    Hi Everyone,

Due to me not pulling the trigger a week ago, I now only have comped rooms at Excalibur.

I know it is a lower end property, but we are planning on a Sept./October trip to Vegas and we have never stayed there, and I haven't paid for a room in Vegas in years. Except resort fee's. LOL It kills me to have to pay for a room. Sorry, guess I'm cheap. LOL

My comp is for their Resort Tower King/Queen or the Stay Well King/Queen. I know it is not the Wynn, but are the beds comfortable? Can't have a rock hard bed, we are old. LOL

Anything anyone can share about Excalibur would be greatly appreciated.

Need to get my Vegas fix. Those slot machines are calling. LOL

    Thank you.

We stayed there a few years ago. Had no issues with the room. If you rent a car, the self parking was easy to use. The gambling was fine (we go downtown for nearly all table games- so I can't really comment on those games). It's easy access to MGM, NY NY, Luxor and Tropicana was nice - we usually hit the comedy clubs at MGM (Brad Garrett) and the one at Tropicana each trip, so it made that nice.
We don't like sleeping on hard beds, and we have talked about being willing to go back, so they must not have been bad. The room was very average. We don't go to Vegas to spend time in the room - so for us clean and comfortable is all that matters. It had no issues for us. I do remember it taking a day to get our directions down in the casino. It is large.

It's honestly not as bad as people make it out to be! I think the corny theme makes it a punch line for Vegas goers, but it's not roach infested or really dirty, etc. The only thing that could annoy people, is it does have a ton of kids, ESPECIALLY at the pool! Other than that, low minimums, and in my experience, friendly dealers and people.

I stayed there probably 3 years ago. It was absolutely fine. If you are at all fussy about the shampoo/conditioner, bring your own. I wasn't impressed with that, but the room was fine. I actually really enjoy the property, and I hit 2 of my biggest hand-pays ever at Excalibur, an hour apart. I also really like Excalibur's location, being a hop, skip and a jump away from many other M Life properties.

    Have a great trip!

I have stayed there often and never had any issues... except that one time they put me on the 13th floor.

I like Excalibur and it's 90s vibe. I'm not fussy about beds but they seemed fine in the lowest tier room, better than the Orleans. They have a good selection of machines and I like the Krispy Kreme and adjacent resorts. I wish their steakhouse and poker room would re-open, and the tram would get running. I did find the water to be a bit funky, so bring your own bottled water, and/or opt for the stay well option. Have fun!

The rooms are recently remodeled and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are larger than most properties. I have always found drink service in the casino to be one of the best on the strip. They have several pools including one that is adults only. They do charge $10 a day for admission to the adults only pool. Buca de Bepa is a great place for inexpensive lunches and dinners. Check-in lines are kown to be long. I recommend checking in via kiosk .

I have no problem with Excalibur, personally. The intersection of cost/location is hard to beat. Even lowly MLifers like myself can get comped rooms here all the time. The rooms are smaller, but not tiny. I didn't see any big difference in room size between Excalibur and NYNY. The theming is a matter of personal taste - I like the themed casinos and am a little bit bummed that it seems to be disappearing. They do get a lot of families, so if you're a big pool person maybe that's an issue, but I don't spend a ton of time at the pool or the arcade, so it's not a big deal for me. No kids in the casino or my room. Super easy walk/tram to get to NYNY, MGM Grand, Luxor, or Mandalay as well, so you have lots of other venues in simple striking distance. So,as I see it, the bottom line is :

If you're someone who spends most of his/her time in one resort, using the pool, visiting high-end restaurants and/or nightclubs, and playing medium-high stakes - Excalibur is likely not for you. It's not a luxurious stay and you won't be rubbing elbows with the beau monde.

If you're someone looking for a cheap/free stay in a perfectly acceptable room in a good location, likes lower stakes, and uses a resort mainly to shower/sleep and as a jump off point to explore lots of other venues/casinos, it's great.

I have not stayed Excalibur, primarily because of the kid factor. However, I have researched the property. If I were comped Stay Well, I'd go with that. Not for the health benefits, but because they are the newest, most recently refreshed rooms.

Have never stayed there, but have visited many times, since we have stayed at the Luxor many times. Being connected via inside walkways to Luxor and Mandalay Bay, you could spend a lot of time between these three properties without even having to go outside.

Dick's Last Resort is a fun place for dinner.

