I do know in some circumstances especially a hosted relationship it may make sense to think about taking a lesser room. If you know you'll be short on Theo and don't want to screw over a good relationship etc...

But on the other hand I have also had trips where I said I'm not going to play a lot and then end up doing 25k coin in that first night! Ha

No, I usually get an Augustus or Octavian room at Caesars. This room is big enough for my needs even if I’m traveling with one friend. Then I’ll get a queen room or a smaller Queen suite.
I usually have the same bankroll per day when I go to the casino. It doesn’t vary much trip to trip.
One of my trips in Vegas will be a Seven Stars retreat. If I see a good offer I ask for it to be added to my stay. So far my host always been adding that to my trip. Also if I have three or four people I’ve been able to get a second room comped.
My host knows how I play and she’s been my host for about 8 years and I’ve gotten what I’ve ask for I guess because I never short play. I know what I’m asking for is not a big stretch.

I always take as much as I can get upfront with one exception. Sometimes I will take a standard room even if offered a suite to leave more room for back end food and bev comps IF I think I will need them and play will warrant them.

If I think the trip may be low play I will take whatever I can get up front and assume I will get nothing more.

If my bankroll is less than normal, I sometimes take an offer at a property that I don't mind not receiving any future offers from. Cosmo and Bellagio fall into this category for me. There have been times where I bypassed all offers and comp'd myself by paying for the room. I find it's less pressure and I have absolutely no obligation to gamble which makes for a more relaxed visit. It's not for everyone, but works for me.

Bird in hand. There are externalities you can't control. If you pass an offer they could get worse based on demand for rooms in Vegas or the casino just tightening its belt.

This likely obvious, but I pick the cheapest room on a double booking. I had the same food credit offer through CET at all the properties and chose LINQ. Didn't stay in the room.

I like to pick my dates based on when the most free play is offered to me and I like end of months to beginning of the next month, where I have the best trips. Sometimes I do other dates, but mostly end of month to beginning of next so I can take advantage of free play of current month and free play of the next month. For example, memorial weekend I picked sunday may 30th to tuesday june 2nd. Golden Nugget I had free play that night from gift card or free play option promotion and then mailing offer free play started on june 1st. Circa and D I had free play from May and June I used, same with food credit. 4 queens free play I used both months. Club one (always check black out dates to make sure your free play is good on the dates you go), 4 queens and binions, and golden nugget are the casinos you can use free play at end of month and free play at the beginning of next month. Golden Nugget though, dates vary due to promotions so also have to check when free play starts up for each. It is not always the beginning of the month for mailing offers. Bconnected is a one time, El cortez I believe is a one time (my offers does not say once a month on it, it is quarterly and just says how much free play I have during that time). Plaza and Grand I believe is 3 days in a row or something with free play split up. Uptown though, Cosmo has specific dates where free play is good from this date to that date, not a specific month to month thing and I assume they do their offers based on when you last visit and your play there. Updates 2 weeks after your last play there. Boyd, station, caesars, and mlife are all hotel stay to use free play. For me, I really focus my play on casinos I do not need hotel stay at to use free play so that my next trip I am all set and will have more money to play. I prefer hotel stay at the golden nugget because the rooms (tower closed to the casino) are amazing and also I do not mind bconnected either, when I get offers there. I usually like the california because their beds are nice and they have a fridge. They do not always send offers to me every month though so my 2nd choice ends up being golden nugget.

If you do not have any comp to any hotels though, I would pick one without resort fees.

I would only consider "underbooking" if the room type they were offering was total overkill and/or I wanted a shot at back end. Otherwise I usually take the max room type they offer, it's either a reward for past play or a function of cheap room rates at the time.

There is only 1 game in Vegas and it's called Take Whatever You Can Grab.

Take the best of what a Casino offers you, regardless of your plans to play. They may never offer it to you again, so get it while you can.

The only time i book a cheaper comped room rather the best comped room, is if I perfer something more in the cheaper room. Such as

Mandalay Bay, can get a skyview penthouse or executive king. I took the executive king for the upcoming trip because its a guaranteed strip view. Executive kings all face the strip. Skyview penthouses can be facing the M Resort or allegiant stadium.

Bellagio, sometimes i rather have a regular room fountain view then a salone suite facing the back.

I always book the cheapest rooms (there were exceptions of course) because I don't need better rooms.
