    My Trip Report

Took advantage of my first junket. St. Pete to Biloxi. Harrah’s was about the same size as Super Walmart, and equally as exciting. We took the casino hopper to Hard Rock/Beau, and waited 45 mins to find an Uber to a local Mexican place for Cinco De Mayo food and margs in the burbs. Once we were finished eating/getting day drunk, it took over an HOUR to find an available Uber back.

The weather sucked all three days, so there was NOTHING to do but gamble, eat and sleep.

Had three hand pays, and still lost almost a grand, but earned 7900 TC (I’m not sure if that includes daily bonuses?)

The hotel was clean, service was excellent, Swift air did a fine job with the charter flights/luggage handling. The Starbucks in the lobby was convenient, but had a moldy sandwich in the case all three days (even after I pointed it out to them on day one.)

We were the youngest people on the trip by 20+ years. It was an hour flight each way, so it wasn’t terrible to wear a mask- Except for the flights, mask wearing was virtually non-existent, especially at Hard Rock, where many of the staff wasn’t even masked. I guess Covid is over in Mississippi? If I weren’t fully vax, I guarantee I’d have caught the Rona.

Hard Rock is its own player’s club, not linked to Vegas, or my local (Seminole.)

Needless to say, I didn’t leave anything there, and have no reason to ever go back. I’ll stick to Tampa, and Vegas (once masks aren’t required on planes)

I’m sure it was nice at Harrahs but I believe a junket to the Beau would be a nicer experience for you to try before giving up on Biloxi.

I like Biloxi a lot but it's definitely pretty much a gambling only experience.

    Bleach?
    Botox?

I was expecting some reports on persona "touchups" or something.

Meanwhile - if you can spend time at the Beau it is a step up for sure. We keep trying to have a good time at Harrahs, but it just does not work.

Agree on Harrah's GC, not sure why they made the casino so tiny.
Was Beau the only casino still requiring masks?

I agree, there's definitely more to Biloxi beyond gambling, eating and sleeping (There are several good restaurants in the area). Beach, aquarium that I still haven't been to, plus some pretty good casinos!

    Beau is particularly nice.

I thought harrahs still requires it too nationwide? Would be happy if they weren’t really enforcing it though. Going in a few weeks and it would be nice not having to wear one there. Although it sounds like some of the others don’t so maybe I’ll venture to other casinos.

The casino is tiny because instead of rebuilding after Katrina they just put it in Hotel. Casino barge washed up on shore after hurricane.

I could see why they wouldnt want to put in a new barge, but I thought I read that they still own a giant chunk of that vacant property across the street next to blind tiger. With Eldorado in the mix, fat chance, but they could probably take a much bigger chunk of the Biloxi market if they built a legitimate casino over there, and they already have a covered bridge crossing the road. My experience there is the hotel is nice enough, has some decent food options, nice location, but I wont take a free room there because the casino is too small for me to spend enough time in to cover my comps, and due to the way CR emphasizes daily theo so much I wont even do drop in play there because again, it cant hold my attention long enough to do even half my daily average CZR play, and there are so many better options nearby.

I can see how that particular casino would give one a bad impression. It is okay but the casino is tiny. The Beau Rivage facility is so much nicer.

I like Biloxi and will go back again if I am driving to Florida. Right now (and this can change over time), it is more fun to get on a plane and fly to Las Vegas than to travel to Biloxi. I get junket offers, but they usually include weekdays, which gets down to the choice of how to use PTO...

I don't play at all in Florida; it has just never been fun. Everyone has different experiences!

    Thanks for your report!!

Many years ago, CET started a new building where the Blind Tiger is. Maybe a couple floors. Sat there for awhile, then they tore it down. Guess they decided it was a bad investment - not sure.

Prior to Hurricane Katrina, the Biloxi Grand was one of the largest, nicest, and most fun casinos on the coast. (It is still the only place I have ever attempted to sing kareoke (sp?). After Katrina, CET started to rebuild where The Great Lawn & The Blind Tiger are now. They got the foundation in (the rebuild was going to be huge from the looks of that foundation) and had started building the floors (two I think) when the economy suffered a dip and CET couldn't get any more funding to complete the rebuild. At that time, they decided to just re-open the remaining hotel tower (there was a second hotel tower on the water side of the highway that got washed away in Katrina) and put the casino in what was their convention center pre-Katrina (also on the land side of the highway). With no more funding to complete the casino on the water side of the highway, they just demolished what they had built to that point. That is pretty much how things are still today.

Prior to Katrina, The Grand was our home base. Always housed on the gulf side, and casino was a good size. This was back when 3 card poker paid 4 for a flush, long ago. Once saw Ronnie Millsaps in the showroom. Very sad that the gulf side was never rebuilt. This is when we became MLife folks, and stay at the Beau.

I would have to agree that the Biloxi Harrah's Casino is awful, feels so closed in and layout sucks. I just get a bad vibe when I go there and have only stepped inside a few times. After the last time, I said no more......I feel the same way about the IP.... so when I go to Biloxi it's Beau, Palace and Golden Nugget for me.

Harrah’s Biloxi has a lot of garage space. IDK why some of this wasn’t converted to enlarge the casino. If needed they could put parking across the street. I agree several posters I don’t bother going there anymore.

Well, decided to postpone trip to the Beau and gulf coast beginning tonight. Don’t have a concern about getting there, but not trusting that I will be able to get home if gasoline situation doesn’t improve. See ya soon Biloxi!

Most of the gasoline on the MS Gulf Coast is supplied by the Chevron refinery in Pascagoula, MS. I was out running errands this afternoon and didn't see any cars waiting in lines to get gas. (note - I only went by two Circle K stores, a Murphy's (walmart) and a Clark's (convenience store similar to Circle K)

I know things can (and probably will) change in the next day or two, so we still intend to continue on with our trip. Worst case scenario we get stuck on the beach a few extra days? Just an extended vacation with some “work” to attend to before hitting the beach and casino! :wiggle:

    Thanks for your post.

Yes, but to get back to ATL I’d have to get gas in Alabama or west Ga. This could be the problem!

Thanks for posting the report, Congratulations on the hand pays!!

That is too bad you wouldn't go back to Biloxi, we really enjoyed our 2 trips there in Dec 2020 and March 2021. I did have to run into Harrah's to place a March Madness bet for my brother since we were having breakfast at the Waffle House nearby that was the closest place to place the bet before the games started. I did not like the casino at all, only found one machine I was interested in playing. We had ALOT of fun in all of the other casinos there, especially GN, IP, and Scarlet Pearl!!
Uber wait times were bad for us to, then tried the XL ones and never waited more than a few minutes for the 4 rides we used during primetime Saturday & Sunday nights in March.

That photo of the Katrina damage is awful, so sad.

Hope you give Biloxi another try.
