Not sure if I am doing you a service or a disservice if I tell you Cosmopolitan has a new Ultimate X game called Ultimate X Gold.

Uhhmm. Probably doing Cosmo a major service. Lol. If you get a chance can you send a pic? Unfortunately, even though I have no idea what the game entails I already KNOW it is my kind of game, and it wouldn't be bad to get a couple of comped nights with a balcony room there. :) I really enjoyed those rooms before being so wedded to Wynncore.

Some thoughts for the future if your mom in chair bound:
*Drive the Red Rock Canyon loop (sounds ike its already on your list)
*Drive through Valley of Fire. You can actually see a lot from the car
*Clark County Wetlands park. There is no elevation and, I think, several of the aths are paved. i have seen lots of wildlife there in the past. f you fly west to Vegas, you have probably seen/flown ovr the park on your plane's final approach to landing
*Paranghat Wildlife Range. Its a true oasis in the middle of the desert. Just take the road toward Great Basin National park and this oasis is about an hour to an hour and a half north of Vegas. There is a lake in the middle of the desert where you can pull over, get out of the car, watch the wildlie, and enjoy the breeze.

Zion will still be there next year. Enjoy this trip!!!

You get random multipliers on all dealt winning hands, that may correspond with your win, or may not. If not, it sits to where it is applied until you have that win. So you get dealt 2 Jacks and it may trigger a multiplier for future Aces. Royals don't have multipliers, they are straight 8000 credits.

This is an awesome list! Thank you! The second half of your list is completely new to me. I heard Great Basin is another amazing place for stargazing as well that is often overlooked.

Your pictures are wonderful. Do you remember what the seafood dish was at Lakeside (it has shrimp, lobster and crab, I think). It looks delish. My husband is a huge pineapple upside down cake fan and your pictures have me thinking I need to make a reservation at Lakeside. :) Thank you again for sharing your story and pictures. It's wonderful to read.

I have not been to great Basin, but have read that its good for stargazing and its one of the quietest places in the USA. For reasons I can't explain, that appeals to me!

Not to derail, but for those interested, here is the paranghat oasis I mentioned:

And here is the wetlands park:

It is called a Lobster Bake and it is a LOT of food. It really can easily feed two hungry people, especially if you get a side dish of veggies or have an appetizer. I hate wasting food but after eating the most expensive items in the dish lol (which is $98) I couldn't finish the rest. But it is a fantastic dish and even though it is a stew/bake, it clearly still has premium lobster and crab in it. I barely had to chew.

Next time I need to lay off the bread or enjoy the bread but skip an appetizer when I order it again, which I will.

The drawback to this game is strategy is VERY dependent on what the current distribution of multipliers currently is. Like if the flush multiplier is near 9X, you'll probably want to be very aggressive toward flush draws.

I personally wouldn't touch it for serious money without a little practice.

They have only been in Cosmo for a very small time frame. This is the first I've heard of any casino in the US having the game. It's only been available on videopoker.com for play money for a couple of months.

What a small world! I lived in WV for 6 years while going to school, and A & I met at WVU before moving to California together! Where in WV did your Mom grow up? Country Roads Take Me Home! :)

Pahranagat is kind of a long drive from Vegas. About 90 minutes one way. If you decide to go out there, I suggest going further to Caliente and visiting Kershaw-Ryan state park and Cathedral Gorge and make it a day trip. Kershaw-Ryan is a beautiful park for a picnic. There's a gorgeous trail there, but probably way too much for your mom, but she could absolutely get up to the garden to sit and enjoy the flowers and the fountain. (http://parks.nv.gov/parks/kershaw-ryan) Cathedral Gorge is one of my favorite places in rural Nevada. You can drive to the end of the road where there is a picnic area and a short walk to the features. Or stop before that near the Moon Caves to take a look. (http://parks.nv.gov/parks/cathedral-gorge)

Here's Dan in the Moon Caves:

He's in there, to the right. :)

My favorite day trip is to go to Valley of Fire and when you finish at the end of the park, just keep going and turn left at the junction onto 169. That will loop you out by Lake Mead and through some more beautiful red rocks. It turns to 167 somewhere in there and eventually puts you out in Henderson, south of The Strip. It's a great loop with lots of scenery and views to get out of the car for, but most of it is visible from the car.

Fear not Flowers. JR and I will provide VMB with all kinds of pics of Zion and Lake Powell when we break from Vegas in July for a couple days.

@Flowers I sure hope you’re doing better than I am ( but I always start out slow) - Buffalo & Black Jack not good. Doing Red 8 right now after my 3 Casamigo Repos. The hot & sour soup with Kung Pao always works Good luck tonight!
