Is that the “put a jacket on one arm so it doesn’t get burned while driving” trick?

 

I drove from SLC to Vegas about 20 times in my life and I don't think there was one trip where I didn't end up stopping in either Fillmore or Beaver.

50 miles to go! I can't imagine what Delano valet will think when Olive comes driving up with pieces dragging the ground.

You need to use Gorilla Tape. It sticks wickedly to anything.

 

Made it... Check in is always a bit stressful with so many of us in tow. We ended up with 17 pieces of luggage on the bellman's cart. (Tipped $20 at the van and $20 when they brought the luggage up.) We hauled some smaller things ourselves, so over 20 things.

V couldn't find his camera bag and was getting pissy with the girls for being disorganized and distracting him at valet. He thought he left the bag on the ground. I told him it was probably in the van. When it didn't show up on the bell cart, he retrieved the van and sure enough it was there. $5 tip to have the van brought around.

Dude needed to calm down, so I prepped room drinks while he went in search of his camera bag.


Some room Gin & Tonics. I miss the pretty glassware from Nomad. Miss the mini fridge too!

When I checked in, there was no record of me calling to have mine and J's reservations connected. Naturally! V and I already had a Delano King Scenic Suite assigned on the 11th floor. J's 2 Bedroom Suite was assigned to the 5th floor, so I asked to be put on her floor. She's about 2 hours behind us driving wise, so she's not here yet.

Having gone from the top of NoMad to the bottom of Delano is cool. V likes lower floors actually for spying. I really didn't care, I just wanted to be on the same floor as J to make hauling the girls' stuff to her room easier. This is the floor with the conference rooms and ballrooms, so there aren't many people on it.

Here are some room pictures. We've stayed in a Delano 2 Queen Suite before, and then difference with the Scenic Suite (besides a king bed) are the windows wrap around the room to give different angles, since you're at the end of the hall. The living room, bathroom, and half bath look the same.

The Cousins are out and about Vegasing in The Park area. Way less crowded and cooler than when V and I were here.

J and her son Ubered to The Sand Dollar Lounge to hear a friend of my brother-in-law's play (he's there too with his girlfriend).

We took the girls for a night walk, then grabbed Gelato at Mandalay Bay and took it back to the room.



V is watching them now, while I do a little slotting.
