an 8 day Celebrity Apex cruise out of Athens in June. It was amazing - ship was 1/4 full (and brand new btw - first sailing) and most of the ports were relatively empty as well. 100% recommended for those who think they would enjoy a less crowded experience. Never had to wait for anything. I think it’s a little riskier now because of the likelihood of delta breakthrough infections. Even if you’re not worried about getting sick, there’s a chance (perhaps even significant chance) that your experience gets materially altered by cases onboard.
Booked a holiday cruise on Crystal. I more scared of having to spend a night in Florida than 11 days on a cruise ship.
A number of ships are below 50% due to lack of bookings even if they wanted to fill them more. Most said they are sailing at reduced capacity of 60% or less, Carnival has been higher. Some of the cruises around the holidays are normally pretty popular. I'd be surprised if they try to fill a ship. You might call or ask NCL, not sure they guarantee a certain capacity. Not sure you can tell online, they don't always show all rooms and possible they blocked some out.
I'm booked on NCL Bliss in December for my 7 stars cruise. I anticipate getting my booster shot in early October. NCL is full capacity and mask free. All aspects of the ship are open and there are no social distancing requirements.
