Told her I wanted something bigger that I wouldn’t feel cramped working in. She said “I found something you’re going to be happy with...”

On Friday, we gave the $20 sandwich, and the agent changed our Ultra Hip Premium to a small suite, room #1079, with a pool view. I can't figure out the name of the room. It was an end-of-hallway, pool view with a king size bed, a rather large bathroom with a tub that also had a pool view. Glad we did it.

Sounds like Ultra Resort Vista maybe which is a pretty reasonable upgrade to expect for a $20 bribe. It's 2 steps up from base room, and next step up is a significant one to a legitimate suite.

When I checked into PH, a couple of weeks ago, it looked liked they just had kiosks for check in, for everyone below Diamond, They did have an individual around the kiosks if you had any problems, but I'm not sure how well the $20 trick will work there these days. Also, FYI, the Diamond check in room is closed, but they had one person stuck in the corner to handle Diamond and 7 star check in. I didn't even realize they were a PH check in person, since they had a big Budget rental sign behind them.

Yeah.. same with me. Interesting that the Diamond room was closed, but they were hidden in the corner behind some sign.

Last Thursday they were on the far right, but not actually up in the Budget counter.

Nice... The guy I needed to get the keys from when I extended was actually at the Budget counter. I’m lucky I walked up and asked because I stood in the diamond line for a few minutes and he wasn’t very willing to announce that he could help. But in the end, it all worked out.

They told me that the space used to be for Budget Car Rental. Apparently the rental place left, but for some reason, they kept the sign up. I guess, that way, they would have fewer people actually making them work. Also, I can see El Diablo announcing, "based upon usage it is clear that our Diamond/7 Star customers clearly prefer the kiosks, therefore to enhance their experience, we will be directing them in future to solely to use them"!

What tier are you? I am heading out there next Tuesday. I am currently in an Ultra Hip Room. I am only platinum and would like to do the sandwich at check in, but I am not sure if I have to do the Kiosk or if I can talk to someone at the front desk. I am taking my GF there for 5 days and was thinking of doing $50. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

We're Diamond Elite, so we were able to go to an agent.

Sorry for the delay. they did have 2 people that were working along side of the kiosks. I was able to snag one and get a high floor with the fountain view.

    Great, thanks for the update.

How long did you have to wait? And do you just approach the person who is wandering around the kiosks or do you have the choice between going to the desk or just using the kiosk?

Did you tip them? That's kinda disappointing if you tipped $50!
