I'll be at the Encore on a host comp next week. Every time I've had a host comp there before, it does NOT include the resort fee amenities, so I've always just paid the resort fee to get internet and gym access.

This time I'm getting massages each day which gets me the gym access, so I'm thinking of foregoing the resort fee -- but that would mean getting daily net access a la carte.

I can't find info on the price per day for net access -- just the resort fee.

Does anyone know how much net access is per day? And how many devices can you use on a single day's charge? One device? More than one?

When I was there a couple weeks ago, I believe it was $19.95 for the basic level access. I don't recall how many connections that fee included, as I was only connecting one device anyway. I'm sure an expert can correct me if this is wrong, but I think access is free for devices in the casino. That fee is just to connect in your room

First, do you have a smartphone? Have you considered using your smartphone as a wifi hotspot? That's what I did on my recent trip and it worked for me just fine. I was only using wifi on my laptop for browsing the internet (mostly VMB and checking my tier points). This was a very good do-it-yourself option that I had previously overlooked.

If you buy the wifi access a la carte, there are different options offered. There should be one option around $20 per 24 hours and I think it's 4 devices. It's been a while since I purchased this. Some trips I don't even bother with Wifi at all or don't have my laptop with me.

Yeah -- this was my first inclination. I'm not going to be working, just surfing, maybe doing a few emails, maybe streaming some youtube. But I remember in the past that the signal in the rooms wasn't always good -- I remember having maybe 1 bar... sometimes 0, sometimes 2. But even with 1-2 bars, the data stream was inconsistent.

If it's around $20, that seems reasonable -- it's definitely less than the resort fee. And I can try just using my phone the first day, and then buy internet only if it isn't working well. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a room with good signal. I'll pray to the AT&T gods ::nworthy:

Using your phone is an option, but depending on the carrier, and where you're positioned, the reception could be horrible.

To me, $20 a day is not a huge amount for a "necessary" convenience.

I last stayed in 2018. At that time, waived resort fee, internet fee was per device. As a phone & tablet guy, I chose the resort fee, which covered multiple devices.

    Pricing policy may have changed.

hmmm.. why isn’t the $20/day comped too? Seems like the room is way more costly.

Yeah it's really strange. But on the other hand, all of my comp offers come with resort credit which can be used to cover the cost.

This. I stayed at the Wynn June 2019. Had a high floor. I have TMobile and had 4G.

At the time, I had zero reception in the room with the phone. I had to go to the gaming floor to be able to use Facebook messenger (primary form of communication). Even texting was a struggle.

My recommendation is to go to the room, see if you have good connection, then use your phone as a hotspot.

I have 5G now, so maybe it is different today but can't confirm.

I have a newish phone with 4G LTE and it definitely makes a difference. Had no problems from a room on the 37th floor. And I would expect that higher floors have better reception. The only place I would expect my phone to struggle would be in the elevators.

I have had good luck with phone reception (4G LTE) in the 55th floor of Wynn. I have been able to use my phone as a hotspot for web surfing & email on my laptop but it wasn't nearly good enough to stream video if that's what you want.
BTW - if they don't comp the internet fee, you should still be able to use comp dollars at checkout to cover them.

Thanks for the info, I'll be staying at Encore on a comp offer with no resort fees did not realize that Wi-Fi is not included. Hopefully my old Verizon phone will have good reception.

I seriously wonder the same thing too. I'm comped at the Aria this fall, and the disclosures say that the resort fee is covered. Not so at the Wynncore. But then again, I'm telling myself that if I'm gambling enough to get comped at the Encore, why the hell am I fussing about a $45 resort fee. :goofy:

Thanks everyone else for the info on whether their phone signal works. I don't remember what floors I've stayed on before -- if they were as high as what people here mentioned, but I always had reception issues in the room. Especially in the 'bedroom' area of the suite -- more toward the center of the hotel structure I guess. If I stood right by the window things got better obviously. But I never had luck getting good coverage in the whole room. So, like... surfing in bed would be tricky. And those beds are sooooooooo comfortable, so I plan on spending as much time as possible in them (except when I'm gambling, getting 2 hour massages, laying in the spa for 6 hours, and eating insanely decadent food, that is ).

I've been up and down the strip since Oct about 75% of my time and T mobile 5G is pretty disappointing indoors. I get problems even when there's hardly people on the Strip. I have a Samsung and T-Mobile has their name on the arena! It's something about the materials the buildings are made of. I end up using WiFi for my phone with a VPN for protection.

Yeah... I'm sure that quality construction makes barriers that signal just doesn't get through -- like, heavy concrete versus plywood. They're designed to withstand wind and earthquakes -- which... I'd rather them be that way then engineered to have good cell service inside

Also, it makes for good upsell opportunities for internet. :p

Wynncore does (what I call) the Venetian/Palazzo model of "ala carte" resort options. IMHO, it's better than mLife or CET or downtown, where it's "all or nothing".

Agreed on both counts. On the former, I've never had issues at Aria, but I've definitely heard bad reports out of both Wynn and Cosmo. On the latter, I know it's not the case for everyone, but I definitely consider internet "necessary", both for work and because I'm highly addicted.

I've used my phone as a hotspot in a pinch, but I don't have unlimited data (plus my sister uses up most of our family plan every month anyway). It just seems like a lot for daily internet, but so is $8 for a ginger ale.

I ate at Sinatra’s once and ordered a seltzer to drink. Not, like, Pellegrino or Perrier. Just seltzer from the bar wand. That has literally always been free wherever I’ve had it. I just prefer it to still water… I’m a Sodastream addict, and bars and restaurants always just give it for free since it is just tap water from the bar wand.

It was $8 *per pour.* Like, no free refills on tap water. o_O

Couple that with the food being absolutely mediocre for the price, and I haven’t been back there since.

I used T mobile and 5G and the phone would connect but not the hotspot on phone nor separate hotspot. Had to buy internet from Wynn for laptop. I have never had a location where the hotspot on the phone would not connect to the laptop other than at Wynn and Encore. Hmmmmm???
