I have a $40 off of a $250 online purchase coupon as part of my new membership and am looking for some ideas on what to get with it. I think one thing that I am going to get is a mini portable hard drive for about $100, but other than that I can't think of what else to get using this coupon on their web site. I don't need another laptop or tablet and any ideas would be appreciated ... thanks

If it doesn't have to be electronics. Then olives, steaks, tp, paper towels

They have quite a few already discounted restaurant gift cards.

Unless you're different than the majority of Costco customers, just go there. You'll find things. Impulse purchases are part of their merchandising strategy.

You may find a winter jacket. Or an appliance. The holiday decorations will appear soon. Those that know their stuff can find good wine or excellent alcohol deals.

I go to Costco for coffee, vitamins and OTC drugs, some foods that will last or are in relatively small quantities. Bought a few TVs there, the tablet I using now. I'm usually unable to leave without a $4.99 monster rotisserie chicken.

    $40?

Just buy what you normally buy. Food, cleaning supplies, wine, soda, water, flowers, etc etc etc

I am a bit confused about the question.

EDIT - I reread the question and see this is for online only. So, a few of those things are in store only. Still - just buy stuff you would normally buy.

Costco is the only place where I go for one item (Toilet paper) and end up with a wagon full of steaks, dungeness crab, pork chops, huge pkg of Romaine Lettuce Hearts that half would spoil before I can eat them, a case of spam, monster jars of peanut butter, potato sack size packages of Doritos, Costco Jeans size 34X32,

and 7 Costco hotdogs with pepsi drinks for the gang at home.

The $19.99 pkg of toilet paper ends up more than $200 of "other stuff".

If you need to spend $250 online to get $40 off, I can think of a lot of things to buy, but it may not be what you want or need. LOL Usually when I order online, it's for stuff they don't normally carry in their brick & mortar stores or are too heavy or awkward to carry home myself.

Is it a.single item??? Or just any order that reaches $250? That would impact my strategy!

Just stock up on stuff you would normally buy. Order it online for pickup.

If you're buying stuff you don't really need or want just because you have a coupon, you're not getting any kind of a great deal.

You can get a 2 pack of Sonicare Toothbrushes for $99.95. Except for needing a crown replaced, my dental checkups have been nearly flawless since using one.

A 3 lb. 3 Oz. can of Folgers Coffee is on sale for $6.99 at my local Costco, that will yield 400 cups, so after buying the Sonicare, that is almost an 8 year supply of Joe. Not VMB Joe.

The double jar of jumbo olives is $10.99, so that will yield about 37 martinis based on 4 olives per martini. The Costco French Vodka is $19.99 for a 1.75 liter handle, so at a 4 Oz pour, that makes about 15 white blabbermouths. The regular Kirkland vodka is $12.99 and it’s a good mixer, but it’s not my first choice.

I would stock up on staples unless it is limited to one single item.
Of course I would go for items that include free shipping.

That sounds like the best bet as long as they are not excluded.

    50 chickens!?!!?

Seriously, as already suggested, order regular stuff online and pick it up. If you are not sure what's there, take a recon trip and make a list.

It can be multiple items, but it must be an online order.
