Main street or Ogden entrance is so much easier.

I'm assuming this is to discourage certain individuals from trying to enter, but I have not figured out exactly who.

If the sportsbook is the destination, main entrance on Ogden is the easiest…..once inside veer to the right a bit and pass about 10 machines and you’ll see the big screen on your right and you’re there. And easy exit.

I thought I read when they first opened up, that not all of the rooms were 100% complete. I could be making that up though ‍

I believe the casino may have opened while they were still finishing the rooms.

The entire city is built on irrational behavior. Like if you had to define irrational behavior mathematically, 99.9% of casino gaming would fall under that umbrella from a purely objective standpoint. Let's not pretend any of us are above it here. :goofy: :D

I think it's great though. People paying out the nose to stay and play at Circa for some period of time is critical to justify the investment in the first place. If we want to continue to see new and shiny things go up in Vegas, we will need well heeled early adopters to finance it.

Almost all of the "classic resorts", including the ones now long gone, were at one point new, shiny, and catering to the higher end before they moved down market as they aged. One day Circa will be 40 years old and trying to keep the doors open with low limits and 2 for 1 hot dogs and the gamblers of that time will be able to look back with nostalgia for the days when downtown high rollers laid out the funds necessary on the felt to pay the note on such a classic structure.

It's interesting to me that you've only (at least I'm reading it this way) had the opportunity to get those "memorable" comps from DT. I've, strangely enough, gotten similar - sports tickets for hubs - expensive dinners etc., spa et al. AND a nice suite (think wrap-around at Cosmo) from Strip properties. Now to be fair, Plaza has offered numerous times for GK tix, but trips never lined up right (my fault and then pandemic) and there's really no "expensive" eats downtown; At least not on par with the Strip.

The D and DTG have also offered sporting stuff, but alas I am NOT a sports enthusiast and hubs is a fair-weathered one. I suppose if I could find something new/different to get comped I'd consider a move back. When I come back to town I will be most likely be off-strip this chapter in my Vegas life. I'm also not as concerned about the comps as I once was. Maybe because I missed Vegas less than I would've thought. I miss just ordinary, regular life far more!

Circa is truly a diamond in a sea of waning cubic zirconia. And it will also lose its luster eventually. I don't like Steven's gamble at this point, so I don't see myself as the Circa "customer." He has changed the face of DT and now that he has, I'm not entirely sure that I like it.

It's a matter of what I value. What I value I received more of DT. Basically becuase to just make the nut is a higher threshold on the strip due to room cost. I don't care about rooms, so downtown, becuase the room cost (and most other costs) are lower, I prearranged other comps more important to me. You mentioned expensive eats downtown. When I played larger, and more frequently at Golden Nugget, I stayed in a Rush Tower standard room, but had Vic and Anthony's order Kobe steak. They comped that to me for between $25 to $30 an oz. That price is under market for Las Vegas, and certainly for the strip, but Kobe beef is an "expensive eat" anywhere. This is one example of how I worked it. They would routinely reimburse my Allegiant flight cost. Cheap flight, but I'd never get that on the strip. They'd also comp me meals at strip properties. They had more room to do this sort of thing, based on my play (at that time), becuase the room comp was hardly worth more than $100.00. And there is really nothing else they could comp that I'd be interested in. None of the bigger, sold out boxing events were downtown. I went to almost all of these I had an interest in.

I don't know that I never got things like this comped on the strip, but never for the same amount of money gambled. So I either gambled more, or got less. Richard Wilk hosted me at Paris. FWIW, I hated Paris. He (we) had nice things prearranged, but the play level was much higher, consequently not a good value to me. Starting with the nicer room at Paris, which isn't (to me) worth their comp value for it.

I use the word past. My host was the national marketing host at GN. Top guy according to LinkedIn. He's retired. I don't play as big. Not even close. I don't go as often. Last time I went, I stayed at Palace Station, and I enjoyed it. Like you, Las Vegas holds less interest for me. It wasn't really the pandemic. I actually enjoyed less people and a quieter crowd. I started staying in Florida longer in the winter. In the fall I travel to college football games, and in the spring and summer, I golf and fish. Las Vegas is now an every once in a while weekend. And I don't see this changing. In general, I've grown away from spending money gambling. I'm not old, but I'm not young either. I had more fun when I had less money. And comps heave never been important to me. When I played larger, I just made sure I got some value (to me) back from my play. I've never posted on here about being over or under comped. I wouldn't know if I was, and don't care to know. When I arranged the comps, I did that upfront.

So we aren't that far apart. I have experience at Steven's properties, and a relationship outside of gambling as I've posted (hinted) about on here before. I don't know that Circa could give me anything other than a room, and some meals, so I'm not sure this changes anything for me. I don't view anything they could offer as something I value. But I'd go back. Maybe. But I'm not going back to Las Vegas until the economy corrects some excesses.

FWIW, I do the same prearranging at Palace Station, where I also have a relationship outside of gambling. On a much smaller scale.

Based on some of your posts, I'd really encourage you to give Palace Station a try. Maybe reach out to @Flowers and see if she might give you some additional input. She seems to be a very helpful young lady. Do what makes you happy. If that's charging, then change what makes you happy.

I already have a ressie for November, but it is doubtful that I will keep it. PS is one of two I am thinking of when or even IF I return. Great minds think alike!

And yes, FWIW, it sounds like we are nearly parallel in our thinking and action.

I couldn't agree with you more.

While I appreciate Stevens commitment to downtown, I don't particularly like what he has done with The D (even though it's an improvement over Fitzgerald's). And I hate what was he has done with Golden Gate.

I haven't seen Circa yet, so can't comment. But I've seen enough of Stadium Swim through pics and vids to know it's my nightmare version of a pool area.

No reason for a higher level player in step foot into The D or Golden Gate.. Circa checks all the boxes.. Unless I’m playing the sigma derby I know I won’t..
