    My Trip Report

Jeff, Lee and I began planning a trip to Vegas in April. Initially there were supposed to be upwards of 6 guys going along but in the end, there were only 3. Jeff and I live in Atlanta. Lee moved to Kansas last year.

    Thursday

Met Jeff at the airport where we boarded an uneventful flight to Vegas. We secured our luggage and scored a Dodge Durango. Jeff and I took the short drive from the rental car facility and arrived at the Luxor at ~11:30 AM where the check in line was very long. We were in a dilemma. We reserved 2 rooms at Luxor Since we were stuck with 2 rooms for 3 guys, we were going to try to upgrade to a suite via the $20 trick. We stood in line for ~20 mins before we were called to the check in counter by an attractive older Latina. I placed a folded 20 between my license and my AMEX card and Jeff and I explained our dilemma. She took a look at the 20 and said she would love to help us out but they are overbooked on all of the suites. As a matter of fact they were offering incentives for those who booked suites to downgrade to regular rooms. She even turned her computer monitor towards us to show they had -15 suites in each category available. She gave the $20 back and said she would give us 2 rooms in the East tower next to each other. So Jeff and I checked into our rooms. We waited ~ 30 mins for our luggage to arrive, then quickly unpacked.

Here are a few random pics of the 2 queen bed room in the Luxor East Tower.

We then drove South of the strip to the Callaway Golf Center to hit a few balls in the Las Vegas heat, try out a few new golf clubs from Callaway and to have lunch. We chatted with a few cool bruthas at the bar one who is lead singer for a band called Rhythm Nation and the other plays Sammy Davis Jr. in the Rat Pack. We exchanged numbers and hoped to hook up for a round of golf. I looked at my cell phone and realized Lee’s airplane was due to arrive in 5 mins so we left for the airport.

Here is a shot of the rental car.

After picked up Lee from the airport, we drove south of the strip to Food For Less where we purchased a few bottled of booze, Coronas and a case of bottled water then headed back to Luxor so Lee could get settled in before a little gambling. We cracked a bottle of Crown Royal, had about Eleventy drinks then settled down at a $10 BJ table where we played for few hours. We called it a night at ~7:00 PM then headed up to the room for a few more drinks and to get cleaned up for Dinner. I booked an 8:40 PM reservation at The Steakhouse at Circus Circus. The meal was fantastic. I highly recommend the Steak House at Circus Circus. The filet was charred on the outside and tender on the inside, the garlic mash was flavorful and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. I highly recommend this place.

We caught a cab from Circus Circus over to Sapphire where we had a ball. The ladies were gorgeous and VERY friendly. Send a PM for details. We called it a night at ~ 2:00 AM because we had a busy day ahead.

    Friday

We dragged ourselves out of bed and headed to Paris for Le Village breakfast buffet. We arrived at ~ 9:00 and the line was a little long. After breakfast, we headed out to The Badlands for Golf. Breakfast at Paris was great as ever. We snapped a few pics then drove out to The Badlands.

We arrived about an hour early of our 11:30 Tee time. An attendant loaded our bags onto 2 golf carts, along with a small ice chest filled with bottled water. She told us outside coolers were not allowed on the golf course. After a 5 dollar tip she decided to look the other way. After we hit a few practice balls, we were allowed to Tee off earlier than our 11:30 Tee time.

The Badlands is desert golf at its finest. The course was challenging but not impossible to play, even for a hacker like me. Having the cooler full of bottles of water really helped out as the temperature reached ~ 104 degreed F. Even though we had our own water, we purchased several bottles of Gatorade from the beer girl. There was a guy that rode around in a golf cart handing out ice cold fragranced towels that really cooled us off. The golf carts at the Badlands have air conditioner units that blow cool air on the back of your neck. That also helped keep us cool.

After golf, we went to a Spa and relaxed a bit with a massage. After our massage, we had dinner at the Bellagio’s buffet. The buffet was spectacular. The Crab legs, rack of lamb, prime rib, salads, lobster ravioli, strawberry and pistachio torte, and shrimp were incredible. After stuffing ourselves, we went back to the room for a quick nap, and a few drinks before meeting our group at Revolution in the Mirage.

