    My Trip Report

Hello VMB, it's been a while!

I'm feeling a little rusty when it comes to doing a trip report, but I'm going to do my best. I've enjoyed going down memory lane when I look at some of my past reports. I will do regular updates, even though we have a pretty low key week planned which may result in the ultimate boring trip report. After some time away from VMB during the Pandemic, I've really enjoyed catching up with all the spring and summer trip reports! Thanks to all of the VMBers who post! :)

My family's last trip to Vegas was Thanksgiving 2019. We had no clue it would be our last for a while. We had an amazing time. I didn't do a trip report then, but here's a peek at what we looked like on Thanksgiving day after walking 3 miles in the rain to our Thanksgiving dinner at Yardbird. We hopped on the High Roller first, and I was not pleased with the washed out look of the souvenir pic, so I got my money back.

    V, E, G, H, S do the High Roller - Thanksgiving 2019.

Fast forward to 2020 and well, it was a long year+ just like it was for so many. We super hunkered down due to helping be caretakers for my 95 year old grandmother. My girls did online school, and we went nowhere except to the grocery store. Of course we had a cruise scheduled for May 2021 that didn't happen, so that was disappointing.

However, 2020 allowed us to regroup and reflect and just slow down a bit. We paid down a decent amount of debt, spent a lot of family time together, and stayed healthy. Thank goodness our youngest, S, turned 12 in May. We took all three girls in for the COVID vaccine the day after, and they were considered fully vaccinated on Father's Day! I am so relieved that our family of 5 never caught COVID and now is vaccinated against it. Life is starting to return to normal for us and a Vegas trip is the cherry on top!

We arrived in Utah on Monday after an almost 600 mile drive from the Denver area in our trusty van, Olive, to visit our in-laws for the first time in two years. The girls were thrilled to reconnect with their cousins Sa and N who will be the cast of characters in our upcoming 5 Year Reunion trip.

Here are my girls G (14), H (13), and S (12) a few weeks ago after getting their pre-trip hair done.

    G,H,S Hair.jpg
H, S, and G sporting some shorter hairdos.

Of course, hair never looks as good as that first day. Here's them on the drive to Utah on Monday.

    Girls Roadtrip.jpg
    G, H, S

For those of you that have followed my past reports, the girls are growing up!

And if you've never read one of my reports and don't know who the heck Vegasworm is, well I'm E (46) and my husband is V (49). We just celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary (28th as a couple) on June 26th, so we're using this trip as an excuse to celebrate.

    E&V Ted's.jpg
E&V celebrating an anniversary lunch at the bar at Ted's Montana Grill back home. Boy it feels weird to go to restaurants again after a year of not doing so!

Here we are wasting time today at Starbucks with the girls, cousins, and my sister-in-law J. We have a lot of laundry and stuff to do before heading out early tomorrow, but we promised the girls.

    Starbucks E&V.jpg
E&V looking tired and the Vegas part of our trip hasn't even started! E got bangs after 30 years without them!

So what are our plans and why "The World Is Yours" title? First the title...I spent a lot of the Pandemic being entertained by a constant rotation of watching "Scarface", "Rambo", and "Sharky's Machine". Like, I watched those movies over and over and over. I love those films!

I was excited to see @EastCoastVegasFan!'s thread on "Scarface" being such a perfect movie! You can check out his thread here: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/why-is-the-movie-scarface-so-perfect.183649/ It totally is no matter those who think it sucks. :p We have watched it so much through the years, that my girls have it memorized. Oh, and they are so embarrassed by their mom's obsession with it.

Since Vegas has decided to de-theme over the years, Vegasworm decided to kick it up a notch and theme on this trip. Here goes! First, for the times I need a mask, this is what I'll be wearing.

    Scarface Mask.jpg
Don't let the creepy Vegasworm closeup scare you, just look at my awesome mask!

I will proudly be wearing my new Scarface T-shirt one day of the trip. It only came in men's sizes, so I'm washing it tonight in the hopes that it shrinks a bit. I love it!

    Scarface T-shirt.jpg
Isn't it beautiful? Brings a tear to my eye.

