Craft Root Beer

One of the things that to love trying in various restaurant, breweries, or bars are craft root beers.

Where are some decent root beers in Las Vegas?

 

Root beer is probably my single favorite soda.

I haven't done too many craft joints, but most places with "brewery" in their name should have something. Big Dog's is great, as is Ellis Island.

 

Ellis Island makes a great home-brewed root beer.

 

It’s been awhile, but I enjoyed the root beer at Benny’s BBQ in Binion’s. I think it’s listed as Chicago Brewing Company Root Beer.

 

Chicago Brewery does have good root beer. Throw a 20 in the bartop and go for it!!!

 

Wait.... These breweries listed above serve root beer? Do they have alcohol in them???? I love a good root beer.

 

At Chicago Brewery at Four Queens, I love the homemade rootbeer with vanilla vodka.

 

Chicago Brewing Company does. I’m surprised you didn’t already know this with how much you enjoy some suds. They have a smaller selection of craft beers - see menu.

 

Nice! I have seen them in stores, but never thought about breweries making them. I'll be making a stop in a few weeks hahaha.

 

Ever try Captain and Cream Soda?

 

I can't say I have, but that sounds pretty awesome. Back in college I was too cheap to buy Red Bull, so I would buy root beer and Jager for parties. We called them barrel bombs lol.

 

I am second guessing the accolades I gave your trip reports (to my internal disgusting self) as I ASSUMED you were aware of the beer of root at 4Queens. Otherwise I’d of suggested.

Ok. DON’T dilute the first one with alcohol, but rather enjoy it for what it is. And you’ll love it.
And if Kim is the bartender, you’ll order it and she’ll say “that’s IT?” which is where you throw in the “oh yeah, and a shot of...” so she can grin and think to herself, “I thought that was next.....”.

 

My daughter had a great bottled root beer from a local (Henderson/Vegas) brewer Joseph James one time, but I just read they ceased operations about a year ago.

Ellis Island's draft root beer is quite good.

 

Generally no alcohol in "root beer", same as with "ginger ale" or "ginger beer".

 

For me, Chicago Brewery at the Four Queens root beer is much better than Ellis Island's. The way the CB version coats your mouth, it feels like you are drinking a liquid dessert!

Uh-ooo. They love serving it too but beware,,,,,the stairs are steep and they close at some point. (Get a gallon to go). The stairs are steep !!

 

I am willing to take full credit @wasilla. I know you partake more than your fair share of "cereal in a mug" while in downtown Vegas. Accordingly, comped "hard" root beer while playing VP is a nice change of pace.

Damn straight you get full credit. I never even considered mixing the two before you started going on about it. Mostly they do reasonable vodka pours and it is a nice change of pace. Sometimes, though, my head starts to spin and that warning about the stairs becomes relevant.