We booked a club hopping tour with Nite Tours. We cabbed it over to The Mirage and met up with our Nite Tours group at ~ 8:45 PM where our host was Shannon. Here are a few pics of our group.
    http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1101/1190340502_7452d879d7_m.jpg

We introduced ourselves and had a few drinks at Revolution before heading to our next stop. Shannon booked a Super Stretch Ford Excursion Limo. The Limo met us at the Mirage and took us to our next stop, VooDoo Lounge at The Rio. Shannon walked up to the doorman, spoke a few words and he pulled the velvet rope aside and let us in. The view from VooDoo was incredible. There was a live band inside and a DJ outside. We had a few drinks, and danced a little. Jeff really got the party started by dancing with a few girls that did their stripper impersonations by dancing on a raised platform with a stripper pole.

We had a ball at VooDoo. After spending about 1 ½ - 2 hours at Voodoo we boarded the Limo and went to Rain at The Palms. There was chilled champagne and bottled water in the Limo.

We experienced the same drill, Shannon walked up to the doormen at the clubs, spoke a few words and we bypassed the long line and walked right into the club. Rain was probably my favorite club on the tour. We had a few drinks then hit the dance floor. The DJ at rain was insane; he played a great mixture of old school hip hop, R&B, house, techno and other dance music.

Lee stole the show at Rain when he showed off his foot massaging skills on the dance floor. That girl was all his after the foot massage.

After we left Rain, we boarded the Limo once again and headed to Light at the Bellagio.

We found a place at the bar, ordered another round, lit up a few cigar, then hit the dance floor. After a few hours, we lost track of the group somewhere on the dance floor. The 3 of us drank, danced and partyed in Light until ~3:30 – 4:00 AM. We cabbed it over to Ellis Island to give the alcohol in our stomachs a little company.

Days 3 and 4 Saturday and Sunday.

I woke up ~11:30 AM with one of the worst hangovers in modern history so I went back to sleep until ~ 1:30 PM. I rounded up the fellas and we headed south on the BLVD to find some greasy food to help alleviate our hangovers and to grab some cash from an ATM. Nothing like greasy food to after a night of heavy drinking. Lee and I went to the Spa to soak in the whirl pool and Jeff went to play the Par 3 at the Callaway Golf Center. It dawned on us our room came with coupons for a few cans of Million, the Luxor’s hangover remedy drink. After leaving the spa, we went to the sundries shop to get our hangover remedy. Million was a success. 30 mins after drinking 2 cans of million, I finally began to feel better. I read the ingredients on the can and the drink includes an abundance of B Vitamins, no caffeine and no alcohol. The abundance of B Vitamins explains why we felt better. Heavy drinking results in B vitamin deficiency which is why we feel like crap after a bender. We all took naps then decided to spend our last night downtown. Lee and Jeff had been to Vegas before but neither had been downtown.

We got up and were dressed by 10:00 PM and drove the Durango downtown, after drinking a few margaritas in the room. We decided to take the rest of the margaritas with us so we packed the bottle in the cooler and placed it in the back of the truck. We valet parked at one of the Casinos, poured a Margarita for the walk to Freemont Street. We walked up and down Freemont Street under the canopy while watching one of the light shows. After getting a good buzz from the margaritas, we decided to try the steak and lobster special at Tony Romas. Big mistake. The steak was tough and chewy and the lobster was just ok. Our expectations were not very high for a $10 steak and lobster special but we were still disappointed.

After dinner we hit a $5 BJ table at Terribles. I took a beating by a dealer named Mark. I told him I bet the people upstairs loves him but I hate his guts. I really gave him a hard time then I tipped him pretty good despite the constant kicking in the nuts. Jeff won $140, I was down $60 and Lee broke even. At ~ 2:00 AM, we were exhausted so we headed back to The Luxor.

Jeff’s flight out was scheduled at 7:30AM, Lee’s flight was scheduled for 10:30 AM and mine was 12:20 PM.

Lee had a 6:15 AM wake up call and left the room at 7. I woke up when he left at 7 and decided to grab a shower and have breakfast at Luxor, then hit the casino before leaving for the airport at ~ 10:00AM. I received a text message from Lee saying the airport was a mad house and he suggested that I arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to my departure time.

I went to the Sunday Brunch buffet at Luxor. Sunday Brunch was nothing special, but not bad either. I had a veggie omelet, mimosa, coffee, French toast and fresh carved ham, again nothing special but not bad either. Since I was down $80.00 for the trip I decided to try to win my money back.

