Does Cosmo value table play? - Bonus Q... better to hit Cosmo gold now, or next trip?

From reading the terms etc, is there ANY benefit to playing the tables at Cosmo? Any tier points awarded even? Seems like the program is even more slot focused than the usual casino, where results can vary.

I am nearing hitting gold but wanting to do tables instead of machines tonight. Speaking of, my largest Cosmo earn to date besides this trip was in October... should I come back in September and then hit gold, or go ahead and push for it now? Nearing the end of the trip, so won't use much of the current benefits... but won't have the no resort fee thing or companion room settled until next trip if I wait, obviously.

If you are going to play table games at a higher-end Strip property, I strongly recommend Wynncore. My pound-for-pound champ for table players.

Don't expect anything by way of comps or tier progression from table play at Cosmo unless your play is high enough to warrant being a hosted player. (Your table play at Cosmo is not big enough to warrant being hosted.)

You are correct in your assessment that Cosmo favors slot players the absolute most. If the vast majority of your play is on slots and you play slots at a higher volume per gaming day, Cosmo is your best value if you are Identity Sterling or above. Just look me up here on VMB for my comparison of Wynn Rewards to the other major programs on the Strip.

Cosmo Identity rewards is definitely geared towards slot players.

I haven’t played at Cosmo in over two years, but when I did I was exclusively a table player (blackjack), and was Platinum for two or three years in a row. I asked my host and maybe someone on the VIP hotline a few questions about how table players are given tiers. They told me that there is a committee that meets monthly to review table play and tiers (not sure how it works).

I think I earned platinum after my first two, maybe three trips, but my Theo was probably $10k to $20k per trip.

I moved my play from Cosmo when they cancelled my credit line because I wasn’t giving them four hours of play per day. I was playing maybe an hour or two per day, at high avg bets. So my Theo was high, but they didn’t like I was a hit and run player on a credit line. If I was a losing player, I’m sure it wouldn’t have been an issue.

I am sure glad I saw this. We play about 90% blackjack and 10% VP. I will be sure not to waste my time playing BJ at The Cosmo. Cancelling your credit line is a crock of shit. I would never step foot in there again. I mean how much work is it for them to keep your line open and get your action,

Following up on my bonus question - when is the best time to hit gold? Unless there's a sticky...
I appreciate Dai Lun and someone else on this forum telling me to use my free Sterling night before I hit gold. Wondering how/when I should make my trip to earn gold and have it for the longest or the best amount of time?

I earned 1100 points July 2020, 6700 points October 2020, and about 10k points March 2021. Sitting at 16k total now. I suppose I'm not too worried about the 1100 points from July??

So you need 4,000 more tier points

That will cost you $10,000 coin-in. You also get 5 tier points for every $1 of base charges on your hotel bill - if you have charges you're going to pay, you can calculate how many tier points you'll get from that and reduce the amount of coin-in by $2.50 per point.

Whether it's better to hit Gold now or later depends on whether you know what your trip schedule will be into the future.

In general, I'd say there's no reason to wait, but if you can foresee some reason you won't be able to make as many trips in the next 365 days as you have in the past 365, then there could be a reason to push it off.

Like if you knew for sure you'd only be able to go again once between now and September, and next winter and spring were looking iffy.

Maintaining Gold is $50,000 coin in a year, minus tier points for room charges. So if you have enough visibility into the next year to know you'll probably do that much, no reason to wait.

@vegasmeister described Cosmo's process for evaluating table play for tier purposes. I can't tell whether for someone like me they consider some decent amount of table play incrementally equal to $X amount of coin-in for purposes of pushing someone into a higher tier level. Or whether they just focus on bigger tables-only players and decide what tier to put them in. Ie. It's a black box to me so I don't play tables at Cosmo except for single big drive-by bets when I'm ahead.

Think of what would be involved with all of the slot-mostly players who maybe spend a few hours a trip playing craps. Are they reviewing every single one of those accounts to figure out whether the craps play put them over a tier level? I doubt it.

I am going through your postings. Was it a thread you created or was it in a thread you were posting in. Curious your thoughts since I enjoy Table games a lot and never knew Wynncore was that good to Table Players. Though I admit, I hardly ever make it that far north on the Strip.

IMHO, the safest way is to buy your way in.

    1)You don't need to gamble
2)You keep whatever you need to spend in the VERY fine dining establishments
3)Takes all of the pressure off
4)You get to accurately determine when you make level to maximize your use of it.

Example, I bought my way "close" to Gold this past trip. I will not fully make it until April or May. This is because I want to use some of the perks in June and have the whole 365 day calendar ahead of me.

I believe this is the post Julian is referring to. Excellent and VERY detailed description of the new Wynncore Red Card system - Thanks for posting it Julian!

I love the Cosmo and most frequently stay there. But as a table games player (mostly craps and some blackjack), my corporate offers were significantly weaker than MLife and CET (though better than Wynncore) at low stakes, and I always felt that the Identity program/rewards were geared toward slots players. I am now playing at a level where I have a host, and I feel I am treated well and fairly.

Compared to other Strip casinos, I actually played more table games at Cosmo.
Unlike slots or VP, most tables have the same rules at different casinos,
might as well play at a nice place with good drink service, good people watching.

I 100% agree with the above quoted post. I find with Cosmo, it DOES matter whether you win or lose. And yes, as a table player, there are no points earned and your tier status is determined by your host/committee. So it is opinion based rather than something that is measured. Also this 4 hours of play per day is like gospel to them. Even at 3.5 hours a day, they still regard that as "not being 4 hours" so no soup for you.
