Hey all. Heading to Vegas in a few weeks and was able to book a Skyview penthouse suite comped through my mlife offers. Outside of trying to get the primo view in the 2 wing looking down the strip, is there any other suite I should try to get a comp upgrade to when we check in? We're staying Sunday through Wednesday so not prime weekend time. I'd love one with a steam shower but not sure any of those suites are attainable without paying.

From what I can tell, media suites and reef suites etc are an upgrade but not sure by how much. From my understanding there's an elevator in the back of the high limit room that only goes to these top floors which will be nice, just can't picture where it's at right now in their casino.

    Thoughts?

Just stayed in a one bedroom sky view penthouse suite a few weeks ago.

Can’t answer your question about the upgrades.

As for the elevator, unless your room is nearby it at the end of the hallway it is in, it’s not going to save you any time. It’s kind of hidden in the back of the high limit room. Hard to find if you don’t know where it is.

My room was in the 200-wing and I found it was quicker/less walking to just take the normal elevators.

Well you can always ask for an upgrade. Never hurts. But the jump from the Skyview to what you’re looking for is pretty unrealistic for free. Let us know how it turns out.

The next suite up from that would be the Reef suite, which does have a steam shower. But an upgrade to that would likely require the desk person get approval. I was upgraded to that once, but it was because of an oversell situation and that was only after being downgraded my first night and even then they had to call to get an approval for the remaining nights. Never hurts to ask though.

I've stayed in a media suite, was literally a steal when I had my wedding at Mandalay Bay ($350/night ish). No special elevator, it's at the end of the hall at some of the higher floors. They are amazing suites if you are entertaining - we ended up hiring a bartender to serve in our room and had family there and it was amazing. :) Plus the room to watch football (we got married in December) was awesome.

I haven't been to MB since before the pandemic, is the Skyview the old X1 without the connecting bedroom? It looks like they renamed the X2 the "Panornamic Two Bedroom". Both are great rooms, and if you don't need the hospitality space, I wouldn't bother with the upgrade to the media suite.

As far as the penthouse floors go, besides the HL elevator which I never saw, they have their own set of (four I think) elevators apart from the main elevator banks.

I stayed in a Skyview about 10 years ago for 4 or 5 nights and never had anybody on an elevator with me even once.

Are these ones right in the same area as the main elevators?

In the same general area. But it's a smaller elevator lobby and at that time at least, there was no signage for it. I went into the main elevator area and couldn't find any marked for the 62nd floor and had to ask someone.

This is how I remember it. VIP services checkin may have moved or not exist anymore, but everything else should be in the same places:

    So regarding the penthouse elevators:

The diagram above is correct as far as the location, but it's not quite correct as far as the lobbies being totally separate.

The penthouse elevator lobby is actually connected to the main elevator lobby, but they have doors they can use to shut it off. They must have had them closed off last time I was there, that's why I thought it was totally separate. There is signage above the entrance from the main elevator lobby. So that would be if you were entering from the left side in the diagram.

If you're entering from the right side, that would be the "secret unmarked" entrance I originally referred to. They now have it marked on that side as "Foundation Room"
There's 6 elevators in that penthouse elevator lobby. When Foundation Room is open, they block off the two elevators closest to that entrance, for Foundation Room access only.

So during the day, you can access all 6 elevators by entering from either side. When Foundation Room is open, you can only access 4, by entering from the main elevator lobby.

Reef Suites (and other Penthouse Suites) for this reason are great. If you have a host, make sure you get coded to the Penthouse Lounge if you upgrade.

Hi All, headed to MB next week and currently booked in on the penthouse floor. Does anyone know if the penthouse lounge is currently open? I noticed many of the higher end restaurants at MB are still closed and looking at dining options for the trip. It would be nice to know if the penthouse lounge is open for breakfast/lunch options.

As to the penthouse/vip lounge up top - for years it has only been open on weekends. Not sure if that is still true. so, for Sun-Wed it is a no go. Nor do I know if it is even open thee days.

I never saw it open while I was there last week, but I only walked past it a couple of times when it might possibly have been open.
