I want to venture around in Summerlin this next trip.

    - What's the condition of the rooms?
    - Are the rooms "far" from the casino? (I may have my dad with me & he has mobility issues)

It's between here or Sunset Station, but it's going to cost upwards of $350 to stay at Sunset vs. free at Suncoast.

Great rooms at Suncoast. Ask for a golf course view.

We really like Suncoast especially if you get a golf course view. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. The casino is huge. That being said we also like SS but don't like the bathroom layout at all and it's one of the reasons why we don't stay there anymore.

I think Suncoast was built as a sister casino to South Point (formerly Southcoast). I believe the resort is very similar but a bit smaller…similar to Orleans and Gold Coast being sister properties but Orleans is a bit larger…or TI and Park (formerly Monte Carlo) being built as sister properties.
So, anyway, if you like the feel of being at South Point, it’s probably similar at Suncoast.

We live close by and like Suncoast because it has nickel Keno at the bar along with the only bar that has diet Sierra mist for our crown royal. You and your dad will like the place. It's an easy going, big property.

I think Suncoast is a very nice option, and for free it’s a no-brainer. If I recall correctly it’s probably a longer walk from the front desk to get to the elevators than it is from the rooms to the casino floor. You could request a room closer to the elevators which should limit the amount of walking your dad would need to do.

Absolutely agree to getting a golf view room. As a bonus, it also provides a nice view of the Red Rock Canyon area too.

Stayed at Suncoast earlier this month on a 3 night comp, rooms are pretty large at 550sf, with a refrigerator included at no charge, although could use a refresh they were very clean and had double sinks and a separate room for the toilet and shower, coffee was provided in the room,, elevators are located pretty close to the casino floor, long hallways though so ask for a room close to the elevator, we also had a golf course view which I recommend, I found the casino to be a little on the small side compared to the Orleans's, (where I normally stay, but have been tight with their comps lately). Had breakfast at Dupars which was very good and took advantage of the social hour at 90 ninety which was very good, the pool was on the small side and also has no shade as no umbrellas are provided.
If you self park in the garage expect a very long walk to the casino and room elevators, valet was open which I recommend. Only one bar was opened which was pretty crowded at various times during the day and night, but we always managed to find a seat. Drink service was somewhat lacking especially on the outer edges of the casino. Crowds were minimal during the week.
Didn't really venture to far outside but if you inclined the Rampart casino is close by and also the Tivoli village which has restaurants and shops, not within walking distance mind you but a 5 minute drive, Red Rock resort was about 15 minutes away, the resort is located pretty far from the strip and downtown so take that into consideration, would I stay there again? Yes I found it to be a very comfortable laid back stay with good food options, the only negative was that the steakhouse wasn't open during our stay, only on the weekends it seems.
Almost forgot, they have a movie theater on the main floor, a medium size sports book if you are inclined and a large bingo parlor upstairs. Hope this answers most of your questions.

I agree and there are times I get confused between the two since they seem so similar. The room lay-out of the two are very similar, especially the bathrooms. One good thing about Southpoint is there are always a line of taxis outside the main entrance if you want to utilize it to get to the Strip. Suncoast not so much, it's way out in the suburbs of Summerlin whereas Southpoint, although roughly 8 miles from Mandalay, is doable and the fact that there are taxis outside Southpoint shows a lot of people visit Southpoint from the Strip and vice versa with the Southpoint patrons.

But Southpoint is bigger with a large quantity and types of machines in VP and slots. I like both of these properties and can see myself staying at Southpoint more often in the future.

Suncoast and Rampart are the locals casinos closest to Sun City Summerlin. LOTS of retirees there, I'm pushing 50 and felt like a teenager walking around there.

Suncoast has nice big rooms and a nice casino, but it's very quiet and low energy, at least midweek. If you're looking for solid food and a relaxing time, you could do a lot worse. If you're looking for lively, look elsewhere.

Yay, I'm down to hang out with the retirees. I'm 41 but got an old soul :p

Definitely not looking for lively. We had that when we stayed at Cosmo for 5 nights this past trip. We're going for the exact opposite this time around, lol.

Suncoast will be a great option then. Super relaxed, low key - the surrounding area is really nice too. Tivoli Village, downtown Summerlin are a very short drive away. You also have the Red Rock casino a hop skip and a jump away if you want a change of venue.

Anyone know what the table minimums are like at Suncoast? Reading these comments makes us interested in going there in a few weeks and trying to get some comped rooms for our next trip.

We stayed/played at Suncoast in early May this year and craps tables were $10 min with one table having the STA side bet. The BJ tables are also $10 min. and they had both pitch and shoe BJ. We're headed back to Vegas in just over a week and will be staying at Orleans and South Point this trip (Aug. 10-18). Suncoast also has lots of VP. We really like Suncoast - it's kind of like the Orleans, not quite as big, but just a little more refined (the only negative for us is no poker).

We just got back from Suncoast today and had a great time. We first stayed at Suncoast about three years ago since we were doing a tour of Red Rock. It is now our favorite hotel/casino. It is an older crowd of locals but they are much friendlier than the locals we encountered at Orleans, which we also like. Staff is also very friendly. We venture over to Rampart more than Red Rocks, but both are close and fun alternatives.

This sounds perfect. We don't like to party, at all. We want to gamble, eat and go to bed. An older crowd would be the crowd we are looking for.

I would also add that while the spa is very small and limited, the massages are reasonably priced and very, very good in our opinion. We always schedule Elvira.
