I could never enjoy myself in Las Vegas wearing a mask

I wore a KN95 mask when flying to Vegas in May; that was rather stifling to me, so I switched to surgical masks when indoors and was ok - certainly much happier for me to be in Vegas with a mask than at home mask-free  Even though I am fully vaccinated, as I was in May, I think I will still wear a mask while indoors (and probably in most of the outdoors areas I might be too - FSE for one is generally quite busy) next week during my trip :)

Wearing a mask doesn't bother me. I can have fun with it on, no problem. The increase in table minima definitely affects me a lot more than wearing a mask.

We’ll postpone our trip if masks are required. Husband will not go if masks are mandated.

If you're fully vaccinated, you definitely could argue to have a more comfortable mask. But I would be more hesitant to suggest that to the unvaccinated. Sure, N95 is the "cream of the crop" when it comes to filtering out small particles like Covid-19, but even basic cloth masks have been shown to be 70%+ effective.

And like others have said, there is currently no mandate on "fully vaccinated" guests to wear masks. Unfortunately this has lead to about 95% of guests not wearing masks as @Kisby said since casinos have done nothing to verify your vaccination status. So it's very likely SOME of those unmasked guests are also unvaccinated.

@JWBlue - it’s definitely a personal thing and you should trust your instincts. We’re all different.

I just got back on Sunday. I’m vaccinated and was willing to mask up, in order to gamble. I got really anxious on Saturday when it got crowded. Wasn’t expecting that.

People on the board (including me) have mentioned that mask compliance is currently 5-10% in Vegas which should factor into your decision. Are you ok with it or will it freak you out. My wife and son hated it. You know you better than anyone else. Good luck!

I enjoyed myself just fine throughout 2020 and early 2021 while wearing a mask. I went six times. Didn't inhibit me at all.

I'll acknowledge that June 2021 without a mask was a little liberating. But that was mostly a mental thing, as in "ah, it's nice as I leave the room that I don't need to remember to put on a mask.

I understand it's not mandatory for hotel/casino guests, but I kinda got used to it here in the local casinos. I was very judicious about it before I was Fully Vaccinated (tm) although I would hang it from one ear while enjoying a beverage while seated at a machine. I probably would be OK with it in LV as long as they were not total b*tches about it ("Now put it back on completely between sips!"), which never happened to me, but I heard from people who were nagged about it.

I’m going to Vegas in another month and a half and I will be wearing a maskI (fully vaccinated). I can already envision how great it’s going to be.

It’s all psychological. As humans we’ve found better alternatives to protect ourselves from the elements. The mask is just another layer of protection…

Here's a question for those who have visited LV within the past week or so, what is the approximate percentage of casino players who wear masks?

Around here, for our local casinos, a couple of weeks ago I would estimate that the masked percentage was about 5% or so, but last weekend it appeared to be higher, maybe 10-15% or so.

A few posts above 5-10% has been estimated. That estimate has also been given in many trip reports.

It was bothersome at first to wear the mask, but when I go out in Vegas I don't notice it much now.

I am somewhat libertarian in nature and had a much harder time adjusting to the seatbelt requirement back in the day. But not wearing a seatbelt only affected me and not others, so wearing a seatbelt felt like much more of an infringement on my personal rights.

I am vaccinated. I've gone to my local casinos several times since the casinos reopened and the mask mandates were still in place, wore a mask with no problem. I'm going in 4 weeks to Vegas, and even though I didn't wear one on my May trip, things have changed. I plan on wearing one inside, depending. At 4:00 a.m. it's probably not necessary. But during the more crowded times, I'm going to wear one. I will also wear it when using public transportation. Walking the strip - no.

Went to Vegas once last year during the mandatory mask mandate and did not enjoy it. If the mask mandate is reinstated for guests I'll cancel my upcoming trip and visit Anguilla or another place in the Caribbean that is only open to fully vaccinated guests.

I don't mind wearing one, but I hope the casinos are cooler inside than they were when I went in Sept and April. I thought it was very hot in all the casinos both trips. Except V/P it was nice and cold.

I was concerned until I did it. All the activities that are available are the same, but with a thin piece of cloth or paper over your face. It took me maybe 2 or 3 hours to almost entirely tune it out subconsciously, and had almost no effect on any activity nor my enjoyment level. Staying in nice suites and or balcony rooms at Cosmo helped a little with more breathing room if I wanted a break, but when I stayed in a regular room at Caesars Palace I still just stepped outside a few times to breathe freely, and I think that was more down to the smoke than the mask.

I'd recommend trying it before deciding how you feel about it, but to each his or her own. If you're a once or twice a year or fewer Vegas type person, I can totally understand and appreciate wanting to wait until things are exactly how you want them to be and maximize your enjoyment. My trips have been a little less frequent lately, but my 4th of July trip is the only one since 2019 where masks werent required everywhere outside the room, and I enjoyed the other 4 trips with masks about as much as any other, excepting maybe the first trip which was less enjoyable mostly due to the significant quality downturn in Caesars Palace, transportation scarcity, and other things not related to masks.

I took several trips during the mask mandate and enjoyed each one. With that being said, since I have had a few trips now without the mandate I now remember how much nicer it is to not have it on, little things like sipping a coffee while walking and not getting told to mask up. A mandate returns and I will second guess taking future trips.

We just went mask optional in our office this week as we are all now double vaccinated. Definitely liberating. Not sure i would enjoy a primary indoor vacation mask on unless there is no light on the horizon. Holding off for now...

Yes, very much so. It made drinking awkward and kept me from smoking cigars but I still enjoyed my trips. June 2020 to June 2021 I averaged about one trip per month. Seems I enjoyed it enough to keep going back.

I went in November and April with masks and then June without. It felt good not to wear the mask but I wouldn't hesitate to go again if they returned the mask mandates.
What would make me stay home would be if they brought back the plexiglass dividers at the table games. I felt claustrophobic (I'm a big guy) and it was so hard to communicate with the dealers or just talk with other players.
A silver lining - if they brought back player mask mandates and the crowds eased back a bit it would help with the staffing situations.