After walking around looking for a BJ table, I then decided to give the WOF slots a try. I put $80 bucks in and went to work. I was, up , down, up, down, up, down, up, down. Then I heard the magic words, WHEEEEELLL OFFFFF FORRTUNNNNNE. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE BONUS ROUND. I won 66 credits, then 700 bonus credits. A nice little old lady was sitting behind me watching me like a hawk as she drank her Amstel Light at 9:00 AM. I played the WOF machine for a few more minutes then all of a sudden……… WHEEEEELLL OFFFFF FORRTUNNNNNE. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE BONUS ROUND. This time I hit for 450 credits. I looked over to the little old lady and say to her, she’s all yours I have a plane to catch I cashed out with $442 bucks, grabbed my ticket and went to one of the ATM/Ticket machines. Received my 4 $100 bills, 2 $20 bills and 2 bucks then headed up to the room to grab my bags. Picked up the Durango from the valet, dropped a nice tip and apologized to him for putting up with my sh!+ all weekend. I then headed to the rental car facility.

The airport was a madhouse. I still arrived at the gate an hour early and fought like hell to keep away from the WOF machines at the airport. I instead purchased a few gifts from the fancy $10 dollar store, ate a Cinnabon and boarded the plane.

    A few random observations:

Luxor is a great hotel for Vegas veterans. There were a few $10 BJ tables and cocktail service was great. I tipped the waitress $2 bills and she returned with Coronas and Crown Royal on the rocks before we finished the ones in our hands.

There were allot of kids at The Luxor. At 5 different times I almost stepped on a toddler as I rounded the corner to get on the elevator. I’m starting to fall into the group of people that believe Vegas is no place for kids. Before this trip I did not have much of an opinion on kids in Vegas.

Sapphire is an awesome strip club.

NiteTours is the best bargain in Vegas.

    Always rent a car. ALWAYS!

Start on Page 7 to get an idea of how the trip flowed.

Thanks for the trip report. Interested in learning more about Nite Tours. How much do they charge? I assume there is a fixed price per person but no club entry fees (just drink costs)? Would you do that again or try something different?

We paid $99 per person for the Nite Tours club hopping package. They are now running a special for $89 per person. You could also find passes for this tour on eBay for allot less.

The cost includes cover charge, no line, no waiting entry into 4 Vegas hot spots, Limo or Limo bus transportation, and champagne and bottled water in the Limo. You have to purchase your own drinks once you get in the club.

The host will give you a time and a place to meet up if you would like to continue on with the tour. You are more than welcome to stay at the 1st, second or third club if you wish.

We are already planning on doing the nite tours club hopping package again during our next trip. I highly recommend Nite Tours.

    Aloha Kel.

Let me begin by saying I love Hawaii. I spent 4 1/2 year there from 1994-1998 serving in the Army at Ft. Shafter. My son was born in Hawaii. I remember reading in the newspaper about great deals from Hawaii to Vegas and talking to locals about their vacations to Vegas. The UH -vs- UNLV Football rivalry used to be a pretty good one during the days of the WAC.

As far as the tour, http://www.nitetourslasvegas.com/ use the link or the phone number listed on their website. Also, check ebay, you may be able to find a pass at a bargain price.

Let me know if I could be of more help.

    Mahalo, nui loa & Aloha

2 years before my first Vegas trip and when I joined this site and Trip advisor, the Luxor was the place I wanted to stay. Mainly for the cool factor. I never understand(stood) why Luxor receives so much bad press. The tower rooms were as nice as, actually nicer than the volcano room I stayed in at Mirage. The location is not that big of a deal because I rent a car. The location worked in my favor because I had easy access to Frank Sinatra, and the interstate to bypass the strip during peak time.

The Luxor is a great bargain and the location is great if you rent a car.

Very nice TR, Taris! Air conditioners in golf carts and cold, fragranced towels still can't entice me from the pool but I bet it was awesome for you guys. Thanks for the photos, always love the photos. I think I might have to check into the Nite Tour club hopping package, sounds like a good deal to me, I'd pay that much for just the limo ride and champagne alone. :drunk:

a great read, you guys are definitely on the first team for partying! :nworthy: The limo sounds like a great deal, just skip the Andre champagne, that's what gave you the bad head the next day!!! Lots of water before you go to bed and B-12 tablets dissolved under the tongue work for me.
