Never been to a Golden Corral, but I can sure guess the quality of the food they put out. I would think their selection isn't near as good either, unless they put out more than they show in commercials.

Please do not ever apologize for your posts. There is no need to. Your posts are well thought out and not out of line.

Sometimes the responders are out of line.

It is your opinion and how the changes in Vegas are affecting you. And we all know these changes affect people differently.

Just to add to @topcard"s list above, I believe Circa has at least 4 sit-down eating establishments inside the casino.

I have a friend who visits a certain casino because of their payout schedules on keno. She says when those change, she's done with them. I 100% know she means it. Everyone has their own tipping point. I've whined about Boyd's for years now. It never gets old. :evillaugh:

I have not been post Covid, but it used to be very "OK", particularly for a group who wants simple American/Mexican comfort food. There are three in our area, all apparently hanging in there, and (at least) one now has gone back to self-service.

I would say that the quality of Golden Corral is right around that of the (former) low-end of the Las Vegas buffets, such as Circus, Boardwalk and Imperial Palace.

Unfortunately, Brightside died a slow death many, many months ago (maybe a year?). Too bad. It was one of the great spots at Plaza. Quick, decently priced and friendly staff.

I will miss MSS breakfast buffet. I always enjoy a buffet for breakfast. It's fast and you can always get an omelet the way you like. This has been my go to for almost every breakfast while traveling. As for other meals? I'm not such a fan.

I think someone brought up that they don't understand why there are so many losses. One of the major factors is the amount of "real estate" buffets take up. That footprint is huge and if you're not filling it with guests...well, the losses begin to add up. I do still heartedly believe that buffets DO bring in guests that might not otherwise patronize an establishment. MSS is a prime example. I didn't really go there, but always go to the buffet. Sometimes I will sit and spend some other money whilst there. I will never go there again unless it comes back.

Oh and just a quick note to @mrjames1229 , sir, I don't recall you ever being so short and rude before. Bad day? @tominiowa nothing wrong with your observations. Things have changed loads in DT and most are NOT favorable imo also.

it might not harm me, but it damn sure will harm anyone around me...

if your mom smokes you must know what I'm trying to say..

also know what you mean about catching a rank ashtray smelling smoking room.

last room I was in had a sign w. a $500 penalty for in room smoking clean up charge.

    someone say Southpoint?
Least smokey smoking rooms I've smelt,
    must be the hardwood floors.

I believe back in the olden days, YAH members could get that MSS buffet comp mighty cheap for small play...
    Never experienced it. Probably won't.

I mentioned it in another thread but I believe in the good old days the intention of buffets were to maximize available time on the gaming floor, keeping people on property, and it worked out pretty good for everyone for a while.

Mentioned in another thread and confirmed yesterday when I called to make a reservation- all rooms at the Orleans are now nonsmoking. Not sure about Gold Coast.

I agree, no one used to talk about SP and I loved it that way.

Did I miss something? Last I heard the CEO said they had not decided on MSS buffet. Has there been an announcement?

Not that surprising...I haven't been to either property in a couple of years.

I'm not really getting why a smoker considers NOT having a smoking room to a be a deal-breaker.
Are there any other US cities that do have smoking rooms? At least in Vegas, you can still get one.
I'm just happy to be able to still smoke at the tables.

It's a deal breaker for the most part for me. I simply don't want to have to put a bra on to go smoke. Or sit down at a machine when smoking and losing $100 in the time it takes to smoke a cigarette.

It is also a thing where I enjoy the cigarette after brushing my teeth (I know all non smokers are cringing this)

It is part of my ritual. Get to the room, put on pajamas, wash my face, put on all the products that are supposed to make me appear not 50 years old, brush my teeth, light a cigarette and write notes about my day to later use for a trip report.

Now that the “Boyd people” hate Boyd, the “CET people” hate CET and the “MGM people” who never liked MGM in the first place… it all definitely seems to have made South Point the VMB “property du jour”.

Most of those same posters indicate no hurry to return to Vegas though, so the “secret” should stay under the radar.

Poor South Point! All these "free" advertising, lol!! THE SECRET IS OUT!!!:poke:

Actually South Point to me was always a great place, but maybe with all the nickel and diming going on with the other properties it started to look better and better to the seasoned and savvy Vegas visitors.

All I know is that for a property out in the middle of nowhere straight down from Mandalay Bay there sure is a ton of taxis lined up in front of it, waiting for potential fares to go to and from the property.

It's a valid testament to people noticing this property even more so now since it looks like South Point stayed it's course instead of implementing drastic changes.
