I went to the website and made a new reservation one way. I opened my account and canceled one way and then went and booked it. Was worried it would be gone or something if I’d Just cancelled and tried to make a new one.

I completed the new reservation and the points were instantly available from the cancellation.
I then repeated on the return flight. Set up new flight on line and then cancelled old one in my account completing new reservation next.
Felt more safe that way. Saved 20,000 pets with same direct flights.

Did the traffic from the sale crash their system?

Thanks just booked a trip in Oct for $172 round trip. Only downside is the weird times for the non stop flights.

    NOTE:
You MUST cancel the old before the end of the day. SWA does a sweep at night and if you have 2 similar reservations that you physically can not take, they will cancel one of them. But, you should still book the new one first (assuming you have enough miles), and then cancel the first one.

As to their breakdown on Thursday - the sale did not officially start until last night, well after their system crash. Some pricing was showing up earlier in the evening though.

I booked my flights with SWA but unlike Alaska, does SWA have seat selections with cheap fares?

I didn't have enough points to book first and then cancel. Had no problem cancelling the flight and rebooking points were available immediately. Sad that they didn't start the sale for 9/12 on my flight out.

I was excited when I saw this, but then found out it's not good for August. Guess I will have to make a trip in Sept or Oct!

Makes sense, just after the peak summer travel when fares tend to drop some.
Wished they had pushed it a bit more into November. :)

I was lucky to find a week between deer and elk hunting. I asked when I could go and he said, well, you know...that is hunting season. So I said....JUST TELL ME A WEEK! I got October 18th.

@nostresshere thanks for the heads up. I had not made flight plans yet during Sept -Nov time frame of the sale as I don't know what offers I will get then. But I did a bunch of reservations with my points on several weekends in the expectation that one or more weekends will land on times I do want to go. Once again, a big reason to be thankful for the VMB.

Ugh, it's hard to book a flight without knowing what my Cosmo offers will be in Sept or Oct. I may just have to pick a good fare and see what comes up!

Thanks, saved 22,000 points by rebooking 2 tickets. With the 2 companion passes, 4 of us are going RT SLC-Houston for 32K points + $45 in taxes for (hopefully) a cruise in October. Quite a savings to the consumer.

But the good news.... if you have to change dates, no charge. Pick the best guess and go with it. We often have multiple dates booked and then work it out. Only SWA works with us.

I expect more out of you o_O

Book multiple trips... the flights are really cheap, so pick four weekends. You go to Vegas enough anyway, so once you finalize a weekend you'll have funds to use for future trips.

I got the email for this sale this morning but it ends right before my trip in November. Dammit.
