Oh, by the way, someone in this thread wanted to know about if and when Binion’s steak house would re open. I asked two different food service people what they knew about it, and they both gave the same response....”No one has told us anything yet”.

Ok, for our last day we will take care of some cash transactions.

We need to play through $400 of free play and withdraw $400 in cash back. Another cool thing about the 4Q is the cash back you earn is true cash. You don’t have to play it at all. Just request what you want.

I’ll make another point here. The 4Q has a policy like most casinos where your cash and comps in your account are kept intact so long as you add at least one point on your card at least once every 12 months (some places are once every six months). I’ve been the type of person who likes to have a little money in the casino ‘bank’, and since I go to Vegas several times a year, I thought my money was always safe. And then COVID happened. Our last trip was a year ago last January. I was definitely going to miss the 12 month limitation on my account activity. Well, the 4Q and several other casino operators were not going to penalize people when they couldn’t travel to Vegas. So they extended their expiration dates. But I learned my lesson. You could get hurt or sick or have something occur that could keep you from going for more than a year, and then you would lose out on the cash or free play. From now on, use it or lose it will be my policy.

COVID definitely made me think twice
    about hoarding points and comps.
    Lesson learned.

Ok, cashed out $367 from the $400 in FP. Not too bad. 68046FF0-1ACC-4C27-A775-C9C03F4CAF8D.jpeg
After that, it was time to get down to playing
    Here are some highlights.

Ok, no more four card Royal pics. They happen far too often and are not that enjoyable.

For dinner tonight I had an open face turkey and dressing dinner at Magnolias. It was delicious. Ok, that’s it for the day. Tomorrow is a travel home day. I’ll put an update on about points and dollars tomorrow or Sat.

I’ll finish with some pictures of Circa I took today. It is a beautiful place to visit. If you stay downtown you really need to check it out.

Another note about the 4Q. Everyone who checks into the hotel gets a coupon book. It contain three 2 for one entrees at their resturant, and you can still use your comp points to pay for the other. They do have specials that the coupon isn’t valid for. But if you pay the full price for the item, you can use your coupon.

the book also contains a coupon for a free gift after earning 500 points. You can get a baseball cap or a T-shirt. Already had the ball cap, so I took the T-shirt.

Re: claiming the Southwest Boarding Pass $25 Match Play at The D.... Do you know if this needs to be done within 24 hours of arrival?

I had always heard that, but to be fair, I always stay there first when we come into town, so I always get it done right away. And it is $50 in match play per person, and $25 per person for mentioning the name ‘Richard Wilk’.

Ok, some final thoughts and numbers from out first trip in 15 months.

It was fun to play again, and I have to say, downtown seemed very busy again. I know both places we played at were doing very good business. Masks were in use everywhere and most people were using them correctly. I will say I was tired of the hassle of mask wearing all day long. Got tired of constantly feeling my own hot breath on my face, but I understand it and it will probably be a while before masks will no longer be required.

I play at a bar at the D, but I play on the floor at the 4Q and drink service was acceptable. I never had to wait more than around 20 - 25 minutes for a waitress. There was almost always a wait for dining at Magnolias every time we showed up, but we never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. However, we were not in Vegas on a Friday or Saturday.

If you go downtown, check out Circa. It is quite the site to see.

Between the two steak houses we ate at, Hugo’s and Andiamos, Hugo’s won easily. Especially if you are 55 or older with a slot card from 4Q for a 20% discount.

Now for some final numbers......preface this with saying my wife and I always play on one player’s card

We put $6,440 on our card at the D in one day. That amount of play earned us $9 in comps, and $6 in free play. The bounce back this much action has generated has been three free room nights 7 days a week per two month period and $110 dining during the same period and $75 FP.

We put $19,464 on our card at the 4Q over three days. That amount of play earned us $121 in comps and $60 in cash back. The bounce back this much action has generated has been three free room nights 7 days a week (and you can extend that by paying a casino rate for each additional day). The offer may or may not include any dining money and $300 in FP. Also, most of 4Q offers usually have a way to earn additional FP.

My total free money collected for this trip were
$70. Free Flay from the D ($75 on offer)
$75. Winnings from $150 in match play at the D
$367. Free Play from the 4Q ($400 on offer)
$400 In cash back from 4Q
    ———-
$912. Total, although $400 was just cash money just sitting there.

We lost about $700 gambling the four days, so all in all, a decent trip.

In closing out this T.R. by saying thank all of you who do one of these after every trip. It is a little bit of an effort to try to get everything entered correctly with photos. And I don’t usually spend a lot of time reading trip reports, but I did read a lot of them just get my ‘fix’ in for Vegas while we were waiting for vaccines. I will be back on my usual five to six time a year schedule now, and thankful of it!

I hope I had added some insight, information, and entertainment for everyone who has followed along. If anyone has any questions about anything in here, ask in this thread or just shoot me a PM.

    Mike

Thanks for bringing us along. As I mentioned earlier, I'll be staying downtown for a change of pace the next trip and it might become a semi-permanent switch. Your TR was super informative and has me really excited for June!

Thanks for bringing us along. I’m thinking of diverting some play to QQQQ so this was a very interesting read.

Thanks for the reply back on the Southwest Boarding Pass and the bump up to $50. Wasn't planning on doing Downtown until Tuesday but am considering heading down Monday morning for a "claim and run" then back down on Tuesday per the original plan. Thanks again for the TR and intel.

Interesting report and comparison of the 2 casinos.
The D match play coupons beware of your phone as the boarding pass. The lady said it had to have a date. I had screen saved mostly the square “reader” for boarding. It had my name and other info but I cut off the date. She “allowed” me this one time. It showed the confirmation number and I showed her other info (email) with confirmation number and date so as to not make it seem so daring for her to gift me the chips.
She said go away. I did (with the chips) but just assumed it wasn’t a particularly good day behind the counter.

You are exactly right, bubbakitty. I actually wanted to print them off from my SWA app, but couldn’t figure out how to do it. So I said no problem, I’ll just show them my online boarding pass. Well, once you have completed a flight, the boarding pass is no longer accessible! I was able to show the girl my reservations and she ok’ed it, but in retrospect, get a screen print of the whole boarding pass if you don’t have a paper one. You don’t want to lose this on a ‘technicality’.
