I'll be glad when they reopen. I enjoy going back and forth from MSS and the Cal. When they open that'll help some of the food issues and add a little variety. As long as I can get some free rooms with my play I'll be happy.

yeah these posts probably all belong in a "wtf is Boyd doing now*?" thread.
but that will probably also be filled with speculation and opinions.
I truly don't envy the mods jobs.

Wait, so Triple 7 ISN'T changing it's name to Triple 6 and only serving deviled eggs? PHEW! :wink2: /sarcasm

I definitely understand where the mods are coming from but I also think that ultimately a lot of us are simply bored and the Fantasy of various potential reopening date scenarios gives us almost the same feelings that we get by living vicariously through someone's trip report...and a LOT of trip reports are heavily embellished but we enjoy them just the same

Speculation can at times be as volatile as opinions. Yet it seems opinions are allowed.

Speculations can be harmless if stated as such. A speculation. Just like an opinion can be respected if stated as such. Just an opinion.

Agree and the title of the thread feeds this train of thought.

My plan is to work on cleaning up this thread later today. I have some ideas to make a larger percentage of people pleased with our solution here that also stays within our guidelines. More on that later.

I split off the discussion about downtown gaming limits to its own thread in the Casino Gaming Section.

Also, this is why I don't love speculation threads:

    Wrong.
    Wrong.
    Wrong.
    Wrong.
    Wrong.
    Wrong.
    Wrong-ish. ;)

There were a couple of other posts asking if these dates were rumors or real. That kind of confusion is why we have limited speculation about reopening dates after the COVID closure across the board.

Maybe? I guess we shall see.

There are a few people here and elsewhere who know people who could be actually knowledgeable about the opening date plans. They are all telling me that September is the current target.

How is this different from what people were told before? It might not be, but people here have made clear that being able to speculate about the date is important.

My solution: I'm opening up a new thread titled "RUMOR: MSS Reopening in September?" in this section. Speculate away, as long as we label it as a rumor until it is confirmed by MSS or Boyd.

We can continue with general chat about MSS in here, but the speculation on the opening date topic should only be had in the "RUMOR" thread.

    Thanks or your patience!

I hope it’s true. I like MSS. The more casinos open the better. More gaming options, lodging options, eating options and drinking options. I like options.

I love the MSS. It was my go to parking spot and I hope that doesn't change.

we stayed in the hotel once for 3 days 2 years ago. The hotel room was filthy under the bed and the room was horrible. Will never stay there again. W e did like the buffet for breakfast and the 777 but anything else
    sucked

We started gambling at MSS back about the time they opened, but probably didn't start staying there until about 3 years later. But, I do not remember a coffee shop back there.

There was. The coffe shop could have been two years before they closed in the mid nineties. Maybe they didn't reopen it the last time they closed.
Our first trip Downtown was to the MSS, before the internet, we had to go through a travel agent. We received a booklet with coupons for eating at MS each day. They only had coupons for the buffet and coffee shop. I'm not sure Pullman was there at the time. Even if it was, the coupon book wouldn't have had coupons for eating there. We never used all the coupons as we wanted to try other eating places. The Buffett at Freemont was big at the time. Also Binion's Horseshoe had a pretty good and cheap strip steak special early morning. The good old days.
Sure wish I had kept one of those early eating coupon books from MSS. I would have had my answer to the name I'm looking for.

    Something to think about.
How many Downtown Players Clubs have a large room like the MSS? That room was for something else. It wasn't built for a Player's Club.
I realize the MSS had a different name at one time, but I do know it was named MSS when we first stayed there and ate at that coffee shop using our coupon booklet.
