I’m heading down in a couple weeks and looking to saddle up to a bartop with a not too nasty VP selection. Any favorites or tips?

Also, what’s the best site for matching strategy to the specific payout you see at a machine?

Four queens and el Cortez have the most.

If you want full pay bartop, I believe your only choices are the VUE bar on the second floor at the ‘D’. 8/5 Bonus Poker with progressives on the royal flush, straight flush, and the 5-K 4ok. Then there is the Furnace bar at the Downtown Grand. It has 8/5 Bonus Poker (no progressive). Then a couple of bars at the Plaza have full pay Jack or better (9/6). These are all quarter games. Then three bars at the 4QQQQ has 99.98% Double Double Bonus for 50 cent and Dollars.

Unless I have missed something, these are the only bartops that have full pay VP.
P.S. Main Street Station has full pay JOB, but it is still closed.

As far as strategy goes, I use Winpoker on my phone. It will calculate the return of almost any game. And you can put in any 5 card VP hand and it will tell you the correct hold.

Make sure to check out the progressives at the VP bar at QQQQ!

Is every bar top vp game separated with plexi glass or every other?
    Are drinks still comped?

This depends on the casino. For example, the VUE Bar at the D has every other machine on. The bars at QQQQ have all machines on with each machine separated with plexiglass.

    Yes.

When I've played HL VP at Cosmo, they've allowed me to use a printout of this guidance from WoO. I show it to a floor manager and ask at the beginning of every stay, just in case they've changed their rules. They've always said it's OK because, of course, even with perfect play, the house still has its edge.

Anyone know if this "cheat sheet" is allowed in downtown hotels? Could I even use this hand analyzer on my phone, where I input my hand and get the optimal play? I might want to do that if I end up playing anything other than JoB (e.g., Mike's post above about 99.98% DDB at 4Q).

Im fairly certain that using any kind of electronic device to assist in a casino game is illegal, similar to using a counting device in blackjack. I don’t think you’re legally allowed to use your phone....however I’ve never heard of anybody told they couldn’t use something like you’re talking about for VP.

I have Winpoker on my phone and I use it several times a day to check the optimum hold of a particular hand. I’ve done this at several casinos and never had a problem. Or you could have access to a basic strategy sheet and lay it up on your video poker machine. I can’t believe ANY casino having a problem with that, just as people use a basic strategy card at a blackjack table. It is NOT Cheating.

Yes, it's technically illegal to use an electronic hand analyzer while playing. But in practice, I've also never heard of a single prosecution for using one.

    Paper strategy charts are legal.
