Where my Bingo folks at?

I have never even THOUGHT about playing Bingo in LV before. But I’m suddenly curious in it being entertaining.

As someone that likes a chill morning to recover from a night of poor decisions...talk me in or out of playing Bingo, specific to Jerry’s Nugget, Plaza, and Silver 7’s (if they do indeed offer it). How much does it cost to play? How long does a Bingo game last? Can I receive comped drinky drinks while I play it?

I tried bingo for the first time at the Plaza. If you don't have a plaza card you get some bingo specials when you sign up. Most people play with an electronic unit so it is very chill. You just sit there and the machine yells at you win you have bingo,. You can buy a huge amount of cards if you wish, but it seemed like a normal buy in was around $50-$80.

I didn't find it overly exciting but a good rest stop. Also 2 free drinks during the session. If you want more of a frenzy you can buy the actual paper cards and use a stamper.

I don't have experience at the other locations.

 

Dying to try it, played at elementary schools, and it was super fun there. I can only imagine bingo with booze being 40x more fun!

 

This right here. I’m hoping to get some positive feedback from the pros here. I would love to be able to buy in for like $8 and play Bingo for 45 minutes and throw down 2-3 beverages

 

A friend played casino bingo, probably five years ago, and I believe it cost twenty bucks to play. He didn't mention anything about comped drinks and I didn't ask. I would be surprised if they let you play for eight bucks and comp you multiple drinks, but who knows. @Flowers just played in a bingo tournament, so perhaps she knows. And my memory may be foggy, but I think @notfromconcentrate wrote about casino bingo in one of his reports a couple years ago

 

I have no specific experience at any of your mentioned casinos. I have played bingo in past trips at Red Rock, Palace Station, and South Point. It's a fun, relaxing, and cheap way to spend an hour. 2017 was the last time I played, and you could buy in as low as $4 per session. I don't play video, I play only on paper. At Stations, they would come around twice per session and provide free drinks. I don't recall the service at South Point.

 

Of the three you mentioned, I have only played at Plaza. Both "regular" bingo and their Super Bingo tournament. I'm in my 20s and was noticeably either the youngest person, or among the youngest people there, if that makes a difference.

To answer each of your questions directly...

How much does it cost to play?

World's most hated answer... but "it depends" in short, you can get in on a game for under $20 in most places (and I have seen places with sub-$10 entry options). But you can buy-in for much more than that and easily be near or at $100 in no time. I'm not enough of an expert in bingo to know the terminology... but there are different colour-coded card categories, and depending on which pack you buy you'll get a combination of colours. There are also variations such as "dual daub" and various other things. It doesn't matter much that I don't know what this means for a reason you'll see in a second. But essentially the more you buy in for, the better your odds of winning... since you're actually playing against everybody else in the room, and the more chances you have to win (i.e., cards) out of that group, the more likely you are to win in a given round.

How long does a bingo game last?

Semantics... but a bingo game usually lasts a few minutes. A bingo session (which consists of several games) typically lasts an hour, though there are two-hour sessions as well.

Comped drinks

At the Plaza, a regular buy-in at bingo gets you two free drink vouchers... which you take up to the bar cart and redeem for your drink(s) of choice (though this was pre-pandemic, I don't know if that has changed recently). I have also played at Palace Station and Riverside in Laughlin, where they had servers who came around and took your order... no different from playing at a table or machine, all comped. For what it's worth, Super Bingo at Plaza had an open bar for the entire gameplay duration (morning and afternoon). But again, pre-pandemic... no clue if that's changed. I do recall joking to one of my non-gambler friends that the $139 entry fee for two days could pay for itself in open bar alone, plus a chance at the many prizes.

Having a good time

It's pretty hard to not have a good time playing casino bingo, in my opinion. It's very different from bingo you might have played in school or at camp... not just because you'll be playing with more than one card, but also because in most bingo rooms you have the option of playing with a machine that marks the cards for you. Some people prefer to play with paper cards that they manually mark with a dauber. But I much prefer to rely on the electronic terminal. Not only does it mark numbers as they're called, it will prioritize which cards of yours are closest to hitting bingo based on how many numbers remain. If you choose this option, you can pretty much do whatever you want without having to pay much attention... just as long as you'll be able to pick up on when your machine lights up and plays noises when you hit bingo, at which point it's your responsibility to shout BINGO! to the caller. At Super Bingo I made friends with my neighbours and we just chatted most of the time... probably 25% of our attention was on the game and our respective terminals, and the rest was on each other. Even if you don't win anything... the energy of a bingo room is enjoyable (to me, at least) and can be the best part of the whole thing.

