I went to Ellis Island thinking of the great steak meal there. I brought along coupons from the 2020 American Casino Guide and they honored the match play and the free play. No free T shirts, however.
The place has certainly been remodeled since my last visit.
I was sorry to see that full pay VP is not available in quarters.
However, there were single zero roulette machines and I used those to play for freeplay and then to play off the freeplay. Single zero is not that different in house advantage from 7/5 Bonus Poker, and there is no chance of making errors.
I play a low volatility pattern of a dollar on black and a dollar on the third column which is mostly red. I won enough to cover my loss of the $10 craps matchplay.
At craps I actually got to roll. I rolled 10. I did not put on the free odds, which was a mistake, but it helped when two rolls later I sevened out.
There was a 40 minute wait at the cafe, but if I went in the lounge I could be seated immediately. What was a karaoke bar is now a place for restaurant overflow and it was fine.
However, the old 24 hour steak special is no longer served 24 hours.
The breakfast special was steak and eggs for $6.99, reduced from 11.99 and I was lucky to get in that time frame. Generally, I don't expect much in steak and eggs, but this sirloin strip was just as tender as any steak I have had.
I bring a bag with my own Benson's salt and garlic powder and Brother Bru Bru hot sauce for the potatoes. It was a fine meal.
I liked the feel of the place in its new form, but as is happening everywhere, quarter VP is being down graded. Too bad.

Thanks for that report. I didn't know the steak special now had reduced hours. We often go there for the ribs, but actually haven't been back since the pandemic so we have yet to see the new open air area which I hear is nice although, from pics, it appears it is next to the street. I guess the music will be loud enough to not hear the traffic.

Yeah Dewey, it's not the same Ellis Island as when all of us met there some years ago. Glad you got a decent steak.

Karaoke at EI was absolutely insane. Sad to see it gone.

That area was closed as well in the morning. I think I read it opened at 4PM

I know how much karaoke lovers love it, but I remember how annoying it seemed to be enjoying a nice steak and hearing offkey notes from drunken voices in the next room. I like it better as a cafe overflow room. Save me a 40 minute wait.

Is the dice table open all day or just in the afternoon/evening? Thanks.

Thanks Dewey, was the craps table $5 minimum? I see on the website that Ellis Island offers $5 Blackjack and that craps is 10x odds.

I had the ribs there on my last visit, they were great, a short walk from Bally's. Plus, I won about $600 on the Dragon Link machine.

Looking to see Ellis next week never been there, but if they have $5 craps I'm in, what is the minimum on 3:2 BJ, as far as the slots go how big of an area is it, what would you compare it to. We went to terribles years ago, that was an experience.

    I think it's $10 for 3/2.

They have one $5 dollar table 3/2 6 or 8 deck can not recall. Two $10 3/2 tables. Hard to beat the $6.99 steak and eggs I have it at least once a week.

The craps was $5 on Monday afternoon 3/22, I went over there to play myself as the rest of my group flew out in the morning

It was probably 10 years ago, maybe more, I went to elllis island for the ‘secret off the menu steak dinner’. I thought it was a big secret but when I got there I saw signs for it on the wall and on the placemats and on the tables everywhere! Thought that was pretty funny. Steak was ok to good, somewhere in that range..

In February we played nickel craps at 11 am.

Will be checking in again in about a month.

It's usually $5 at their tables. I heard it was $10 last weekend on both tables with a line waiting to play.

Was there Thursday and the place was completely packed.

No seats at the bar, table games all packed, had to park on the 2nd floor in the garage (first time ever having to do so) and there was a hour and a half wait for the BBQ restaurant.

I just saw in a YouTube blogger video today (Bob Dingo) that was filmed at their Village Pub that Ellis Island has pulled out the taco stand and it's supposed to be replaced with a hot dog place.
