    My Trip Report

Today I'm about to embark on my first Vegas trip since late in 2019. I used to do trip reports, but haven't since coming here. There's a reason for that. (see title) But, I figured if I opened a thread I could throw up some pictures as I rolled along or barely rolled along.

I'm staying at Gold Coast all 4 nights. I was supposed to spend 2 at Park MGM, but I freaked myself out and decided to stay at my old home base for this first trip back. I have another trip in June and maybe I'll feel comfortable hitting some new spots then. I'm still pissed at Boyd, but free rooms count for something.

This was to be my first trip in more years than I can count that I had no animals on medications. Of course I decided to make a last minute Friday vet appointment to have one of the boys looked at since he was looking a little thin to me. The vet asked me if I was sure because he was perfect body weight. Yes, I'm sure, he used to be fat. As expected the T4 was off the chart so now Lex is on twice daily thyroid medication for life. Easy peasy.

Time to hit the road. I'll see you all later.

Looking forward to the trip report. Good luck!

Some questions that maybe you can answer. I haven't been to the Gold Coast since Feb. 2020, and I'm curious about the below.

    1) If you take the shuttle (free) between Gold Coast --> Orleans --> The Strip (Linq High Roller area), I'm curious if you can report back the results on it. On-time? All three stops? Decent service?

    2) If you are a VP player and like bartops, last I knew there was full pay 9/6 JoB at the Island Bar at the 50c level. Can you verify that this is still the case? (It has to be the Island Bar, I don't think any other bars have full pay JoB.)

    3) There is a slot with a progressive, last I knew, that has been at $999,999.99 (i.e. one penny short of $1 million), for years now, every time I check. It is located about halfway between hotel registration and the host's office. I seem to recall it is near the Subway, too. There is a bank of maybe 5 machines. Hopefully this is enough information for you to find it. Can you verify that it still hasn't hit, i.e. it's still "stuck" at $999,999.99? Maybe you can play a few spins yourself, who knows, maybe you'll hit it. :)

Anyway, good luck and have fun.

The good news is Groome Transportation reopened in Oregon on May 3rd. Picked me up off I-5 in Woodburn for a nice relaxing 45 minute ride to PDX. $56 RT. Airport parking would cost about that, so it's a good deal.

The bad news is that my favorite place to eat at PDX appears to be gone. No Mo's. No chowder. No shrimp salad. In fact, all the food places by the gates are GONE. I don't count ice cream and Jamba juice. Here I am 2 hours early with a Reece's peanut butter cup for lunch.

    Damn. o_O

Shuttle is supposed to be running now. I'll take a ride and report back on how that goes

I caught the 109s at ground zero to the transit mall, short ride, maybe five minutes. Going to catch the 104 and see if that's a winner.

So far 2 people have offered me their bus pass with time on it. I must look needy. I got a cup in my bag. Maybe I should get it out.

I never thought of this route. Interested in how it all goes. I'll be catching the 108n on my next trip. 3 stops up is Virgin Hotel.

The 104 goes past the Las Vegas sign, turns at Mandalay and goes past the big black tidy bowl. Stops just past Flamingo on Valley View across the street from Gold Coast. For a $1.50 it gets a thumbs up

I'm checking in. 2 nights comped, 2 nights paid. Clerk asks if I'd like to see if they can comp all 4 nights. Well yes, I said, that would be great.

    SCORE! And.... :woohoo:

I visited the Orleans last Thursday and the gold coast on Friday and both days people were waiting for the shuttle. I didn't stick around long enough to see the shuttle though.

FYI, the shuttle stops off at the Fashion show mall, not the Linq.

Now that your boy Lex is on medications, you once more have a "normal" trip. (Sorry.) Knock 'em dead in Vegas!