The only thing I'll say is that if you're doing this as a "hangover activity" (assuming that's what you meant by a night of poor decisions), this isn't the #1 thing I'd choose, only because you do need to be paying enough attention to call bingo if it hits for you. This sounds and is trivially easy. But if you end up passing out or spacing out and miss it, you're out of luck.

It's worth trying at least once, if you ask me. It's hard to go wrong with one attempt at it

 

I love Bingo. I used to play it at Red Rock at least once or twice a month when I lived in Vegas. I believe it was $4 or $5 per card. I usually only played two cards and I liked using the old-fashioned dauber and paper card rather than the machine. You got two free drinks per session and each season lasted about an hour. It's totally fun but chill. I never won, but I had several friends I went with who did. I am hoping to play bingo again in June or August.

 

Do they give you a tax form if you win a decent sum?

Very honestly, since players often have several dozen cards at a time, having only one card makes your chances of winning extremely slim. I think you’d get much better value out of buying a bundle in the $30ish range or higher than just going for the lowest buy-in option.

I’m no expert at all though, so I’ll defer to any “real” bingo players who will be able to make a more qualified recommendation.

 

We have played at most bingo rooms in Las Vegas, our favorites are Santa Fe Station, Jerry's Nugget, Rampart, Cannery, Arizona Charlies Decatur, Boulder Station, all Station and Boyd Rooms are basically the same and may have different rules and games offered, some have smoke free rooms and some are paper only Sunset Station and Aliante are paper only and if I remember Aliante is also smoke free.2 drinks is the usual for free drinks and some have free donuts at the morning games, we usually go at night. Our cost is in the $60.00 to $80.00 range, but our motto is win big or go home. You should be able to play in the $20.00 range but realistically $40.00 + will be a better amount to figure if you want a better chance to win , most games last over a hour. Jerry's Nugget is the most laid back bingo room, Stations are the nicest and have a separate room for smokers and great snack bars. We use to really like the Plaza's bingo but last Nov it was a near full and we prefer a less crowded room also it seemed that they had gotten a little hire in there prices so it has fallen off are list of rooms to hit, Silver 7's I believe quit bingo at least they did not have it last Nov, Jerry's Nugget is the most laid back and fun on your list. Also we always play with the machines it helps us concentrate on our drinking and smoking without missing a bingo we have been in several tournaments and won over $1200.00 a couple of times with $1600.00 being the high a never got a W-2.

 

Hey Carlos if you look back at are NOV TR were on a mission from god the wife did a pretty good job of getting pics and details about the 5 or 6 bingo rooms we hit that trip.

As of a few months ago plaza had moved their bingo to a large conference center. Because of covid. Very spread out. Not sure if that is still the case.

 

I have always gotten a W2G on my wins of $1200 or more. And as far as cost, you can stop by the bingo room and pick up little flyers or ask the workers at the desk about that. They are all very helpful, and will explain what you will play/what it costs.

 

kkinwi wondering which bingo halls gave you the W - 2's all of our big wins came at Stations and one was at LVH when they had bingo also one was at the Silverton when they had bingo. Thanks Mr.Vegas.

 

I've never played Bingo. My mum used to play six cards at a time when she played. This was in the UK, but she said that playing a full sheet made sure that you had every number and it was easier to follow. I believe bingo in the USA is similar, but with a different shaped card.

 

My W-2's were all from WI locals. But when I have played in Vegas at Sam's or the Plaza, the whole game stops while they verify and then paperwork is signed by the winner for large wins. I certainly thought it was for W2Gs, but have not gotten one there myself.

 

I wish I would have found Bingo on my first many trips to Vegas. Started playing about 5 years ago and love it. We play at least one session each trip, usually try for one per day. I am no expert and have never won big, but always have a blast and it is a nice mid-day break. I always play electronic, so there is no thinking involved. I highly recommend trying it at least once.
