    Hello,

We are a couple in our mid fifties but young at heart. We are going to Vegas mid August. We have not been there in quite a while. I got a good midweek deal at Planet Hollywood for 425 including resort fees for 5 nights, so I booked it. I now see Mirage has a deal for $605 including resort fees. Both are for the basic rooms . We do like pools but can make do with the PH pool. Is the Mirage property that much nicer that it warrants the extra $200? Also I have been seeing a lot of bad reviews for PH, I understand it is probably Covid related but Mirage seems to still be getting pretty good reviews. These are the 2 best deals I could find so we are not really considering any other resorts.

I would suggest sticking with PH. The rooms are more spacious and more recently renovated. They also have a mini refrigerator and a much larger bathroom.

If you value pool time, definitely go with the Mirage. The pool is much nicer at the Mirage. The rooms to me are equal quality, but with PH I had a stay in a nice large room, then another stay in a much smaller room close to the elevator. That room sucked due to the elevator noise. It’s an additional $36 a day if my math is correct, so again if pool time is important the Mirage is the way to go.

I guess it would depend on what you will be doing most of the time - where you will be going, playing, eating. That would help us focus - but based on what you have shared, PH will be fine.

I don't really think anyone can aswer th question because we don't know what $200 means to you. For me, it would be worth it because its only forty bus a day and for that money I know I am getting a much better room and pool.

We have the money but are frugal LOL. 40 bucks a night is not a big deal. If Mirage is a much better experience I am good with spending that. That being said If it is an almost equal experience, I would rather spend it on something else like a nice dinner. We like to play slots and BJ low minimum tables, low rollers nothing crazy. Generally cheaper eats most of the time with a couple of nicer dinners thrown in. One of the reasons I picked PH is because the Miracle Mile seems to have some nice cheap eats. PH also seems to be in a slightly better location? Since we haven't been in a long time we will probably be spending a lot of time exploring the casinos, and probably catch a show one night. Lounging around the pool a little during the day.

Stayed both. Mirage much better. Specifically dining options, service, pool (big time), and ease of travel from room to pool to floor.

Miracle Mile does have a lot of much cheaper eats. Nothing cheap inside the Mirage. Cheap eats across the street though. I think PHO has one of the worst pools in Vegas. I only stay at PHO in the winter months when I do stay there. Mirage pool infinitely better than PHO and the standard room is much better than PHO. PHO has some pretty raunchy rooms at the low end. Not so at Mirage. Casino in PHO though is a little more lively.

I might suggest the Mirage for rooms and pool and leave the hotel for cheaper eats.

You get a nice tub in PH rooms. Mid-August, though, will be super-hot at that rooftop pool by early afternoon. Not a problem if you're early pool-goers, but if you like spending the full afternoon poolside then Mirage is the obvious choice.

PH is better located, IMO, if you want to get out and walk around. It's a short walk to two outdoor cafes at Paris including my favorite Mon Ami Gabi, and there's Cosmo and Aria across the street, etc. And if your wife likes shopping, the Miracle Mile has deals you're not going to see at the pricier retail malls like at Caesars.

I think most will agree that Mirage is a more upscale property, but I would probably go with PH for the location and use that extra $200 for a great dinner at the Steakhouse there.

First of all I have to say that I have not stayed at either place (PH is booked for upcoming trip), so I cannot advise you on the rooms. But for me the pros of each location are:

    Mirage
    - Feels more grand, elegant and luxurious
    - Very good location, you can't do everything in 1 day anyway and this is a good spot to start the different day trips from. For example: 1 or 2 MGM days with Bellagio, Aria, Park MGM (with a free tram up and forward between those 3), MGM Grand, NYNY, Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay (with another free tram between the last 3), 1 or 2 CET days with Caesars, Harrah's, LINQ, Flamingo, Cromwell, Bally's, Paris and Planet Hollywood (plus Cosmopolitan can be added here), 1 day in the other direction, with Venetian, Palazzo, TI, Wynn, Encore and Resorts World (Peppermill could be added here for lunch or dinner). PS: Dividing MGM and CET casinos is especially handy if points are important to you, so you can play on one day only MGM and on another day only CET.
    - Great swimming pool
    - Lots of good and affordable food options in the area
    - The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace close by, but many expensive shops

    Planet Hollywood
    - Feels more young, wild and lively
    - Best location on the Strip, you can venture in any direction and have a day trip.
    - Good enough swimming pool
    - Lots of good and affordable food options in the area (Miracle Mile)
    - Miracle Mile shops for affordable shopping (got 2 pair such cute boots there for so cheap, couldn't choose and took both)
    - Cosmo across the street

Stayed at mirage and did a pool day. Pool is very nice. Places to find shade even if you don’t rent chairs (we did around Oasis pool). Room was fine-did the Staywell rooms and no pot smell on the floor (smell is pretty much everywhere in Las Vegas it seems like). We can see the PH pool from our condo (Marriott grand chateau). It’s a rectangle block with no shade around pool unless rent a cabana. No tropical feeling like other pools. Below is close up of what we can see of PH pool. And mirage pool both a quick shot of big pool and the oasis pool.

I have stayed at both. I prefer Mirage, pool is better, in my opinion

IMHO not somewhat better, but exponentially better. The Mirage pool is one of the best. You feel like you are in the tropics. PH pool is like Beverly Hills. The Beverly Hillbillies that is. A cement pond.

As another post said, the mall at PH has many cheap/decent quality eats. Almost like Vegas 25 years ago on an inflation adjusted basis. Ocean One Bar and Grille is a hidden gem for cheap eats.

I have stayed at both and although the PH rooms are bigger, the Mirage overall is in much better condition than PH currently.
This past April PH looked like it hadn't been cleaned in over a year! The carpet in the casino was nasty, were as the Mirage has been always clean and smelling nice.

PH rooms have a walk in shower, Mirage base rooms only have a tub/shower if that matters to you.
PH likes to blast "youngerish" music on the floor and elevators. Especially on weekends. Has a mix of people, but usually extrudes a "youngerish" crowd.
PH is closer to more things, but also tends to have a lot more people pass through and loitering around out front versus Mirage.

If frugal, you might see if Bally's has a better deal in addition to PH.

I really liked staying at the Mirage. Clean property and I prefer the location much more than PHo. There are inexpensive eating options around, including a short walk to Harrah's across the street. To me, the extra money would be worth it.

    This is very important.
If your primary card is CET there isn't much down there. At PH, you have quick and easy access to a number of locations.
Even if your primary card is MLife, you are still stuck with 1 location.

Now, if you don't care about the players club, there is a nice selection of places to play in the Mirage area (Wynn, Plazzo, Venetian,.....) and now Resorts World.
And in this area there are more places to eat with easy quick access.

If Resorts World wasn't opened, I would probably skip the Mirage area all together.

I’ve seen some pretty bad reviews on TripAdvisor on PH recently

if I had a choice I’d go with the mirage

Based on the condition of the casino (it's a dump) I'd be hard pressed to stay in one of the rooms these days.

Yeah that is why I started looking elsewhere, seems like the CET properties are having a harder time with service than the MGM ones.
