Well I've decided to book a two week trip may 30 to June 11, I've been to Vegas several 4-5 day trips (coming from Canada) and have done two hotels in 5 nights so there's variety and feel like I got the most out of my vacation, but I'm really not sure how to approach the 13 day trip.

I'm really open to suggestions but I was thinking 3 nights Mandalay Bay (2 of which are myvegas comps) then 2 at cosmo in one bedroom fountain facing, then the remainder at plaza (I'm a down town guy)

The thinking I'm usually in relax mode the first couple days (after getting completely blitzed the first night) pools of Mandalay and cosmo to scratch that itch, then settle into my downtown grinding pattern

I've also thought screw the changing hotels and just book the entire time someplace but it wouldn't be on strip but that's also okay.

So any suggestions? And if I do the whole time at an off strip place any suggestions for that? Gold coast maybe? Maybe entire time at the plaza but pay admission to cosmo pool? I would probably do that even if I did stay first nights on strip so I dunno, any inspiration?

We're off-Strip fans, but way off: M, GVR, JW Marriott, RRR, Suncoast, SouthPoint -- all of which deliver larger-than-standard rooms and the first four near or at the luxury level. That's a long stay for one place -- and I don't mind staying planted -- so maybe x days in your fave grind zone downtown then get out to the margins and chill a bit more. For us, Rio, Gold Coast, Palms, Palace Station are in no-man's land (and we have stayed at all).

Just a suggestion: if you're going to be there that long why not rent a car (unless you'll have your own) and see some of the national parks.

Will be doing this for one maybe two days, in the downtown segment.

This is an interesting idea, downtown then like RR or South point etc. I think I would have to do the "way off strip" last or else I. Think I might just want to head strip/downtown to join the party/"feel in Vegas" but then lay low at the end. Not the worst idea ..

IMHO, one of the biggest factors would be that it depends on how you and your S.O. are when it comes to picking up and moving every couple of days. BFF and I are fine with it, and that's why we spend so much time in different Asian countries, cities.

By comparison, a colleague of mine is what I like to call a "camper". He likes to go one place, and check in, and not check out until 2 weeks later, when it's time to go home.

If you don’t mind me asking, is this because of what on-strip accommodations tend to cost, especially on weekends?

If that’s so, I can relate as I tend to “hotel hop” on longer trips to not get stuck paying such rates. What I might recommend doing is going on Hotwire or Priceline and grabbing one hotel as your “home base” for the entire trip. Just did a search now for your dates and you can get one downtown for $950 CAD all-in for that entire time... I recognize the “actual room photo”, and that’s definitely at the Plaza.

Edited to add: Realized I searched for 12 nights not including the last date in your range... but I trust you get what I mean just the same.

Then, with that “home base” you’d have the freedom to book a night here and there at various hotels without the hassle of having to move everything. So perhaps on day 4 you might stay at the Cosmo (which would get you daytime pool access on your check-in day, and the next day too... so that’s two visits with no cover charge). Or on day 9 use your MyVegas comp at Mandalay, or Bellagio, or Aria, or wherever.

I think this could afford you some good flexibility to check these other hotels out without having to move everything around every time.

Two weeks in Vegas. Can not imagine me doing that. My ATM card would probably melt - LOL!

Okay... I would surely break it up. I think 6 days is the most we have done and is always at least 2 hotels - maybe three. Maybe when you leave the strip, head out to something more remote for a day before heading downtown and dropping the car. As someone else said, watch the weekends as rates can get crazy at some places.

We recently spent two weeks working from Vegas in February and took advantage of four comp nights at 3 locations and it worked out beautifully. We spent 4 nights at aria in a city view corner suite. Cosmo matched our aria offer so we spent the next four days in a terrace fountain view studio and wrapped up at our last 6 nights in a Luxor two bedroom premium suite (which is just basically the 1 bedroom suite with a connecting king room). Working in the 72 hour period between mlife properties allowed me take advantage of FP and FB offers at both properties. For the two weeks I had $450 in FP for each stay and anywhere from $200-400 in FB.

