I had planned to dine there in June using food credit from a V/P offer but then I cancelled that V/P booking as it was too much running around with three double bookings at the beginning of the trip. I had made reservations a while back as I really wanted to dine at that restaurant.

Yours is the first review I have seen on VMB. Glad to hear the food was good.

Yeah, the Eater review got my attention too. With your confirmation I am booking it for a lunch during my birthday trip.

That blood orange martini looks both beautiful and delicious.

Agree a great value. And it is FOUR items, each day!

Plus the Tower Suites key gets you in the short line at Terrace Point Cafe as well as the short line at the buffet. I also learned last week that if you have a Black or Tower Suites card that you can go into the short buffet line AND be seated without having made a reservation.

Carpaccio is awesome. Since Cipriani was the creator, I expected no less but wow.

Gee, my $1250.00 handpay burning off slot credit at Palazzo doesn't seem all that much compared to @Retrobabble's hit. But I'll take it!

    :p

    Good morning, VMB’ers!

There was a big old thunderstorm last night in the Las Vegas Valley. Plenty of thunder and lightning. It was beautiful. Maybe not so much for the lightning strikes, given the fire danger.

Regretfully, Mr. @ardee will not be joining me for breakfast this morning. He decided he wanted to get out of town now while he was flush with success with his hand pay last night. I probably should do the same but my flight doesn’t leave till tomorrow.

So you’re stuck with me. I’ll try and get a few more facts out there. Mr. Ardee went and got a couple neat pictures of the Rat Pack foot prints over at Palazzo/sounds. Maybe he will post them at some point.

I was going to join him yesterday, but I was dealing with my own hand pay. Not a bad way to go.

    First stop, coffee!

If you want to see the iconic hotel that was here long before the Palazzo/Venetian, the original 1960s version of Ocean’s Eleven gives a sense of the glamour of the time.

I’ve often thought it would be really fun to bring bunch of my friends, and get them to all dressed up in 1950s evening attire, glammed to the max.

Yes, I have a weird idea of fun.

The Copa Room was the supper club of the day. (What goes around, comes around. The emergence of various supper clubs in new Las Vegas doesn’t hurt my grubby little feelings.)

Sinatra, Howard Hughes and various mob members were of course part of the hotel along with the famous Copa Girls.

In other news, this pancake is delicious. Clearly not fitting into a showgirl outfit anytime soon, ha ha. By the way, it’s lovely out here this morning. Perhaps a bit muggy, but this is the first time that Las Vegas heat will be below 110 in a week.

The things I do for you guys! I’m out in the burning sun in sandals that have no business hitting concrete this hot..

Take a closer look at the plaque and the photo with it. Those are the footsteps of the Rat Pack in front of the original 65-foot Sands hotel sign. I needed to have this photo for this trip report. Because reasons. Now I’m going to scoot my glowing* self back to the Wynn and have a martini.

    * from my grandmother: “Animals sweat, men perspire, and women glow. “

To which I’ve always responded, “Well, I’m glowing like a pig.”

She never thought that was funny for some reason.

According to the overlays, the Copa Room was right between the escalators to Tao.

Cabs were super limited most of the time at Virgin but Thursday evening when it was busy it was no problem at all (late June). We used Lyft once and then cabbed it back too.
