Since my Bruins are out (don't want to talk about it), at least I have another team to root for.

watched the game last night, it was exciting, and I thought Colorado played better most of the game. VGK just made what they could of their fewer chances

Vegas is a HUGE favorite in the next series. I was reading this morning that the current odds equate to about an 85% chance that Vegas wins which is INSANE in the NHL. With parity in the league, no team should even have odds that give them more than a 60% chance to win a series. The payout for taking MTL in the series would be too great to pass up if I was going to bet.

I thought Montreal looked good in their prior series - weird to have such high odds on VGK advancing

LV opened at -300 for the first game here in town...that is way out of whack. No regular season games between the two to take a look at. As a LV fan, would have much rather played Toronto just as, if we make it to the next round, would rather play TB rather than teams that were not great during the regular season, but have peaked and in each case, has something huge to play for (Montreal for an entire country and the NYI for the last games in the arena).
I have some on LV for the Cup, but will probably increase that wager rather than a series wager on them vs Montreal.

    VGK are that much better.

MC are playing way above their heads. An inexplicable magic happens once every 10 years in Montreal . Price is playing well.

I honestly would avoid betting this series. Anything could happen….

For people more knowledgable about sports betting: does the fact that sports betting is still somewhat "centered" in Vegas impact the initial odds for VGK in a game/series (anticipating that a lot of local money will come in on them)?

The LVGK influence could definitely impact LV. All of the lines on LA teams are inflated here because we get so many visitors from Los Angeles. The thing I don't know, for instance, is if William Hill posts LVGK -300 for game one, if that is what they have at all WH outlets across the country. If no one answers here, I could find out as it is an interesting question.
There used to be a lot more line variance in LV, but now, due to sportsbook consolidation, there are far, far fewer line shopping opportunities.

Yes, the lines for Vegas are always going to be a bit more inflated locally, as just about everyone is holding a VGK ticket. Unless you're a line shopper or a pro gambler, you probably don't care if you have to pay an extra $20 vs. what you would pay at an online sports book.

The wounds are still too fresh, much like Tuukka's apparently.

Two LVK home games this week and I will be there for Wednesday’s match but not in person. Growing up as a kid the NHL was synonymous with cold weather cities. Something seems a bit off when the LVK face off in 115 degree temperatures. I seem to recall one year they had trouble keeping the ice cold enough. Slush bowl.

    Go Knights!

Slush bowl means pound the under, somehow the game managed to stay under 5.5 tonight even with MTL pulling the goalie with like 4:30 left in the game. Talk about a sweat lol.

I was watching the beginning on the big screen outside T-mobile for 30 seconds and had enough of the 108 degree weather even with the shade. Ended up watching from my Park MGM room with my Lemongrass (Thai food from Aria) takeout. Great game. I’m from L.A. but not really a hockey person but it’s so cool to be here with the vibe.

Well, the last 5 minutes of this game just got a whole lot more interesting.

VGK seems to be getting payback in heartbreak for that first year run to the Cup Finals. First the dubious five-minute major and the blown three-goal lead in the 3rd period of Game 7 vs SJS in 2019, and tonight's fiasco where Fluery kicks the puck to the front of the net with 2 minutes left. They can still recover in this series (and I think are still favored to beat Montreal even down 2-1), but stuff like this is why being a sports fan is REALLY tough.

Winning in the playoffs involves such fine margins. You can play a clean game and make one small mistake and pay for it.
