I love craps but one of the things that always makes me hesitant to play is that I get it mixed up how much you should bet for payouts that won't make it difficult for the dealer. Can someone explain for all the different bets?

Pass Line - Does not matter, correct?
Pass line with odds - When do you typically place this bet?
6-8 - On a $10 minimum bet, what would be the amount you bet here minimum? $12?
5-9 - On a $10 minimum bet, what would be the minimum bet you want to do here?
    4-10 - Same as above
Hard ways - This stays out there for the duration of the point, correct?

6-8, bet in multiples of 6. So, yes, bet $12
5-9, bet in mulitples of 5, $10 min
4-10, bet in multiples of 5, $10 min

hardways stay out until either a 7 is rolled, or your hardway # hits a soft version of that #

$30 pass line odds will always be correct for any point on a $10 pass line bet...placed after the come out roll behind the line of your pass line bet.
    place bets as mentioned above
Hard-ways stay till you take them down (not a contract bet) or until that number is thrown either hard or not or a 7 is thrown. Will remain active between resolved points.

if the point is 5 or 9 don't place odds in an (odd) amount. as it pays 3/2. If you had a $15 odds bet you should get paid: $22.50 but they don't have 50 cent pieces. so you would just get $22.

Hardways: You may get asked if you want it on/off during the come out roll after a point is made.

I am still learning myself. So if I am wrong someone please correct me

Pass Line Odds or Come Bet Odds

If the point is 4 or 10; pay out 2:1; Bet multiples of $5
If the point is 5 or 9; pay out 3:2; Bet multiples of $6
If the point is 6 or 8; pay out 6:5; Bet multiples of $5
If it ends in E then you need Even Odds (FivE and NinE)

    PLACE BETS

Numbers 4 or 10 pays 9:5, so bet in multiples of $5
Numbers 5 or 9 pays 7:5, so bet in multiples of $5
Numbers 6 or 8 pays 7:6, so bet in multiples of $6

Odds on the 5 or 9 just need to be an even #, you could do multiples of $6 but the dealer would probably not like you, at it is not common. Just bet $10,$20,$30,$40) ect.

Edit:, but yes, if you ware trying to conserve chips, and just want to go over $15, you could put $16 odds on.

I teach people, "Five, Even, Any" as an easy way to remember what pass line odds to bet.
It means start in the middle with the 6 & 8 = bet multiples of five.
Start moving outward both ways, 5 & 9 = bet an even amount
Keep moving out to the ends, 4 & 10 = bet any amount

3X / 4X / 5X is an easy strategy to know payouts (assuming your bankroll an afford it.)

    $10 pass line bet.

On a 4/10 point, put $30 odds (3X your pass line bet)
    On a 5/9 point, put $40 odds (4X)
    On a 6/8 point, put $50 odds (5X)

In all cases, your payout is $10 on the line and $60 for the odds for a total of $70.

If your bets start increasing, even multiples of $5 for your "even" bets may make the dealer payouts a little easier...

or they will tell you to throw a few ones and pay you out in reds- if they're that good.

and the place bet version of
"Five, Even, Any" (for Pass/Come Odds)
is Sixes (for 6/8) and Fives (everything else)
