    Greetings,

I have been to Vegas 8 times with only two of those trips being once in May and once in August. All of my other trips were in the fall months. I have never been to a pool at any of the hotels I've stayed at, and so, I want to change that this summer. I've decided that my next stay will be at Cosmo in July.

I know Vegas can get triple digit hot in the summer months. My first question: is July too hot in Vegas to enjoy meandering around the city or relaxing by/or in the pool?

My second question: Is it better to book a day bed or something similar to get access to the pool or just show up early for entry? Most likely, this will be a solo trip. If I book a bed or cabana, will I have a spot to secure items I may take with me while I'm in the pool? I know that might sound silly but, again, I've never done the pool scene there :D

Any info or best practices advice will be appreciated. I want to make sure I know proper pool etiquette

Most properties' cabanas have safes, and almost all daybeds and loungers do not. It is in my opinion too hot in July to do much walking around outside but nice for a dip in the pool or hanging out pool side if you have some form of shade, or dont burn as easily as I do. Hard to say what things will look like come July, but my last trips it has been pretty impossible (or at least inconvenient to the point it's not worth it) to access a pool unless you wait in line before they open or have a reserved spot.

If money is no object, I'd say book the cabana - even solo. You'll get a safe for your stuff and you'll have shade when you want/need it.

I've become an annual July-er for Vegas (usually during the first week of July), and it is certainly hot! With that said, it hasn't stopped me or my group from walking around a bit, but I wouldn't want to walk Mandalay to Wynn, that's for sure.

We've done the pool every summer but have always gone with a cabana. This year our friends aren't coming along, so we'll be giving a daybed a shot for the first time for the lower spend, but to still have a reserved "home base" with shade (umbrella). Of note, the Cosmopolitan daybeds do not have safes, but the cabanas do.

I've never felt "too hot" in Vegas even during triple digit weather. I find dry desert heat to be manageable simply by staying hydrated, finding shade, and jumping in the pool as necessary.

You can also plan your day around the temperature by doing more of your outdoor stuff in the morning and evening and more of your indoor stuff mid-day.

We hiked Red Rock on a nearly 100 degree day two days in a row and had no problems or discomfort. Of course, we were on the trail by 9am and off before noon and I wore a wide brim hat that kept the sun off my face.

As some have mentioned, if you can afford it go with a cabana at least one day on your solo trip in July. It is worth the investment. If you opt to not get the cabana, get to the pool early, and enjoy. Everywhere will be busier than normal this summer.

For me, I LOVE going to the pool in Las Vegas during the summer, but I have to have shade or I can't do the pool.

One thing that has really paid off for me during “swim season” is to get a room with a view of the pool. It’s really convenient to come back to my room at odd times during the day and look down at the pool area and see what the lounger/umbrella situation is.

I hVe had a cabana at the Flamingo, a cabana at MGM and a daybed at MGM. All in July. Yes it is hot. We got there early - at opening - and left by mid - afternoon. All were outstanding experiences.
If you have a group of 3 or more, the cabana is worth it. But when it was just me and one other, the daybed was definitely the way to go.

Shade is key, you really should not go to a Vegas pool in June/July or August without an umbrella (at a minimum).

Cabanas are above my paygrade, but I wouldn't do pool time without one in July.

We almost always go July/August. And we've done a cabana at the pool for most visits. Didn't feel like fighting to get an umbrella and all that. Much better situation w/your own spot.