I highly recommend heading over to the Luxor for breakfast at the Pyramid Cafe.

I've stayed there twice, no problems with the room. Excalibur is one of my favorite casinos to gamble (was my favorite spot for craps until they changed the game) so I have spent many hours on the casino floor...

I don’t mind Excalibur for a few days. (But I’d choose Luxor instead for a South strip comp to avoid all the kids at the pool.)

    Lots of Fast/Casual dining choices.
    Food court.

    Good Transportation access.
    Tram to Luxor/MB.
Easy walk to Trop, MGM, and NYNY.
    Bus stop across street.
Ride share/taxi location is easy to find.

    Fun older game selection.

I highly recommend reserving the room type/location you want and using mobile check-in to avoid the ridiculously long lines. If the room is truly UNacceptable, call the front desk from room. They can move you & assign a new room and key without schlepping to the front desk.

For being dubbed the “Trashy Castle”, they must be doing some things right. It always seems busy here.

Rooms are average. It’s not a luxury resort. It’s on par with a Holiday Inn but not quite as nice as a Hilton Garden Inn.

Thank you all for the replies and suggestions. I so appreciate it. This is why I love this board.:woot:

Hubs and I are low rollers, not big pool people, especially in late Sept. or Oct. and if the weather should dictate, paying 10.00 for the adult pool will be fine.

Food wise, we are not high end diners. We like Ellis Island. LOL And even Denny's. :feedme: How sad is that? LOL And since both of us are on low sodium diets, god knows what or where we will be eating. LOL:hmmm:

Nice to know the rooms are fine. As long as I can sleep on a comfy bed, and the room is clean, we will be okay. I would love to be able to stay at a little bit better property, but I also want more money to play those pesky slots. LOL Since I still have comps, then it looks like this is the place.

I also like theme resorts. Okay, I'm a kid at heart. :jester:

I will take the advice of others on here and do check in via a kiosk. Makes sense to avoid a long line.

    UPDATE: THIS IS CRAZY
So, immediately after reading responses here, I went online to book Excalibur. The minute I hit "book" the rates changed. I started out with 4 comped nights, and then bam, no comped nights. So I logged out, logged back in, and the same thing. Only the second time, I had a hard time getting the website to cooperate. LOL Since our dates are flexible, I checked other dates and no comps. And the comps were there like 3 minutes after I got off of here.

So, then I logged out again, logged back in, and checked Luxor. Low and behold, it showed 2 nights comped and 2 nights for 13.00. LOL Even I will pay $13.00 a night for a room. The room I got was for a newly remodeled Pyramid King room. Looks really nice. I was able to book it without any problems this time. Whew!!! And I must have just booked this under the wire, because just for kicks, I logged out, waited a couple of minutes, logged back in, and yes, comps were gone.:hmmm:

While I was doing this, I also was on hold for reservations, just in case I actually got to speak to a human. Their reservation system said wait times were longer than 30 minutes. Once I received the e-mail confirmation, I hung up. LOL Can y'all tell, I have way too much time on my hands.

Luxor it is. Now I am excited. :lock:

I would suggest anyone checking comps or rates for rooms, the minute you see you have comps or like the room rate, better book it. Had I booked a week ago, I would have had more hotels to choose from. A week ago, Luxor gave me 3 nights comped. LOL That will teach me to wait. We are going Sept. 6-10th.

Now, I need to know about Luxor. Likes, dislikes, etc. Anything anyone can tell me, will be appreciated.

if you happen to play the myvegas app games, you should be able to use the $25 and $50 casino freeplay rewards since 2 of your nights are at a reduced rate and not comped...not sure if it will work but it is worth a shot

OMG, thank you for this information. I had totally forgotten about the rewards for free play. And I do play the game, just haven't played it a whole lot, during this pandemic. LOL

I have like a million LP's to use, so hopefully the free play will work. :woot:

The first time you look at your offers, find the offer code, read the fine print & take a screen cap or photo with your phone.
If the offer "disappears", book whatever is available to book online.
After you get the email confirmation - call and talk with an agent!
Ask about the better/specific offer code that vanished.
Maybe you can switch to the better offer.
    Doesn't hurt to ask.

I spent a LOT of time working with restaurants in advance on some low-sodium meals for my wife for our trip last week. If you will have a car (none are anywhere near the Strip) I will be happy to share what I found.