And check this out...a sign that it was meant to be!!! This was on the entertainment center at my in-laws.

    TonyMontana Figurine.jpg
Who the hell has a Tony Montana figurine (albeit a creepy one with Hulk hands) just laying around?

I'm telling you, the title is meant to be. The World Is Yours! I guess I should say The World Is Mine, because this is my latest attempt to break the curse of not getting a handpay in 25 years of gambling. Will Vegasworm finally achieve this conquest of getting her first handpay? We shall see.....

Okay, enough rambling, I've probably lost half of you already. So, what's on the agenda? Not much by the usual E&V standards. Some pool time, lots of gambling for E, lots of amateur radio time for V, and of course lots of cocktails! Wait until you see our bar setup once we get to the hotel. We decided we would try bringing some drinks from home for some pregaming. Well, that required three separate coolers. :kill:

We're staying at NoMad on an MLIFE comp with 4 nights comped, $50 Freeplay, and $50 FB credit. Total due for 7 nights with tax and resort fee is $479.60. I'm still MLIFE Gold since status didn't change, but I need to rebuild my tier credits.

I made lots of reservations after reading so many reports of long lines and closed restaurants. Here are the places we have reservations for:
    • Bavette's (Dinner)
    • CUT (Dinner)
    • Bardot Brasserie (Brunch)
    • Mastro's Ocean Club (Dinner)
    • Border Grill (Brunch)
    • Carbone (Dinner)
    • Blue Ribbon (Dinner)
    • Javier's (Dinner)
    • Sadelle's (Breakfast)
    • Best Friend (Dinner)
Not doing a lot of off Strip exploring beyond a trip to Frankie's Tiki Room. We also want to check out Resorts World and Sahara and plan to ride the monorail for the first time since 2003.

I plan to play LOTS of slots, a little VP, and no table games. I am bringing my famous finger clickers to help me keep track of my slot playing. Check out some of my earlier trip reports if you don't know what in the heck I'm talking about.

Oh and one new thing for us, we've both lost some weight over the last several months and are accustomed to doing a little exercising each day, so we're going to attempt to visit the hotel gym each day except for departure day. We'll see how that goes!:p:rolleyes:

I need to do a final cash count, but I believe I've got around $3,600 for gambling and tips. I always aim to not lose more than half of what I bring, so I plan to stick with that. I feel so out of practice doing any type of gambling, I hope I'm not gun shy when it comes to playing.

Alright friends old and new, I've got a lot to do to get out of here by 5:30am tomorrow. I'm grateful to my in-laws for keeping the kiddos. Didn't get around to doing Vegas nails, so I'll leave you with a pet pic. Here is our dog O who is back in Colorado with my parents.

    Sad O.jpg
Poor O, she knew something was up when we were packing.

We also left behind 9 parakeets and 1 mouse, but getting pictures of them isn't as easy.

Thanks to those of you who choose to follow along! I fear this may be one of my most boring trip reports, but I will try to keep it real like always.

    Till tomorrow! :headbang:

Stopped in Beaver, UT to gas up Olive and grab a greasy McDonald's breakfast. 225 miles to go. We're running on 3.5 hours sleep, so hope we don't crash and burn when we get there. We have an 8:45pm reservation at Bavette's.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I will work on replies later.

For now, I leave you with a beaver shot. :evillaugh:

Well, we made it to NoMad valet right before 1pm. Checked in and up to our room by 1:15pm. Our math was off, we had 20 bags not 18.

    20210708_125701.jpg
Quite the cart for just two people!

The bellman who helped us unload waited for us to check in and then went with us upstairs and unloaded everything immediately. I was going to tip $20 at the van and then $20 to the person who brought the stuff up, so Jerry got a $40 tip. He brought us water while we waited to check in, and when he noticed our multiple coolers, he said he would ring for a complimentary fridge. Nice!

One of the two safes was locked, so I called the desk and security has already opened it. The fridge hasn't come yet, but we were told we didn't have to wait for it, just don't have our Do Not Disturb on and they'll put it in the room. We haven't had a snafu yet, so we'll see if the fridge actually arrives. LOL

    I'll post room pics next!
