I don't have a problem with either, and there are several here that do it really well. My problem with them lately is I will read one in progress and not get back to it until it's already over! But that's my fault, not theirs.

I'm also impressed at those who keep up with it. I'm too detailed and wordy for a live TR. And M takes the better pictures anyway.

I like both, it's like reading a short story in someone elses perspective.
I have jotted down many suggestions and off the wall places i never knew existed till i saw them in a trip report.

from tacos el gordo/nacho daddy, to lethai/lotus of siam
to momofoku and off the strip chinese places
to the real downtown vs the strip differences.

to the fact that 5$ games at excalibur are long gone now, and have to go downtown to get my fix now.

or Ellis island an oasis for the cheap/budget gambler with cheap gambling and great food at a great price.

or the "secret" shortcuts between places and fawning over Wynn/venenita/palazzo and cosmo fountain view rooms.

I love the excitement of live reports.

I prefer the traditional report, whether it's one long report or divided into days. Don't mind live if it's not what I call Twitter style. A couple of sentences followed by 3 or 4 reader comments. And so on and so on......
You could break a wrist scrolling through a report like that! Give me something chew on with each entry.
Live or not, the one that drives me crazy are endless screen shots of the same win on the same machine at the same time. Just tell me you hit it four more times.
The cardinal sin to me though is the unfinished report. Live or not, this drives me nuts. You get the first day or so and bdee, bdee, bdee, that's all folks!

I have to do live, there's no way I could remember enough to do a decent narrative a when I got home.

I enjoy both types of reports. The nice thing about a live report is that if you catch it at the right time and they are somewhere you have a question about, you can usually post your question and get an answer on that specific topic.

As for writing reports, I will never do a live TR. I sit in front of a computer all day for work, so when I am not working, I try my best to stay away from all technology, especially when on vacation!!! I am not a drinker, so I can usually recall most of my trip after I get home enough to write a complete report.

I enjoy both and really appreciate the contributions of everyone that does them.
Unfortunately, I am incapable of doing them.
I get caught up in the moment of gambling , drinking, and dining and usually partying with friends.
Always forget to take pics and then I figure it's too late. Before every trip I plan on doing a TR.
    It just never happens.:(

I prefer a really nice write up trip report with pictures, it is just those are a lot more work.

And while I used to not like live ones at all, there is a little bit of second hand excitement/anticipation to be rooting for someone while they are there.

In terms of doing reports, I would much rather to a write up after in theory. But the last one of those I tried I never finished and they are even more work when you are organizing pictures.

I don’t mind the live TRs. It depends on what properties the OP is reporting from, if it is a property that I frequent and how long the report is. I like the pictures along with any updated info on the property. As others have said, thanks to all of those who do the live TRs.

Maybe there needs to be a subsection (live/summary) of vegas / non-vegas trip reports. Then you won’t have to read the drivel of the undesired.
Every time I try to do a low-key informative only trip report which provides only the facts ma’am, it gets killed by the time we reach the first escalator in the vegas airport.
    I am hopeless.
So make notes—-skip THIS guy ^^^
if any semblance of sanity is precious. Or even mildly important as there is a challenge to it’s retention in every post.

I tried the post trip TR, but that doesn't work for me. Recently, I used my tablet and that's ok. What works best for me is to take daily notes and then do the report at home.
A live report for me won't work since I hate typing on my phone.

I like both, especially the ones that go to the seldom visited off strip casino's, interesting to see how they look as I doubt I would ever get to them. Only thing I don't like in either live or post reports are pictures of half eaten meals! :vomit:

I always plan on NOT doing a trip report. I'm in LV for 2 weeks and it's just too long to expect anyone to follow. But, then I realize I want to do it for my recollection of my trip. I try to limit the things that are just repeats of other trip reports...40AKs in vp, airport pics, simple meals...and concentrate on events that are out of the box for a usual trip, meals that are special, and other things that are milestones of a trip for me. I enjoy that others may want to follow along. I enjoy the banter as I'm solo and it gives me communication to people who might be interested in what I'm doing. I'm retired and in LV for 2 weeks so taking a couple of minutes every so often for an entry or a picture is no big deal. I'm not on the 30 y.o. 'Gotta get as much party in as I can in 48 hours before I have to head back to work and a job I hate.' train anymore...thank God.

I love all of the types of TR's and I give credit to those who keep up with their live TR's. One thing I have never done is watch a music video on this board. I skip them all. LOL

That's the key for me. Anyone even trying to make a positive contribution is A-OK in my book.

The solution, obviously, is to spend more time on the internet.

I enjoy either type of TR and make an attempt to at least get a sampling of most of them.

Like many others have mentioned, I also write Live TRs as much for me as I do for the rest of the forum. Its one thing to have pictures to look at on my computer but its completely different when I can go back and read my comments about those pics from my TRs - they really put those pics in context and they bring back the memories ten-fold. Besides, there always seem to be some very witty repartee in posts from fellow VMBers that never fail to bring a smile to my face when I read my TRs years later.

Also, among the many reasons why I prefer to write a Live TR the one at the top of the list is that my posts really help me slow my roll. When I'm in the casino I'll sit down at a slot, have a smoke and a bottle of water and post pics of slot wins, strip walk pics, food, drinks etc. These little breaks really help me relax a little bit and not spend near as much time gambling as I would otherwise. This is a biggie for me on those 10+ day trips. When I get up to my room at night I am really wired so sitting back in bed, watching TV and writing up a daily recap on my iPad is the perfect way to unwind. Same thing for all my solo dining. Posting food pics keeps me busy between courses. For my long trips doing a Live TR works great, it slows me down and keeps me a little occupied in those idle moments. When I go out there for a two or three day trip, usually for a concert, I don't do a TR because time is a precious commodity.

Part of my pre-trip ritual is to read all of my TRs during the week before departure and this never fails to get me amped up for my trip. I've done a few Live TRs and have never regretted putting in the time. All that being said, I totally get why people who go on shorter trips prefer to do their write-ups when they get home. Either way, a TR is a TR and they only add value to VMB.

I spend enough time there, just shifted. Damn online Sportsbooks and juicy promos. Been a nice side gig for the past ~year. I just rooted on the Swedish handball team to lose by 2 goals or less to keep an Olympic promotional parlay live (you get 50% back in site credit if you miss one or two legs of 4+ up to $25 back). They lost by 2 goals, 29-27... yay Sweden! And betting on handball by itself just amazes me. Haha

I just gotta make sure i don't bet enough negative stuff when the good promos end. I'm honestly shocked it lasted a ~year here.
