Anyone have any picks for casinos they think deserve more love on here? Downtown deserves all the love it gets, but I have to say on the north end of the strip both Treasure Island and Sahara provide pretty good value options. Games/limits are playable and both properties are easy to get room comps at. I've had a lot of good interactions with employees at both properties.

Ellis Island, Cannery and Jerry's Nugget are always must visits while I'm in town.

I have been advised, based simply on recent renovations and the atmosphere, that The STRAT deserves consideration. (I've heard nothing about any other aspect of the property - only that it now looks good)

As of my last trip (December 2017), I would consider the following as 'underrated', in no particular order:

    Jerry's Nugget (love their blackjack)
    Aliante (like their sportsbook)
Sam's Town (like their variety of machines)
    Silverton (like the atmosphere)

I would agree with all of the above and add :
    M
    Rampart
    Santa Fe
also loved the Eastside Cannery when open.
Tuscany and the Silver Sevens seem pretty good too.

    to me:

ellis island walking distance from back of ballys High Roller
    new orleans

I added southpoint from all the latest trip reports on how much value it has and not far from the strip.

and too many to list downtown. like i tell anyone who asked me.. IF the strip is taking all your money hope on the duece, and jump from casino to casino all just across the street from each other, cheaper, better and smaller and more player oriented .

I've also heard that The Strat is now nothing to be sneezed at. I haven't been there but do want to check it out some night when I'm there. They do some comedy shows I'd like to see.

I'll submit the Suncoast. That was my locals casino when I lived there. It was new then, had great restaurants, friendly staff, and made low rollers like myself feel like we were whales. I didn't even gamble there so much as eat. This was the only place in Vegas I've had actual fresh seafood. No idea what it's like now though, haven't been there since at least 2008.

learning that the CW's at el cortez keep a cooler full of beer directly behind the blackjack tables for constant, no wait refills was roughly akin to the discovery of electricity.

Arizona Charlies Decatur. Live music on at least Saturday night, pretty good video poker, friday/sunday point promos, good coffee shop and casino seems pretty clean. Plus, i got a spatula and halloween cocktail glasses as promo gifts. Can’t beat that.

Is this current? As in within the past several weeks at least? If so, what kind of live music?

I’m in the minority who thinks that downtown is majorly OVERrated.

As for underrated, I think that OYO (formerly Hooters) is the most underrated joint in town. It’s a 2 minute walk from the MGM Grand, and less than 15 from a bunch of others on the south strip. $5 craps, $1 blackjack, cheap drinks, and friendly dealers. It still looks like Hooters inside, but it’s way better than Ellis Island, imho.

I guess, if the pit is open. I was there yesterday morning @ 9:30, and not one table game was up and running, even though they advertise 24/7 blackjack.

Tuscany Casino. Live music most nights in the Piazza Lounge. The cafe and the Italian Restaurant are both solid. The comp system has 2 sides, one for play on machines and the other as food comp. Great cocktail service and video poker as well.

Looks like they are still doing the live music. I was out there less than a month ago. I think it was a band and not just a solo artist when I was there. I was roaming around the casino and didn’t go over to the band area. They were’t too loud and played some classic rock, etc. Sounded good.

    Thanks.

It seems like all of the bars on the Strip that used to have live bands don't have them now, with Covid being the excuse. I'm sorry, but if you have the velvet rope clubs open, that excuse does not pass the smell test.

But back to Arizona Charlies ... I've always liked it there, and I've done very well there, VP wise, and they do have a good selection of the slots I like as well.

Last time I remember being there I thought of their cocktail service as a DUI summons just waiting to happen! Their mixed drinks were not at all watered down and the service was frequent.

The only problem with them is that they are out in the toolies, or well, sorta out in the toolies.

Palace Station. I've heard the crowd has deetiolated recently. It is a buried gem, conveniently located close to the strip, and a bunch of very good restaurants that people don't generally make it to.

The Strat sent me some photos of their new baccarat pit. I haven't been, but it looks ok to me from what I've seen, and sounds ok from my conversations with them.

Sahara. They were aggressively seeking players, and the treatment was good. The atmosphere was nice, but uncrowded. Bazaar Meats is great. Very expensive for what I order, but unmatched.

TI, but only in terms of someplace to stay, and a fairly decent high limit room for lower rollers.

Some others, but my criteria is basically quiet, undisturbed baccarat, unrestricted cigar smoking within reason and either good restaurants onsite, or nearby.

I'd honestly say Wynn is underrated for lower level table game players. They don't turn away a $100 per hand player, and some comps are available at this level. That's possibly different with the
    recent capacity in LV though.

Transportation is a requirement in my view, as I don't like to be held hostage by any single casino.

The “toolies” may be far out there but it ain’t the strip…..surprised you didn’t venture beyond… plus less lurkers behind you as you play games of various genres off strip….… still there….creepier….……but less often…..

If you are just rating the casino I find Mandalay Bay to be morgue like.
