Hey VMB! I need help picking out a hotel for my upcoming trip in August. We've got 10-12 people meeting up for a birthday, and trying to find a place that will satisfy a lot of people without breaking the bank. I've got it narrowed down to MGM, Park MGM, Aria, or Mirage. I never established myself with Caesars properties, unfortunately.

Aside from price, my biggest concerns are proximity to low stakes gambling*, and a good pool. I'd love to have a $10 6:5 blackjack or free bet blackjack table either on-site or a quick walk away. Mirage was our first choice because of the tram to TI, but their prices skyrocketed for the days we are there, so they are likely out.

I have a great MLife offer from Aria, but it's expensive for the others who are paying the regular rate. So we're probably down to MGM Grand and Park MGM. I'm leaning towards Park because of how isolated MGM Grand feels from the rest of the strip. But I'm open to suggestions. Thoughts???

*excluding Excalibur. Not a fan. What can I say?

Not a pool guy but I think majority of answers are going to say MGM.

Think of Luxor, as well. Depends on when you're going, but they usually have $10 6:5 and a solid pool area.

For the days we are there, yes. We looked a few weeks ago and with my low-level MLife they were cheap/comped on those days. Checked again Friday night and they were hundreds of dollars...

MGM is your best bet. They have a nice pool, and probably the most affordable of your choices. You have a few casinos within walking distance, like the Trop, Excalibur, NYNY, Luxor, Park MGM.

If you want quick access to low table stakes, MGM is def. the choice. OYO is right across the street!

MGM is really not isolated plus there are way more drinking and dining choices there..

Also, currently, Park MGM is a smoke-free property. So if you have people in your entourage that are smokers or has an aversion to smoke, then that may or may not rule out Park. Although I don't know how long they are going to keep the property smoke-free.

I agree, Grand has more venues for eating/drinking (also close to Top Golf). But IMHO, Park's venues are more interesting...

I’m not a huge MGM fan (prefer mid-strip and the sprawling layout is not to my liking), but for your purposes I would say MGM this time. The rooms are well-appointed (don’t choose the West Wing if you can avoid it), the pool is great, and there are a lot of food choices from $-$$$$. As others have said you also have access to casinos with lower limits.

I also agree with a poster above who said to consider Luxor. I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed there.

Assuming the price is similar, definitely Aria. It's an easy walk to Park MGM, NYNY and most of the other properties mentioned above and the rooms are on a much higher level.

After, um... consulting with my wife, I think we're heavily leaning towards MGM Grand. But when I go to book, I don't see anything about a west wing option. Is that something that I'd need to request at check-in? Hoping to avoid as much of the sprawl as possible.

Also, the Stay Well rooms are nearly the same price. Are they worth it? And does one offer more likelihood of a strip view than the other? I'm surprised that MGM doesn't have a strip-facing option for normal rooms.

You should avoid the West Wing rooms.
They are tiny. Look for Grand Tower.

Stay Well rooms are ok nothing that special, but the one big plus is if you're staying in one you can use the Gold/Stay Well check in lounge which can save tons of time checking in.

Is Stay Well more or less likely to get upgraded at check-in? Would love to get a strip view or something but don't want the Stay Well to get in the way of that.

I vote MGM Grand as that is where I usually stay as it fits my needs and I get good M-Life offers there. I'm only staying at Aria on this years trip because they offered more comp days when I'm going and it was within my typical hotel budget. The prices skyrocketed on Aria though right after I booked a few months back.

MGM is easy to navigate once you go around it a couple times and you can easily access the other side of the strip via the walkway to NYNY or you can take the Monorail all the way to Sahara if you are so inclined.

MGM has one of the best pool areas and the rooms in the Grand Tower are pretty nice. I did the $20 trick last time and was upgraded to a Stay Well room which was nice but didn't add much. You also have a lot of great food/beverage options at MGM. I can't speak to gambling as I really only play video poker for the most part.

However, Park MGM is a very good budget option though I only stayed there when it was Monte Carlo. Still I'd stay there before I stayed at something comparable in price.
