Hoping some of the Atlantic City folk can give me a clearer picture on this.

I was auto matched after the sale finished to a Ballys Corp account and given Black Status for my Diamond Plus which is great. Black status gets the Diamond plus treatment equivalent which is nice.

As we contemplate leaving CET entirely I will be reducing my Diamond plus to Diamond (likely finishing that up on our upcoming trip) unless we get a TC multiplier at some point, and as such would like to try to build status somewhere else.

At 10,000 TC Black is an attainable level for me if the TC earn rate is somewhat reasonable, so I was wondering if anyone who has been there knows what the earn rate is?

IIRC, it was the same $10:1 rate on vp as CET.

That would be nice. Diamond plus benefits for far less earn than diamond plus. Especially if that applies to all the properties, including their soon to be las vegas strip property.

Bally's recently opened up Jerry Longo's Meatballs and Martini's . Just what AC needs, another red sauce Italian joint. I also read that the Pizza place closed and Sack O" Subs will close as well.

I'm still chuffed that they don't comp drinks at the Lobby Bar unless you're Black card or above. And I'm not.

I don't think that word means what you think it means. Chuffed means happy or pleased.

Do you have a tier match? In all fairness that was the case when it was a CET property too so I think that just continued. I feel like I remember a time when it was 7* only for comps. I'm surprised the food court things are closing, but maybe we'll get lucky and the replacements will accept their comp dollars at 1:1. I'm interested to see what water dog is all about as I like dogs and beer so it can't be bad. I'm a little surprised they kept Guy Fieri's place given his CET relationship, but if you ditch a red sauce joint (Bucca) then you must replace with a red sauce joint... that's just the rules of new jersey and Pennsylvania lol.

I think the word you wanted was chafed... which I agree with you completely on. It chafes me too :haha: that they don't comp drinks while playing for all, especially since there is no bar now in Ballys that does.

Yea, yea, that's the ticket.....I was chafed, not chuffed. :evillaugh: I probably mis-understood the meaning watching a Guy Ritchie movie.

I did a tier match, but I'm just lowly Platinum, so I think my Bally's card is also Platinum, one step above the Bronze.

As for Water Dog Smoke House, I think that will go into the spot where Walt's Primo Pizza was. But this place started out a couple years ago in the adjacent town of Ventnor, about 3 miles south of Bally's. Water Dog features in house smoked meats, brisket, pastrami, turkey, bacon, smoked salmon. They have one of the best Lobster Rolls on the island. Also, a good poke bowl. Here is a Menu from the Ventnor store, I would imagine it will be less extensive for Bally's. They do sell hot dogs, but they are deep fried; no, not a Newark Italian hot dog.

@hammie as always when we talk about AC you come through with new information or a potential new experience for me. I just texted my wife that menu and said we will be stopping here on our way into town and on our way out of town. We are staying at trop this trip and since my truck is too big for the parking garage I get super special valet parking (they just leave it out lol) so there may even be another trip there if it's that good. Our bagels here suck compared to new york and I love smoking meat and trying anything smoked.

There are a ton of good local eats on Absecon Island, home to AC, Ventnor, Margate, and Longport. Water Dog Smokehouse started in January, 2020 right before Covid and they have done pretty well. Not far away is Downbeach Deli in Margate, I think it’s about the only real Jewish deli on the island.

I’ve probably mentioned Cafe 2825 before, this place can be a tough reservation though. I don’t generate a lot of comp $$, and many casino restaurants post Covid can get booked up, so I look for local places. I recently got my dive bar fix at Pic-A-Lilli and had some decent wings, tenders with some beer. Oh, and I was able to get the wave going for Sweet Caroline. Pretty easy to do at the Shore.

@hammie for sure, cafe2825 is on our list to go to. Probably on our october trip because one of the people on our currently planned trip doesn't do cheese... We have enjoyed Pic-A-Lilli in the past as well. We usually have everything comped with CET and I have been saying to my wife that I miss getting to the local joints. Last summer we used it the terrible outdoor dining options to get to Dock's twice, and we have also loved the irish pub and chef vola's. Now our typical non CET go to has been Amada, which is awesome, but our October trip will be time for a change from that.

This july trip between the 4 of us going we have about 350 dollars in food credits available per day, so we will probably mostly stick to CET places, but I usually do breakfast on my own, so I may try Downbeach Deli one morning as well.

You could drive and park on the street near Downbeach Deli, get a bagel and schmear, rent a bike and ride it a couple blocks on the street until the boardwalk starts at Martindale Ave.

But you’ll have no problems using up the food credits, for breakfast there is Gilchrest’s and also Casa Taco. Also, Il Verdi just reopened at Trop.

For something kind of fun with a group, check out Bar 32 on Tennessee Ave, they make their own chocolate. We went to Tenn Ave Beer Hall for dinner a couple weeks ago, and they had a promo for a free chocolate tasting at Bar 32 (same owner). We each ordered a glass of Cabernet and had it with the chocolate, pretty awesome.

You're the 3rd or 4th person to mention gilchrest so that will be on the list. And we will for sure be going to casa taco, but for tacos because 3 of us are taco lovers. We were thinking of using 2 Diamond Dinners at Il Verdi since we have 5 between the four of us, but decided to do Chelsea 5 instead. We were there in February and it was great.

Water Dog will be in the spot formerly occupied by Bucca Di Beppo. That’s a pretty big space,

Water Dog Smokehouse finally opened at Bally's a couple weeks ago. Looks like they have happy hour 4-6 pm and live music on Fridays and Saturdays

The new restaurant is good, they have some nice poke bowls for people who are into that (crab, shrimp, eel or raw fish + avocado, watermelon radish, edamame, cucumber, pickled ginger, scallion, crispy shallots, kimchi, seaweed salad, corn and rice). The lobster roll was really good as well. The ahi tuna tacos were a bit boring. My wife had the eggplant and said it was good as well.

The prices are pretty high (I can get a great poke bowl in NYC for $15, theirs are $24-28), but since I get an $100 bimonthly food comp that's not a dealbreaker for me.

Harry’s Oyster Bar at Bally’s is closing on September 26. Article in Press of Atlantic City.

“We’re sad to announce that we’ve come to the end of our lease, and Harry’s Oyster Bar will be closed after September 26, 2021,” according to a Facebook post.

We had dinner at Harry’s recently, there was a live band in the courtyard and the weather was perfect.

I think they could use a Sports Bar, but maybe that would be competition for the Fan Duel sports book.

I'm not really surprised by this, I think the true writing on the wall was with the opening of Dougherty's (same ownership group as dock's and knife and fork)
I have to believe they will make good use of this space, especially since they are doing an excellent job with bringing back restaurants. I'm also wondering if the added restaurants in Ballys were beginning to cut into their bottom line. I can remember a time when there was just 3 places to sit and eat in Ballys and now with Harrys there are essentially 7. Though, Harry's was the only one that was primarily seafood

For the next two Friday's, Jerry Blavat will be at Bally's Beach Bar for happy hours. This guy is a Philly Legend, he is 81 years old, and is a walking encyclopedia of music. He has his own club, Memories in Margate (NJ) a couple towns over from AC.

The breakfast / lunch place. Water dogs. Doesn't take the food vouchers. So I didn't find a good place to use that for lunch. I ate at the water dogs bar and at least 3 people in that time came up to the bar trying to use the voucher.
