    My Trip Report

383E9185-DA92-4291-BF4C-800F6B4392F4.jpeg C923EA26-CBA0-4CD2-BA47-91E041363A82.jpeg Pregame a little green dutchie before hopping on the plane

    pdx-LAS

    Southwest flight ✈️ full

Feeling relaxed in the clouds for the duration of the trip; legit landing was rough; didn’t notice

took rando pics of the inside of the plane

There’s a Shake Shack in the LAS Las Vegas Southwest terminal and indulged in a milkshake; worth it.

Terminal is packed with people like legit busy like it used to be prior to pandemic

There was a dude in the line in front of us at Shake Shack who openly dumpster dived the trash and picked up someone’s leftover meal; He also bought a $5 fries with a debit card and got a full hamburger and fries.

The leg to RNO is taking off, more later

We landed early; sat around for the shuttle and it never came; no worries it was a beautiful sunset. We finally called the hotel and they asked us to take a cab and would remiburse us; we contemplated Uber at that point but opted for the cab. For the record cab was cheaper than Uber estimate:

    Uber pricing $25
    Cab $12 +3 card fee

    Hotel upgraded us to concierge room;
    Nice room. Hotel is nice, having a drink and a snack then heading for casino;

i took a pic of a beautifully carved watermelon at the closed salad bar; everything is dark here; hope it comes out

There are soft thick robes and a pair of slippers.

There’s an old fashioned land line in the bathroom haha, coffee service, plenty of chargers and lightning fast internet.

The concierge lounge has been a delight. It’s a little early and a contemplated a Bloody Mary but thought better if it, trying to curb day drinking to start after 10am

We are going to try to return for happy hour because the bartender is a treat and the bar menu is inviting.

Love me some Atlantis. By far my fav casino in Reno. I have never had any big wins there but love playing. I especially like the video poker bar by that waterfall.

All looks good. Lounge is a nice touch. If you haven't used the Hamilton Beach coffee maker before, only put in the amount of water you want to brew. It's not a reservoir set up like Kuerig. I have one and found out the hard way. Have a great trip.

    We are having a blast

We ubered to our bank bc someone forgot cash (me) then walked to Cal Neva which was close by.

Very small, quaint casino; terrible outcome
For me lol; lots of video poker and slot donation. Hubs stayed even..

    Interesting photo about the motorcycles-
    They are everywhere here,
    Must be a thing.

We got a little of the river in, but it was hot so after Cal Neva we did the National Auto Museum

The National auto museum was a ton of old cars, there was a History of Bill Harrah film with terrible acting and 80s kitsch, then lots and lots of cars, pretty cool it was a
Car collectors dream, we don’t collect cars so…it was okay. The best car was the gold plated DeLorean, that was worth it!

for irony I included pics of the shuttered Harrahs…the cars made it; casino didn’t

Back at the hotel - we went to Fruit hour at the concierge lounge; enjoyed a summer cocktail

then went down to briefly do video poker

both of us hit 4oak, nickels, we are starting out light..long trip - better than Cal Neva

it was nice to find these low limits; my local makes me a commit to a dollar (4 quarters/play)
little more stressful to play well

Last night…I was trying to keep this live but it’s nearly impossible when you are playing and having drinks I was worried so I put my phone away for part of the night

we went back to the concierge for appetizer hour and had more cocktails; the atmosphere up there is so chill, with a view, away from the smoky casino plus we were the only ones at the bar and had the bartender to ourselves. One thing I regretted to mention earlier is that the room special we booked with a the hotel includes a $30/day resort credit; so those cocktails come off at checkout.

We found a progress video poker next to a max coin 5 —-I’m not as patient, but my hubs had a nice slow burn and came up ahead; he magically pulls these great hands in

    I got impatient at 20
Coins in that progressive and lost immediately then switched to slots; I played this machine old fashioned reel, I’ll try to take a pic this morning if I don’t have it, but it was gloriously dumping when I got to it; for the day I’m $40 up —expecting to lose at least $100-$200 a day at the casino, this has been a treat.

For the only really mild disappointment of the trip I turn to Bistro Napa; our beloved concierge bartender convinced us to switch our dinner plans to the hotel restaurants; we weren’t really super hungry by that time anyhow, snacking all day at the concierge. So we opted for Bistro Napa. It has small plates with a gourmet feel. It’s an open area restaurant that sprawls into the convention area.

The food was great; the service was not. Ten minutes to get noticed and waters. The shoved our silverware at us and when the waiter found we were ordering apps and water he disappeared till the bill. Meanwhile we watched him lavishing on another table that ordered wine. After drinks all night and not being excited about the wine list; I really did just want water.

I get more attention at Applebee’s. It was meh for me, but the hubs always makes it fun and we used being ignored as a chance to just chat without being interrupted; it was fine.

As I sit here right this wrapped in the biggest softest towel I’ve had at a hotel; and lounging in my equally soft Atlantis robe, This hotel has been perfection so far, it gets a pass on one errant waiter.

I just hit a tiny lucky shooter 150/1 on the way out the door; morning cash outs have been decent

if I had hit that big one I would probably never leave this place - so a nice morning.

One pro-tip for anyone coming here to Atlantis, the elevator is fast; doors shut on you if you aren’t quick/ have your card ready or it will zoom off and leave you

below I added pics of the concierge lounge and the lounge view of the city

A wonderful first leg of what I’m expecting will continue to be a great trip—on our way to the Peppermill next

I screenshot this from my phone. We are doing the Lyft wait thing for our trip to the Peppermill. It’s a little cheaper,

It’s been pretty easy; about a 10 minutes wait

while we were waiting the fountains did a little show

Slots and video poker have been
Friendly so far they got a sign up deal up to 100’freeplay back for new players; def taking advantage.

If the Atlantis is like a Cadillac- this is a Rolls, Peppermill room exceeded expectations.

Did mobile check in, got a notification at 3:15
    Room ready.

Well appointed, beautiful Italian style my
Pics don’t do justice. We upgraded to the pool view; not sure of this decision because the pool is chock full of people but it is a nice gated patio and it’s a little loud, but it closes at ten, so we can come back and enjoy silence **hopefully**