Definite thumbs up for the Gold Coast if you want off-strip. It has arguably the best Chinese restaurant in Vegas—Ping Pang Pong. It also features a good steakhouse—Cornerstone; a TGIF (breakfast, lunch or dinner) and a Noodle Bar (fast and very good), not to mention a Subway and a well-stocked gift/liquor store. The pool is passable, and won't be crowded.

Rooms are just ok, somewhat small, but do have a walk-in shower and it's fast to get from your room to the casino.

Lots of good VP, DDBJ, Pai Gow and a decent race and sports book. The free shuttle runs between GC, Orleans and the Fashion Show Mall. Taxi rides to the strip are quick and inexpensive. You can also walk across the street to the Rio, which used to be a hopping casino with a good poker room, though not sure now.

Orleans is also an option, though further away from the strip. They have everything GC has plus a movie theater.

I'm a widower (in my 40s) and I don't mind the act of schlepping my stuff around so that's a non issue.

For booking a week I got this from @westie. He and wife stay at The Grandview. It's a timeshare right next to South Point. You get a full one bedroom condo for about $700 for the week. The walk to South Point is about 3 minutes across the parking lot. I'll be there the first week of July. The second week of my trip will be at Strip and Downtown hotels.

I usually go for 2-3 weeks and I hotel hop. I begin to hate being in the same room every night by day 4.

If I did have to stay in one room off Strip the entire time and I had a car (hypothetically, I don't have a driver's license) I would probably look at an Air BnB.

Most of my recent trips are a week long, but I've done a number of 2-4 weeks trips in the past. I think we're all different on how we approach planning longer trips. Where I stay often depends on my comp offers and budget, so I sometimes move every 3-4 days based on those offers. Usually, it's a mix of off-strip (Orleans, GVR) and strip (mostly MLife and Wynn/Encore) properties. On a couple of trips, I didn't want to move, so I stayed at one property for my entire trip and just paid for the non-comped days. I also avoid staying downtown, due to the noise from Fremont St. at night.

I am a mover.....used to stay for 10 days right after I retired. I like a "new" atmosphere, and the act of packing up/moving/unpacking often resets my attitude as I look forward to some new opportunities in a different casino and hotel. I have had some great trips with new experiences this way.

Gold coast seems to have piqued my interest, but I'm a bit surprised at some of their rates for off strip, then again they're not that far off strip so maybe justified, I need a new hotel anyway...it makes the shortlist.

We have stayed 10 - 14 days in Vegas for the last few years over the Thanksgiving holiday, we will either drive to vegas or rent a car, every time we spend a couple of days on the strip and downtown also off strip, we like the off strip property's like Ellis Island, Santa Fe Station, M, Rampart, Jerry's Nugget, Poker Palace and the Cannery and the Skyline the last 2 have a laundry in the hotel, traveling the valley and checking out different casinos and bingo parlors is our favorite thing to do while in vegas, check out any of our Trip Reports from Mr. & Mrs. Vegas we have hit a lot of the casinos in the valley and reported on them.

I've done the moving every 2-3 days thing before to take advantage of room comps and I'd rather just not do that anymore just because I hate the pack, check out, most likely wait to check in, unpack routine. What I did like about it though, was the change or scenery and options.

But, if I was going to split up over a 2 week period, I would definitely end the trip at the nicer property instead of on the front end. Makes it feel like a different vacation all around and end on an up beat note since the room and pools are better there and easier to relax.

My trips are usually in the neighborhood of two weeks and I like to stay put and spend my entire time at one property. One thing I will always do, though, is have a reservation at another property that starts about three days after my arrival in Vegas. I do this only on the off chance that something is going poorly at the resort where I’m staying. Thankfully, I’ve never had to switch resorts but it’s just another one of those little tweaks that give me a tad more peace of mind. Once I’m checked in and all seems well I just call the other resort and cancel my reservation so I’m not on the hook for the deposit.

My trips are normally 14 - 16 nights and I usually stay at 3 hotels, maxing out comped nights with a few paid nights tagged on.

About the only advice I'd give is to make the last hotel stay at least 4 - 5 nights. If you're used to much shorter trips, by the end of the first 9 or 10 days there's a good chance you'll be dragging a little and it'll be good to be able to kind of settle into the last place.
