    My Trip Report

A fully detailed trip report in snippets can be found at this blog address
Non Vegas Poker:local Foxwoods, Turning Stone, Four Winds, Tampa, Chicago Horseshoe others (foxwoodspokertr.blogspot.com)

Here are the bare bones of the trip:

Drove from home the two and a half hours to Turning Stone.

Played poker and a little video poker, then checked in The Landing Campground where for $30 I get a fine bathroom close by, electric, a picnic table, and a spot to park my 2012 Dodge Caravan set up for sleeping.

Ate supper at the Savoy in Rome, and played poker again until eleven.

    Slept until six.

Took a walk along the water.

    Slept until 8:30.

    Breakfast at Mary's Diner.

Back for poker until almost six o'clock and then home before dark.

I lost this trip. Lost $50 in video poker and $57 in live poker 2-4.

    Thanks for posting.

There is really no drink service-- at all-- in the Turning Stone poker room?

I ask because a friend of mine and I are going to a concert next month in the Syracuse area, and I thought we'd stop at Turning Stone during the day, before the night-time concert. We both like playing poker. We are driving from suburban Rochester. Drink service is important to both of us. But if there is none, we might do Del Lago instead.

Sorry for your loss at both live poker and VP, but at least it was minimal for both.

I'm also curious as to when the poker room at Rivers in Schenectady will return.

Back in the fall of 2017, work sent me on a business trip to Schenectady. Though I didn't stay at the hotel in Rivers, I was in a hotel only 1 mile away. I went to Rivers in the evening.

They had a poker room. Here is a picture from then, showing my stack.

One noteable hand, I was outkicked on a flush by only one increment. The villian, I remember, had a queen vs. my jack. Ouch.

I'm sorry it hear that it closed. But you believe it will reopen?

I did not see any and there were folks complaining. The bar in the poker room was also closed. Alcohol is never free at Turning Stone anyway. I really don't know what the high rollers get at this new Parlour lounge, but I know free drinks is one advantage. However, there is often a line. Sorry. I don't drink alcohol anymore, so I'm not an authority. Give the Turning Stone a call to clarify.

Raisingoo: The new Rivers manager sent out an announcement that they expect to open by September and I know from other sources that there was never any decision to leave it closed and only hiring was slowing them up for reopening. I don't know if they will have both NL and Limit games. I hope so. Their 3-6 was my go to game.

    Hello Rivers Casino Guests,

I am excited to be joining the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady family as the new General Manager. I have learned the casino and hotel business from the ground up, with over 40 years of experience in various gaming markets, I am ready to lead the Rivers Casino Schenectady team into even greater success in the future.

With that being said, we are working towards improving your gaming experience. Beginning on Monday, July 19, 2021 the Rivers Casino Team will be working around the clock making changes to the gaming floor to make room for more tables games and to prepare the gaming floor to reopen the Poker room. Though we do not have an official reopening date for the Poker room, our goal is to be ready to reopen it by September 2021. Once this date can be confirmed, an official announcement will be made. We are also working towards bringing live entertainment every weekend to Van Slyck's.

We are excited for the future and we thank you for your continued patronage. We hope to see you soon and I am looking forward to seeing you on the casino floor.

When Griffiss Air Force Base closed it was a blow to the area and some places never survived, but The Savoy hangs on. They are not always open. I hope that will change.
