As many others have indicated, I liked buffets for the variety they offer; plus, they're a good source of fresh fruit, which many restaurants seem to charge an arm and a leg for. Sadly, I gave them up because I didn't feel like I could get my money's worth without over-stuffing myself. Walking around the Strip after having gorged was not comfortable. I did, from time to time, do the breakfast buffet at Grand Lux given how good of a value it was. The included coffee and fresh squeezed OJ, alone, made it worth it.

Definitely want to see buffets return. Big fan of breakfast buffets. Just about every morning of a Vegas trip started there.
Unlike many here, I'm not a foodie. I'm not interested in the higher end buffets with names of food that I can't pronounce. I am plain and simple when it comes to food....yeah I know many would find that boring but that's me. That's why I'm mad at Stations and want their buffets to return as they served "comfort" and regular everyday food that I Like. I will add though that I have come to enjoy the Wicked Spoon at Cosmo. Had a great omelet station and often had some kind of salmon that was delish. Don't know how they are now as last trip we were there on buffet dark days.
Other reasons to like are food is ready so no endless waiting, variety (to a point), eat a plate or two and then off to the day's events.

-There is something comforting about having an unlimited supply of food at one's disposal.
-I rather serve myself than be served.
-A buffet offers the opportunity to doctor food items or mix and match.
-Better option than overpriced sit-down breakfasts.
-Being on your own timetable for getting in and out.
    -Prime rib.

We do comped buffets once or twice a trip: Not sure I would pay for a buffet.
Breakfast or brunch only. (the times I tried dinner were disappointing, so no more)
I like the variety and ability to control portions if I just want to sample something.
I especially like watching my eggs being cooked to order exactly like I want them and served piping hot.
I cannot resist a macaroon or two or three. :goofy:

I see people say this a lot but I am always seeing scrambled eggs sitting in a vat of raw eggs. I took this at Bellagio.

I like the variety of food. I like to choose what I want to eat. I will go to a high end buffet or one of the off strip buffets. We just enjoy them. I hope they never go away.

Two years ago, I visited Green Valley Ranch, Sunset Station and Boulder Station on consecutive days. I ate at the breakfast buffet each time then spent 2-3 hours playing video poker and lost money at each place. Without the buffets I would not have visited any of those places as the buffet price is what got me in the door in the first place. Now I won't be going to a single one of those three properties on my next trip, something the idiots at Stations don't seem to understand.

Actually, I do like scrambled eggs on the soft side, but that's ridiculous!

My guess is that what you pictured above is the result of employees being time-pressured and not being given enough time to pay attention to detail and do things right. I would think or at least hope that at Bellagio they would care enough to do a decent job!

I like to eat at the high end buffets (Wynn or Bacchanal) for:

    1. Variety
    2. Quality
    3. Ambiance
    4. Service

That was some kind of messed up "yellow stuff"... I sense when people (myself included) say it's hard to mess up eggs, most are referring to eggs prepared at a buffet's live cooking station...I've yet to have messed up eggs over easy...and if they were messed up, at least it'd be freshly made,,,,

I'm a breakfast buffet eater. There really is nothing better in this life than getting up early in Las Vegas and going down to the Race Book, procuring the Daily Racing Form (the Bible for us punters), and then heading to the buffet line. What awaits me is at least a solid half-hour of food and handicapping (at my age these are really all I look forward too). I particularly love a good omelette bar and fresh waffles. I am left undisturbed to read my form while I only need to interact with the waiter/bus person who brings my coffee or tea and then scurries away leaving me to my studies. Combined, the smell of the buffet food and the anticipation of spending the day playing the horses is priceless.

    Bring back the buffets!

What racebook do you like the most in Vegas? I've only played at Mirage(very generous with drink tix with horse bets), and have passed by Wynn's which is impressive.

I've had several favorites. For probably 20 years it was the Imperial Palace—the buffet (no wisecracks, please) and race book were on the same floor. The Mirage also got a lot of my business—buffet and race book not too far apart. I've also enjoyed the Gold Coast buffet and race book. Lately, I've upgraded to the Wynn and I can't wait for their buffet to reopen. This next trip is at the Bellagio so I'm happy their buffet will be open when I get there—opens July 16 according their website. But any hotel/casino which has a buffet and race book has probably seen my business over the years.

Yes, betting on horses is a very easy way to get drunk. I rarely ever use all of the acquired drink tickets on a given day.

Well this is a perfect post for me as well. I love doing solo breakfast buffets just to get the day going, and grabbing the DRF and the sports sheets to do your early handicapping is exactly often my day opener as well.

One of my favs now gone was the Flamingo. Bright airy room overlooking the palm trees and wildlife, and the old race book would always give you a free DRF as long as you "promised to come back and play" or just with your players card. That morning buffet was nothing special, but always had good bagels and lox and as much bacon and sausage as you'd like.

I almost always stick to breakfast/brunch, expect for the rare high-end buffet for dinner....but that was always pretty rare.

if i get free buffet tickets to the better than the others , we will take it.
it narrows down the couples dillema of.. "what do you want to eat? over and over.
we both go in.. we split up grab our plates and eat what we like.

instead of standing around and saying IF we walk down to so and so .. so an so aint that far and you can grab your food first then we
stand in line at this place and then we eat 30 minutes later.

Vegas staple but it also fits my needs. I can go to South Point buffet for a five dollar breakfast with coupon. Great deal when you figure they use fresh blueberries. A few years ago I was with a group of eight and we couldn't decide where to go. Some folks are picky, some have weird diets and Wynn buffet delivered something for each of us.

    Long live Vegas buffets!
