On the website, you can only book through 4/22.

Those April prices can’t be right? I agree with you. When I first heard about their rates I said the same thing. Figured it would have slowed down by now

It's an April Fools joke for the entire month.

Hello, pot, meet Javier's. They literally said they were fully committed and wouldn't let us even put our names down.

That's gotta be a website screwup. I cannot imagine they're actually expecting people to pay that. I wouldn't pay that for Wynn Tower Suites.

Probably just the max rate they have fit standard rooms and someone in another department decided to go through 4/2022 and the price schedulers only had info through 3/2022

I am guessing it's a default value, so they don't accidentally allow someone to book a room at too low a price before they actually determine room rates for that month. We allowed that to happen once or twice for our Airbnb house when the default price was set too low as the house became available 6 months in advance and it was a costly mistake.

I don't think it's necessary to book rooms that far in advance, unless you see something absurdly cheap- just what they're probably trying to avoid with the $2999 rooms.

Its a practice often seen in retail here and there where something isn't really for sale but they want it ready to go in the DB so they give it an outrageous price. No idea why they wouldn't just have the month unavailable as it is their own site, but in this case they likely have it in there as they want to stay in search algorithms for aggregators but dont want actual bookings yet, or something like that.

I hope that this indicates that @FormallyTD is planning a trip. More importantly a trip report.

It happens in Vegas, too, when they want to "reserve" a table but not go through the paperwork, so they'll just it up to some absurd amount that nobody will ever actually play at.

Although they're still the new shiny thing, they also have the largest standard rooms in all of downtown with all the tech features, etc. They also have that big swim area with the giant screen and are adults only. Couple all of that with the insane amounts of people headed to Vegas right now. There's really no need for them to lower their rates (although that April 2022 is obviously a placeholder until they set the actual rates.

i don't understand their end game.

i don't want to play green chips downtown. i can do that on the strip. downtown i want to low roll and get super inebriated.

after the shine wears off - after they're not the shiny new penny (hello Resorts World) - what's their play?

Does anyone know if all the Circa rooms are completed yet? I thought I read that they opened with only partially full occupancy. Maybe their rates(and not just 4-22!!) come down a lil bit if that’s the case, once other rooms become available.

I'm sure their strategy is to charge as much as they can get away with while they can, just like everyone else.

Nice thing about the casino business is that market feedback is right there on the floor in front of you. Packed house? Raise the limits. Nobody playing? Lower the limits. The only time I'm ever confused is when when you go into a casino to play craps and there are 4 open tables at $25 with nobody playing.

Gotta make some progress on that massive note payment on the billion dollar building while the getting is good.

That said, I think there is a market downtown for higher level play. Golden Nugget has for years had packed tables at relatively higher limits than anywhere else in my experience. I know from myself that I've never stopped liking downtown even as my career and financial situation has progressed significantly. I can afford to play green chips today far more than I could even afford to play red chips 10 years ago and I still want to devote some time to downtown every trip.

I can't imagine that ever changing.

What has Golden Nuggets's play been? There's room for premium options downtown as all sorts like coming there. It has its own attractions and food district and is closer together than the strip, so for some it will be about more than a cheap gamble.

And for the rest of us, it is a cool walk through on our way to the cheap tables elsewhere.

Golden nugget always had middle of the road rooms and rates compared to the strip.

The person I was replying to was talking gaming limits, not room rates.

Regardless, I'd expect Circa to stay the priciest downtown, but when the novelty wears off room pricing will level off somewhat from current levels. Higher than GN but not strip high end level.

Agree. By keeping rates slightly higher and keeping Circa a solid 4*, Derek also has the added benefit of attracting a higher level of clientele downtown to patronize his other 2 properties as well.
