I’m in a base room on a comp over NYE. Wed-Sun.

$50 trick should get me the resort tower wouldn’t you think? Any chance at a Mirage Suite?

Over New Years? Thats a stretch. Hotels are typically at capacity around that time and free upgrades are very limited.

Unless you have a host, no on a suite.
A tower king on some other date is doable, but not a NYE stay. (Imo)

Please update us if you are successful, that would be a win!
Best of luck, it never hurts to try.

Just an update here. I called Mirage to see what the cost would be to upgrade to a tower king. They actually upgraded me for free and reduced my rate on the one night I was paying by $30 (NYE)

I’m planning to try for $100 trick at check in for a one bedroom tower suite. Not expecting anything, but worth a shot. It seems they are available currently at about $100 extra/night.

it was odd this year, the last two years staying in november, using myvegas comp, i has stated that i probally got a crappy room using the myvegas and have asked about cheep upgrades. I have always been offered a tower room and as i reached in my pocked for some money, was told i could have a suit for $50. The one that are basically two rooms with the wall between them gone and two bathrooms. This year, getting a comp from total rewards, I was never offered a suite. O well, got to watch the volcano a few times and the tower rooms were much updated then the suites were.

Going with my fiancé in May and have already gotten a Resort Tower King for 7 nights. Should I try the $20 and see if I get something better like with a Strip View? Do you think it would help? I'm a Pearl with a MLife Mastercard, but don't know if that matters.

    Mahalo!

We just left and did the $20 trick and got upgraded from Regular King to Resort Tower King...I told them upon check in I was interested in a Resort Tower King upgrade on the 24th or 25th floor with a view of the pool and or south strip. We got it and we were there 6 nights and we had an amazing view of the pool and strip! Since u already have Resort Tower King I don't not know if they are all on those 2 floors or not but I would call and find out bc if so no sense trying for that... u could try for a suite I think that or a stay well would be the next step up

Checked in 4/18, a Sunday. I had a 4th floor, roof view room. I asked for a better room, and the said for $25 more per night, they could do something. I slid a $20 across the counter, and they found a complimentary upgrade to a 19th floor volcano view. Boom!

Great job. I'll try the $20 trick if I'm in a similar situation.

I checked in on Saturday and got nothing with my $20. I asked politely, as well. However, they did accommodate placing us on the same floor as some friends.

It's tough to get the upgrade with the $20 on a weekend. I would think it only works (if it does) on Sunday-Thursdays. Actually, I'm going on a 3-night comp June 21 Monday for 3 nights (I haven't been back to Mirage for at least 10 years.) & I may try it.

Stayed back in late-April on a Sun-Friday trip. Had booked two basic resort queen rooms and did the $20 trick upon checking in. Got both rooms upgraded! One to a beautiful volcano/strip view and mine to a pleasant pool/strip view! I'd say it was a solid success.

Is it even worth a $20 try when i check in or is this the best i could expect from a RTK?

Probably in this order and much more difficult as you move up:
    Mirage Suite
    Resort Tower Volcano View
    Hospitality Suite
    Tower Suite
    Penthouse

    Thanks.
Would love to get a upgrade to the Mirage Suite from my RTK for $20. Staying 12/5-12-9, SUN-THU.
    What are the odds?

That's during the rodeo and Mirage is always full of cowboys. Maybe a 5-10% chance.
