Are there any credit union co-op ATMs that take deposits on the Strip or near Fremont?

I'm not aware of any ATMs on the Strip, co-op or otherwise, that take deposits. Those are pretty rare outside of banks (and certain airports, though I don't know who's making deposits at DFW).

Slightly-related PSA/reminder: if you need to make a withdrawal, there are AllPoint ATMs scattered throughout the Strip, which are fee-free for most banks, as opposed to the ridiculous fees that the casino ATMs charge. Pretty much any CVS or Walgreen's will have one, and there are a couple in Crystals, including one about 30 seconds from the Aria lobby.

The CVS near Park MGM has a federal credit union (USAA I think?) ATM. Can't say for sure if they take deposits though.

Agree, a downside is they give out 20s and you may need several transactions depending on how much dough you want.

True, I think the usual max is $400, the one in the Duane Reade at Harmon is $200. But any casino cage will do cash-for-cash and change you up to $50s or $100s.

Your Credit Union website should have a atm finder that will tell you what you need to know. I searched on mine and got this. Not sure if yours are the same. atm.jpg

I don't know this for a fact, but I bet those ATMs are in "employee only" areas of the casino based off the names (and the "Restricted Access").

I'm pretty sure there's some Bank of America and US Bank atms that take deposits. @BeeeJay has a few trip reports of him depositing at US Bank machines. Though admittedly I don't know where they are exactly.

They are western union windows. WU lets you send money to your bank account.

    Ah, I couldn't figure out "WU"...guessed Worker's credit Union.
Just checked my three CUs and one of them lists those WUs. The other two won't take deposits anywhere near the strip.

There are several different credit union associations and it's often hard to figure out where to go to withdraw for free.
Depositing cash can be even more complicated because you may need to find a branch that is open, and many of them are in restricted access areas as someone noted. If you need to deposit a check, hopefully your own credit union has a mobile app that can do that right on your own phone, but there is usually a limit, say, up to $2500 per check.

If you have at least a couple weeks before your trip, you may want to open another free checking account at a major bank. I do most of my personal banking at a cu but I also have a basic Capital one 360 account that I use just for vacation money with no fees at all. It will even reimburse me for the other bank's fee if I withdraw at another bank.

There's a Citi about ten minutes from the Strip; that's been my main bank for years, from back in my NY days, and any significant deposits or withdrawals I just go there for. And they're part of the AllPoint network so the ATM at Crystals is free.

Also, this is good advice generally -- I have a separate account just for vacation money so that I'm not dipping into my regular accounts.

I have found a few ATMs in the business part of downtown with fees of about $2.50. I know its not free, but its also not $10 a pull.

If I am already doing a money grab, to me that means another $2.50 is my personal penalty.

I use the US Bank ATM inside the grocery store at Smith Foods, I used to use the closer outdoor one at US Bank on Flamingo just up a mile or so from Bally's but it seemed less safe than being inside the grocery store when depositing huge sums of cash.

For withdrawals, the airport Wells Fargo ATM's have a lower fee than the casinos and give out $50's by request rather than the standard $20's.

It does not take deposits, but it's an AllPoint ATM so no fees. Just as an additional note, the casinos will readily do cash-for-cash to change you up to $50s or $100s, but most of them will only do a total of about $500 at a time.
This is definitely the most fascinating sentence I've seen on the internet today :D

ETA, it's an AllPoint ATM so no fees if you're within the AllPoint network. I think most major banks and credit unions are, but can't guarantee. Either way, it's far preferable to a casino ATM.
