The burgundy rooms are pretty nice. The floor theme is great. They definitely need to fix the restaurants, though.

The interesting part is..the dealers at Eldorado (Reno) we’re some of the friendliest (because it was the last table-for-table tips)
The comps have never been great from Eldorado though (been a player there a LONG time)

I imagine they are aware of the shellacking they are taking on social media. My guess is they dismiss this as a small number of disgruntled people with loud voices who will be easily replaced with people who accept the new normal.

CET has LONG been shameless as promoting middle of the road/tacky experiences as “luxury”. This is a Harrahs tradition.

Caesars Palace was once THE premier brand name in the gaming universe. Well into the 1990s they competed with Mirage for the top spot in people’s minds perception-wise.

Even today, ask anyone who has never been to Vegas, particularly if they are not American, to name a casino. The top answer will STILL be Caesars Palace, and it feels like a must visit to any first time visitor. All my European friends have always wanted to stay there if I gave them options.

The actual quality of CP has been declining since 2005–for the reason stated above. It has nosedived this year, but many people don’t know that yet. I’m still hopeful the ship can be righted if a lot of significant play moves elsewhere in the near future. They have a lot to work with if they want to make it work.

I agree at this point being associated with Caesars Entertainment is a negative perception-wise for all their other properties in LV and nationwide. They still bring tons of people in who are attached to total rewards, but that attachment is weakening for many.

On my very first trip to Las Vegas, more decades ago than I care to admit, Caesars Palace was by far the most upscale and the only casino in which I actually got those "I Am Not Worthy" vibes.

The thing I remember most was that all other casinos had attention-getting signs and flashing lights, but Caesars had a static sign and the main hotel building was bathed in a subdued azure light.

I agree that the VMB posters may know the current reality, but movies like Rainman and The Hangover which feature Ceasars Palace still capture the popular imagination.

A quick request that we keep this thread factual and based in reality and refrain from hyperbole and exaggeration. I just removed a post comparing Reeg to Caligula because that felt like just a few dozen steps too far.

The topic of your dislike of CET/Eldorado and factual information on the changes being made is fine, but can we please keep it based in reality and keep they hyperbole to a minimum to keep it from going off the rails.

    Thanks.

Yah, to me, Paris isnt currently competitive with Luxor. The standard burgundy room is nicer than Luxor's worst rooms, but if you compare what you get for a fixed price, the 1,200 square foot suite I was in at Luxor last time was slightly cheaper retail than a Paris Burgundy Room was for the same nights, and at that point, theres no comparison. Luxor has the far better pool, better gaming value, far better customer service in my recent experience with the exception of my one stay where they experimented with no allowing access to the front desk, but they already flipped that back. Paris looks a little more elegant in the casino but I like Luxors game selection better Paris has the better location, but comparing retail, you're looking at a tower suite at Luxor for the cost of a burgundy room, and the tower suite is a significant upgrade from a burgundy room, at least to me, but to each his or her own.

If they're reading this, they really should pay attention. How many people on this board over the years have said that they're the one people they know go to when they want info on Vegas? Most everyone on on here is probably the "Vegas person" in their circle. That's sure a lot of people steering other people away from their properties.

I'm so attached to Total Rewards, and I know CET is selling a property at some point. This whole time, I've been hoping it wouldn't be Ballys. Now I hope Ballys is the one that is sold, so hopefully it will be fixed and I can go back there.

CET went out and bought one of the biggest books, William Hill, changed the name to Caesars Sportsbook and Casino, and will sell off the overseas portion. CET gets to keep all of the revenue and they don’t have to split it with any partners running the back room.

If you look at recent reports coming out of NJ, the mobile portion is growing much faster than the brick and mortar. Reeg is probably licking his chops: no employees, no comped booze, and he doesn’t have to feed you. He will throw you a bone in the form of Rewards Credits. Just imagine when NY legalizes mobile Sports books, then California. Yes, they pay higher gaming taxes to the state, but his overhead is much less.

Paris “looks a little more elegant” but on close inspection some of those chandeliers are now more haunted house than Parisian palace decor.

You would not see plastic beverage cups in Paris, France, either…

I noticed that Good Morning America on Friday has the Summer Concert Series sponsored by Caesars Rewards which is broadcast on a big video screen in New York which prominently features Caesars Rewards.

People are definitely "too online" here on this, for sure. My goodness, CP after the Hangover was the worst value for $ spent in Vegas for YEARS as is

Not sure if it has been noted on here, but one thing I find funny amidst all the vegas belt tightening is Eldorado shelling out millions for naming rights to the superdome, and some other deal they have with the houston texans.

I just find the juxtaposition funny. They are spending a bunch to market their brand, while imploding their brand image among their existing customer base.

I'm going to rant (in general about Caesars/Eldorado), but let me start with this: as a break evenish sports bettor who sometimes bets low-mid four figures on a games, I can't f---ing believe how much casinos limit action/complain about the sports book as a loss leader. You're taking action at -110... grow some f---ing balls and take some action. $1100 bets getting sweated like it's going to bankrupt the book/company.

Ok, on to Caesars/Eldo, and bitching specifically about "The Row," to which I am fairly new:

-I get emailed Resort Credit/Free Play offers, but they don't show up on the Caesars Rewards iPhone app or the totalrewards.com website (other than some Harrah's NOLA offers). It's a year into the merger; spend some f---ing money on tech.

-I visited on a whim and "got a room"/checked in at the Gold Room (VIP room) at the Eldorado. Given that I am full comp EVERYWHERE on the website (other than a small number of Saturdays in Tahoe), I assumed it would be free. WRONG. I got billed, and am still having to deal with that (though it's only been a week or two so I'll be patient.

-The VIP check in/lounge at the Silver Legacy was closed. This one is forgivable.

-The check in line was long enough on a non-descript weekday that it felt like they were baiting people into using the new (?) automated check-in machines. When I had to go see a human to get a new key (I accidentally demagnetized mine), the employee was dealing with the fallout of a guest whose card was charged THREE TIMES at the machine. Was it machine or human error?... I don't know, but it shouldn't have happened and probably didn't happen in a vacuum.

-I went (by myself) to eat at the diner/coffee shop at ~11 p.m., right during what looked like a shift change. The employees didn't seem either mopey or super motivated... just standard shift change stuff. Some woman started pulling her best #attentionwhoringwhitetrash power moves/bravado and caused a scene. Frankly, if I didn't have a Diamond card (and ergo got to be first in line), I probably would have bailed.

-I'm a light to moderate drinker, like 5-15 drinks a month. But hey, when in Rome... it literally took 45 minutes to an hour to have cocktail service come by, and another 15+ minutes to get it delivered. "Here's your red wine sir, but we are out of sparkling water." C'mon man, it's a slow weekday. Hire a bar back.

-Employee morale sucked, and I don't blame them. Cocktail waitresses seemed frazzled, housekeepers looked like they were on the Bataan Death March... as humans, we feed off of the emotions of those around us, and it was unpleasant.

Was it a terrible experience? No. Was it something I'm going to continually subject myself to? I'd like to think not, but we will see how much of a dumbass/degen I really am.

I had no idea that Harrah’s only controlled Caesars for 3 years before they got hit by the recession. I guess most of my initial CET experiences came under Apollo management.

Which mall? The open space in front of the towers or the underground lair with video games? What was there before they had an open space out front?
