    My Trip Report

I figured I would write this down so I can remember.

House prices are extremely crazy in my neighborhood. So earlier in May I was in New Or\leans at Harrah's and decided to chat with a realtor and see if she thought I could get the right price. She did listed the house it sold and 3 weeks later it was time for the move. Yesterday I sold all of my furniture via facebook marketplace - it was a mad dash - and all of my boxes went into a storage unit. I've got a large suitcase and a carry on that I am living out of. This morning signed the paperwork wearing my WWF Ted DiBiase shirt and was on my way. No bills other than storage, phone, and car insurance, it is a really odd feeling. Sad to move as I had a great location - I'll post my old view at my house -but this will be fun.

Plan for now is to stay at the Hard Rock in Hollywood during the week and then travel somewhere on the weekend. So far I'm in for $500 free play and a $75k blackjack tournament today.

When the realtor calls to tell you the deal funded and the wire has been processed – don’t tell them you are at the blackjack table. I played for an hour in the high limit area and made out. It will be interesting to see how much I play which I think will mostly be when friends come to visit.

Need to figure out what to do with the money and all the tax and homestead complications. Normally would buy stocks but plan to be a bit conservative, maybe some REITs. I’ll give myself a week to come up with a plan.

I went for a UPS store for a mailing address and ship packages to an amazon locker if needed.

It is a bit of a hassle to change the address on all my accounts.

No one I talk to understands as they cant relate. I don’t mind working from a hotel and like traveling so it’s a great fit. I’ll find something permanent at some time but not in any rush.

Room – I’ve got a nice room with a balcony overlooking the pool. I picked the old hotel this week as I like the pool better as it has a hot tubs and slide. There is a mini fridge so I’ll buy some fruit or salad tomorrow from the constant grind and eat it later. It has the nice waterfall shower and multi shower heads so I am happy. Also a couch and desk as well as another workspace by the tv. Overall it is a good place to be set up. The internet is a bit dodgy though for webex video so I’ll need to keep my eye on it. No housekeeping so I ordered extra towels and supplies for the week.

Food – Food is free and I plan on winning enough on any given day to pay for tips.

Day 1 – Lunch at the Hard Rock Café. Tupelo Chicken and twisted mac n cheese. Dinner at council oak. Steak, potato and salad.

Snacks – Popcorn, m&ms and a bunch of drinks from the hard rock store. Not for now just for the week.

Pool – Very crowded as I think people are in town for memorial day. Pool use to be closed during the week for covid but it is now open 12-8. Bar is open but not the restaurant.

I had two $250 free plays. Didn’t put in any cash. Played one hand with a double, lost, and went on my way. There was a blackjack tournament as well but not the good kind. This is one where it is you against the dealer. Basically you bet all your money every hand and if you win them all you get a prize. No skill just luck. I didn’t feel like waiting for 11 for the results so I’ll check in the am. I don’t think I’ll win anything as I started with 25k in play chips and got to $75k which wont be enough to place.

Made a reservation for the Italian restaurant tomorrow. But I am tired tonight so just going to lounge around watching hockey and catch up some sleep….and of course figure out what to do this weekend. Torn between staying here to see Sammy Hagar or venturing out.

This sounds like a crazy adventure in so many ways. I'm checking in to Hard Rock Tampa tomorrow for the first time on what I think is an inordinately generous offer for my one day of past drop in play, also supposed to have a balcony pool view suite if I dont get bumped, and I'll be dining at the Rez tomorrow unless I switch to the italian place lol. It is a toss up for me.

You are living the dream! I'll be following along for sure - can't wait to see how the adventure goes.

I've done the *homeless* thing a couple times for a total of probably 2.5 years - there were things about it I really loved and things about it I found very frustrating. Kind of like every other living situation I've been in, really. All of that time was before I started doing any gambling - would be fun to try it again with comped stays in the mix.

Is it really a "trip report" if you live there?

This seems like an excellent experiment that I appreciate you sharing with us!

Wow. This takes stones! I dream of being free of all our sh*t, but couldn't ever pull this off. And the constant temptation of living in a casino hotel. Please keep it within your means. This story needs a happy ending (and not at the massage parlor).

    Following.

I've spoken with professional tournament poker dealers (pre-pandemic) and some of have a similar lifestyle. I asked one guy where he called home and he said that he had storage unites in New Hampshire and Florida.

Only on VMB would this be floated and not an eye roll in sight! Love this idea. Absolutely LOVE it.

Bravo to you Mr. DiBiase, I mean @texascane. I believe we would all like to know how Virgil feels about being left behind? Or did he tag along too?

Wish you the best on this intriguing journey!
