We strayed from Planet Hollywood and stayed there a couple of years ago when it showed up as a comp. The room was nice but seemed to have way too much furniture. Our room had a fridge and the ice machine was hidden so we were told to call the front desk and they would bring ice. As mjames mentioned the room is dark except by the window which is by the bathroom. Also if someone is using the shower and someone is on the other side of the mirror they can see the person in the shower. We enjoyed our stayed there and really enjoyed the coffee stations which I hear have been removed and would stay again on a comp.

I stayed years back when it was Barbary Coast and never got a worse night's sleep with all the cars honking and sirens going down Flamingo Road.

Hey! Me too! I will be there starting Thursday. It will be my first time there, and really only picked it to try it out, but to be fair Parisian Courtesan is totally my vibe! :p

Cromwell was a mixed bag for me. On one hand, I like the boutique hotel feel, the ease of getting to the strip and that the decor is different from the typical strip hotel. I liked the little vanity area where I could do my makeup and the shower was awesome. That said, the shower is also see through, which is fine if you’re traveling with a partner, but not so much with a friend. It also wasn’t great when room service arrived while I was showering and he could likely see everything (but I’m sure he’s seem more than that doing Room service for a Vegas hotel!).

I did not like the room service options (I’m a room service girl), and the room was very dark. Basically I want to like Cromwell more than I do, but would not be opposed to staying there again if the price was right.

Their gambling is some of the best on the Strip. Unfortunately, the rooms are a mixed bag (and definitely small), the pool is dicey because of the whole dayclub scene, and dining is extremely limited, though can of course go next door or across the street.

As an aside, I am exhausted just hearing "10am-4am day long benders".

Never stayed there but their casino is small. Seems like the last few times I’ve went they were IDing people at the door which is obnoxious. I usually pass and rather not gamble there.

It's a boutique hotel experience rather than a full-service resort hotel experience. I think you have to adjust expectations accordingly. The rooftop pool looks fun to me, but by and large I'm more of a full-service-resort kind of visitor these days.

I'm curious though: what drives the high rates? Is it the dayclub/nightclub crowd?

I don't think I've ever seen any casino in LV IDing people to enter.

My last Cromwell stay in February, I could hear in my room the guy playing the saxophone on the nearby pedestrian bridge.

maybe checking room key then? It was right at the door on Las Vegas blvd and saw them stopping people to show something before entering the casino. I didn’t look too hard to find out, just decided to pass rather deal with nonsense.

Maybe, have seen that sometimes at some locations. Always seems very inconsistent. Now that you mention it they were also doing bag/purse checks for awhile at some locations like PH when the violence issues were heated up.

Cromwell has transitioned to a 21+ only property - so likely why they were checking IDs.

What purpose is realized by being a 21+ only property? How does that help the property? All casinos are 21+ because of alcohol but why the property? Kids are already rarely seen in hotels of this caliber as families would rather be at other properties such as Flamingo or Excalibur.

Response to Circa opening as AO. Like you say they were likely already mostly AO so zero cost.

Perhaps. Downtown attracts a larger young parent crowd that presents with a lot more baby strollers being pushed around. I can see Circa not wanting them on property. But, the Strip just doesn't have that many minors loitering about either with or without parents.

I think nightlife/dayclub is part of the story, but primarily it's:
    (1) quick & easy access to center strip and center of the CET world. CP is right across the bridge, Flamingo is next door, and Bally's is across the street. Location can't be beat, especially for CET loyalists.
    (2) Very limited number of rooms. This is key because it results in much less of a zoo than a 3000 room hotel. Some of the check-in lines and elevator lines I've been seeing around the strip the past few days are awful, and the 4-person elevator rule is exacerbating the issue. Cromwell doesn't have these issues. You rarely wait to check in, and you rarely wait for an elevator.

    (3) While the rooms have some nice details, I don't think the rooms are driving the price. The furniture/theme is nice, but the standard room is a bit dark, cramped, and has no desk.

I wish! But to be fair, I go most often on holidays, and I'm used to seeing kids constantly in places that make little or no sense. I can see how Cromwell, being basically a single lane front to back and with room elevators in the middle, might benefit from that - in fact when I was there in November (again, holiday weekend), when I went to Giada, I had to stop and wait for a family of 11....yes 11, 8 kids and 3 adults, get on the escalator to the restaurant. At the top? They did a 180 and rode back down. They were just taking an escalator ride. There was one stroller involved. But I do think it's mostly keeping up with the Jones with Park MGM and Circa being 21+ and CZR figuring "yah we got one too, lookit us! Nobody ever brings kids anyway!"

Last stay at Rio I saw a couple take a stroller onto the escalator by the Masquerade Tower. From the top of the escalator the stroller went tumbling down with the kid in it and the father jumping down the escalator trying to catch and stop anymore damage to their child. He didn't catch it until the bottom. I was walking the other way from the top and there was a crowd at the bottom so I didn't think my presence would be of help, so I don't know what the final result was. There's an elevator option behind the escalator.

Fridge - I have stayed there a few times and each time the fridge had a bunch of drinks i just moved over to make space for my drinks and never had an issue. They were not on that fridge sensor system most other places have but maybe that has changed?
