Radio edits will sometimes cut the song for time instead of letting the song end with a fade out.

Yes, I Can Feel It by The Kingston Trio

There are two versions. This one ends with “asunder.”

Many songs may be identified by a word or phrase unique to that song. "Distant thunder" is not such a phrase.

yes, I am finding that out --- there are almost 5000 songs with those words --- I think I will only find it if I hear it again and can catch the title- or the singer -- or another line of lyrics!

It's less useful in a car setting, but if I am at a restaurant or bar and hear a song I like, I use the Shazam app to tell me the name of the song and artist.

This. I will add that you can add Shazam to your iphone control center for easier access.

@nancyf - I’m wondering if you can tell us when you lived in NJ/Philly - that could help us narrow things.

Also what does “oldie” mean? I’m in my mid 50s, so oldies to me is anything from the 70s and prior. However, the 80s were a long *ss time ago.
